Big West MVB awards announced, Hawaii overlooked for big ones

The 2019 Big West men’s volleyball postseason awards were announced on Monday. Here’s the breaking writeup. IMHO a big surprise that Coach of Year went to the Long Beach State’s Alan Knipe. Player of the Year to Beach senior Kyle Ensing. Freshman of the Year to UCSB’s Ryan Wilcox, Punahou. Hawaii has five on the first team, Beach has four. Patrick Gasman, Rado Parapunov, Stijn van Tilburg, Gage and Joe Worsley.

Warriors get commit from Geiger

Hawaii got a commitment from Fullerton College sophomore hitter Garrett Geiger according to the Hornets’ website. He was one of the three recruits in the arena last week. The 6-foot-5 Geiger led the Hornets in kills during his freshman year in 2018 with 171 and earned second team All-Orange Empire Conference.
