Hawaii men’s volleyball: Taylor Averill, Tui Tuileta activated for VNL matches this week

Two former Rainbow Warriors, middle Taylor Averill and libero Tui Tuileta, have made the U.S. men’s national team 14-player travel roster for the third week of Volleyball Nations League (VNL) action Friday through Sunday. It means that all six players with island ties are on the trip. The roster has 25 players. The U.S. Men (2-4) will play Argentina (2-4), Germany (2-4) and France (5-1). Men’s volleyball: U.S. goes 1-2 on second weekend

The U.S. men’s national team finished Volleyball Nations League second round with a 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17 win over Portugal on Sunday to finish 1-2 in Russia. The U.S. is 2-4 heading into this week’s play in France. Setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) was activated this past week. Hawaii volleyball: Wahine add setter Bailey Choy; U.S. men 1-2

Hawaii makes it official. Paperwork cleared today (June 4). Setter Bailey Choy has transferred to Hawaii from Utah for her final season. The ‘Iolani graduate is one of three transfers on the 2019 Rainbow Wahine roster, joining five freshmen. Choy is finishing her undergraduate degree at Utah and has been accepted into the master’s program at UH’s Shidler College of Business. The Hawaii women’s volleyball team was waiting on one contract, which was returned this morning by St. John’s, for its 2019 schedule. The schedule (in full below) has been updated to reflect that the Red Storm are in the opening tournament. Hawaii volleyball: Emily Maglio makes Canadian national team, Stijn van Tilburg named academic all-district

The road trips will continue for Emily Maglio. The indoor and beach volleyball was one of 18 players selected to the Canadian Indoor National Team. Maglio, who most recently earned AVCA All-America honorable mention honors in beach volleyball earlier this week, will be competing with Team Canada at the Challenge Cup — a continental pre-qualifier for the Volleyball Nations League to be held in Chateaugauay, Quebec — from May 31-June 2.
