The third annual Wahine Volleyball Meet & Greet is set for 5:30 p.m., Aug. 10, at College Hill, 2234 Kamehameha Ave. The cost is $500 with net proceeds going to the program for summer school, supplemental meals and other things. Hawaii men’s volleyball: Former Warrior Eyal Zimet new head beach coach at Tulane

Former Warrior hitter Eval Zimet is taking over as head beach coach at Tulane. He has spent the past four years as Dartmouth’s assistant indoor coach. Before his time at Dartmouth, Zimet served as both the co-head coach of the beach volleyball team and assistant coach of the indoor volleyball team for four years at the University of San Francisco. Hawaii women’s volleyball: Wahine add Oregon transfer Brooke Van Sickle

Hawaii is adding Oregon junior hitter/libero Brooke Van Sickle, the third former Duck who will be on the Rainbow Wahine roster in fall. Dad Gary played for the Rainbow Warriors (1988-90) and mom Lisa (Bragado) played for Hawaii Pacific and was on the AVP. Brooke missed most of 2017 (played in six matches) after a season-ending injury. Van Sickle played in 67 career matches spanning three seasons. The U.S. men’s national team, with six players with Hawaii ties on the 14-man travel roster, won its fourth consecutive FIVB Volleyball Nations League match on today, defeating host France, 23-25, 25-22, 28-26, 27-25, in Cannes. Behind the setting of Kamehameha graduate Micah Christenson, the U.S. men’s national volleyball team defeated Argentina 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21 in a Nations Volleyball League pool play match today in Cannes, France. Christenson had two kills and two blocks (assists number was unavailable), and had the U.S. hitting .454.
