Hawaii women’s volleyball: Norene Iosia DPOW, RPI dips, still No. 21

Senior Norene Iosia earned her first Defensive Player of the Week award from the Big West on Monday. Iosia had a combined 22 digs and 12 blocks in the sweep of Fullerton and UCI, including a career-high eight blocks against the Titans. She has 13 double-doubles on the season, giving her a total of 57 in her career. FINAL: No. 21 Hawaii (18-3, 8-2 Big West) avenged a five-set defeat to UC Irvine earlier this month with a 27-25, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of the Anteaters (4-16, 1-7) on Saturday at the Bren Events Center. Hawaii took on defending national champion Long Beach State in two fall exhibitions on Saturday, one in the Walter Pyramid and one in the auxiliary Gold Mine facility. For the week, the Rainbow Warriors went 5-1, defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-1, UC Irvine 4-0, CSUN 5-1 and Long Beach State 3-0 and 2-1.
