Hawaii volleyball: Warriors sign Chakas, updated NCAA scores

Preseason No. 1 Hawaii has added the second player from Greece in as many men’s volleyball seasons, announcing the signing of Spyros Chakas from Athens on Friday The 6-foot-4 outside hitter is one of four signees for the 2021 season. Freshman Dimitrios Mouchlias, a 6-6 middle on the current Rainbow Warrior roster, is from Soufli, Greece. Chakas chose Hawaii over Long Beach State and Pepperdine. Hawaii women’s volleyball: Rainbow Wahine in Madison

Hawaii flew direct from Honolulu to Chicago then to Madison. Plane had to be de-iced before taking off from O’Hare. I got in via Atlanta about an hour after they did. Temperatures were around 10-12 degrees. Lowest windchill that I saw was minus-2. Team got some breakfast before checking in and some rest, then videos. Closed practice this evening.

Congratulations to Robyn Ah Mow, today named Pacific North Region Coach of the Year. Norene Iosia was named to the first team, while Hanna Hellvig and Amber Igieda were honorable mention.
