Hawaii routed at Fresno State

By Warrior World on October 27, 2018

The Hawaii football team’s recent woes continued unabated in a 50-20 loss at Fresno State on Saturday. It was the third straight loss for the Rainbow Warriors, who dropped to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the Mountain West Conference heading into another tough matchup, at home against Utah State next weekend. UH was outplayed in all phases by its erstwhile rival FSU (7-1, 4-0). The Bulldogs, led by quarterback Marcus McMaryion, rolled up 562 yards of total offense without a […]

‘Bows outlast Spartans in 5OT classic

By Warrior World on September 29, 2018

It had a little bit of everything. Elation. Deflation. And, after the longest game in Hawaii football history — five overtimes — the Rainbow Warriors finally defeated San Jose State, 44-41, at CEFCU Stadium on Saturday night. UH (5-1 overall, 2-0 Mountain West) survived a conference road game for the second time this season. The Rainbow Warriors’ first loss of the season put them at 3-1, while Army improved to 2-1. Army recorded its first win in the series, which now stands at 3-1 […]

North Carolina takes care of business

By Warrior World on April 3, 2017

Jeff Portnoy, who calls UH games for ESPN 1420, is writing from the Final Four. Some folks wait for the game to be over before writing the game summary. I thought I would write the first part at the half and promise I won’t change a thing no matter how the game ends. It was not the most artistic of halves. Neither team looked particularly sharp. First the Bulldogs. They have a three-point lead, but imagine what it might have […]

Two unforgettable games at Final Four

By Warrior World on April 1, 2017

I have had opportunity to attend more than 20 Final Fours, but I can’t remember two semifinal games with as much excitement and drama as the two games I just witnessed tonight.
