You’ve helped us get this far, and we thank you for that. Memories were revived. Pride was in play. Arguments were made. Now you have one important task remaining — to help us settle the fans’ choice for the singular Hawaii men’s basketball best team of all time. The picks have been made. The stage is set. The teams have taken the floor at the Stan Sheriff Center. It’s the top-seeded 2015-16 squad, the “ImprobaBows,” against the third-seeded 2001-02 squad, […]

Hawaii men’s basketball: 100th Season Best-Team Bracket championship matchup set

By Warrior World on April 5, 2020

Our little experiment is drawing to a close. The results of the Final Four semifinals went final on Sunday morning. Top-seeded 2015-16 held serve, ousting No. 4 1997-98, but on the other side of the bracket, No. 2 1971-72 could not do the same — becoming the tournament’s first upset victim, and falling to No. 3 2001-02. Bragging rights will be up for grabs on Monday and finalized on Tuesday. Voting will commence via Twitter at 9 a.m. (HST), the […]

Only two days of competition remain — today and Monday — just like how the NCAA Tournament would’ve been played. The top four seeds — 2015-16, 1971-72, 1997-98, and 2001-02 — each represent a totally different makeup of players and styles, not to mention rules of the game at the time. It’s up […]

By Warrior World on March 29, 2020

Can Hawaii’s all-time leading scorer prevent the Hawaii basketball 100th Season Best-Team Bracket from coming down to a matchup of the top four seeds? Chris Gaines and the hard-nosed NIT quarterfinal team of 1989-90 will have their work cut out for them against the second-seeded, inaugural NCAA Tournament team of 1971-72. One “Fabulous Five” team has already been knocked out; doubtless Bob Nash and Co. are motivated to move on to the final weekend. So far, the voters have selected […]

Hawaii men’s basketball: 100th Season Best-Team Bracket, Elite Eight, Day 3

By Warrior World on March 28, 2020

Chalk continues to rule the day in the Hawaii basketball 100th Season Best-Team Bracket. Friday’s 4-5 matchup between the 1997-98 “Dynamic Duo” and the 1970-71 “Fabulous Five” went the way of the pair, not the quintet, and rather decisively, too — 71.2% to 28.8% as the poll is almost closed. Will the favorites continue their domination today on Day 3 of the quarterfinals? The NCAA Tournament-seasoned international wonder boys of the third seed, 2001-02, must contend with the first iteration of […]
