Day 10
In today’s morning practice:
• The four No. 1 receivers practiced together for the first time. Darius Bright (turf toe), Billy Ray Stutzmann (hamstring) and Miah Ostrowski (hamstring) participated in the non-contact passing drills. They hope to extend their workouts tomorrow. “Small steps,” Ostrowski said.
• Right guard David Lefotu does not have any serious damage in his his sore left. He’ll resume practicing this week.
• Mike Sellers worked out as the No. 1 quarter (nickelback). He dropped three interceptions, resulting in having to do 30 on-field pushups, but he was credited with three pass breakups.
• Pitt basketball coach Jamie Dixon attended practice. Dixon and his family are here until tomorrow morning.
• • • • •
Big week for the Warriors, who will break training camp at midweek.
They will practice at Aloha Stadium tomorrow for the first time, testing out the new artificial surface. A full-contact scrimmage is scheduled for Thursday, after which the depth chart should be solidified. Look for the No. 1 receivers to all practice together sometime this week.
* * * * *
And in 19 more days . . .
First maybe
That was fast.
Off to practice. I’ll have a report after that.
Where and what time will be the full-contact scrimmage?
Scrimmage will be at UH. Preference is for it to be on the grass field, but without the video platform, it’s difficult to get good shots. Hopefully, the temp platform will be in place soon. If it’s at Ching, fans can at least sit in the stands. No red-ant problem there.
Top Five baybee!
Go Warriors!
Go Warriors!
Go Warriors!
Wassup Pomai & DPK?
Mahalo ST for the reports.
The number one receivers togther on field this week? The storm is gathering… …a hard rain will soon fall on the buffaloes.
Howdy Haka and Mr. Pomai.
Speaking of the turf, I spoke with someone who spoke with the contractor who installed the turf and he said he was told that the turf is definitely not as fast as the previous turf, but is much more forgiving on the players.
Proper caption of photo should read:
brah, get shhhhigarette?
Haka:
Thanks for the update on the turf.
That last turf was fast, because the blades were all plowed down. And because the crown was either lowered or removed, the surface was relatively flat, so whatever was on that field couldn’t be power-cleaned off. The past couple of seasons the players were suffering nasty-looking abrasions.
Need to start photoshopping the buff pics with avengence. Might Mo and teammates bigger than the buff?
btw, that is still an impressive photo. reason # 1 -why not to drive a small truck in Yellowstone park.
Chawan provided today’s buffalo photo.
I think Ralphie was the only buffalo I’ve ever seen in person.
Honolulu Zoo doesn’t have any buffaloes, I don’t think.
OK, off to practice. Really.
Good Morning Tsai-kos!
good morning warrior nation and 808
pomai did stephen say what time on thursday?
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
And hello DPK, ST, POMAI, KEVIN, haka et al.
Great to hear that the first team receivers should practice together some time this week. Practicing at Aloha Stadium is good for the Warriors and I’m sure that they will like the new turf…the old turf really had to go.
Jon Wilner’s AP ballot has UH in the top 25!
http://blogs.mercurynews.com/collegesports/2011/08/15/my-associated-press-preseason-top-25-football-poll/
Texas Tech’s President says that the Pac-12 won’t take schools from Texas until UT-Austin is one of them.
http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/08/texas-tech-president-guy-bailey-no-pac-1.html
Texas Tech’s President also says that the Big 12 is going on the offensive now…which sounds like they will be adding schools soon after Texas A&M leaves. He’s already publicly admitting that Texas A&M will be going to the SEC.
Get dem Buffs!
UH is a 6.5 point favorite over Colorado for the lines set by Caesar’s, MGM/Mirage, and the Station Casinos.

ST,
How has our special teams look? I remember Tomey saying it’ll be better than last year… but that’s not exactly saying much…
Morning.. hope the Oline is on the mend..
A great Monday to everyone!
Great picture, I didn’t realize bison were that large.
Looks like a wild and crazy day was had by one on the blog yesterday.
Nice to have an open door policy but sometimes the unwelcome animals stroll on in. Darn mosquitos!
Jon Wilner’s AP ballot differs greatly from the US Today’s poll. No TCU and Boise State ranked #2 above Oregon?
No wild buffalos in America. Just bison.
Garret,
I am getting the feeling that the MWC’s chances of receiving a provisional BCS membership are going down the drain. Are you sharing a similar belief?
Dislike when multiple things breakdown at the same time.
Ron Rivera on Kealoha…
WHO STOOD OUT:
WR KEALOHA PILARES: The rookie from Hawaii showed good playmaking ability after the catch on a 35-yard scoring play and did well on special teams. He’s still raw, but a great talent who has a build similar to Smith.
Rivera said Pilares did a great job. “The young man shows his run after catch and that was probably the thing that intrigued us the most,” Rivera said. “Kealoha did an excellent job catching the ball, turning up field and getting what he could and then breaking it. I was really excited about that. I watched him on special teams and thought his energy was outstanding.”

Garret . . .
Thank you for bringing back the OTP’s (off-topic posts)!
BTW, click on my name for his site — lots of information I use in my classroom!!!
Nice Buff! We should imu that buff before Sept.3rd!
Viriliter Age, Pilares!
Hope the wr’s and ol heal up and get sync’d soon.
I think we are going to be in a dog-fight up in Seattle.
Good morning ?
I got hungry looking at the picture. It’s like drive thru meat
More to do.
Busy, busy, busy!
wafan,
Expecting some “wild” Buffaloes to head back to CO after Sept. 3….
Old Diver,
With TCU’s numbers counting for the MWC in this period, I think that the MWC still has a good shot. It is okay if the Big 12 takes BYU, that doesn’t affect things. If the MWC takes Air Force, that would be a problem but the MWC could still get AQ status for 2 years (but the numbers would seem to indicate that it would be lost after that).
So, I don’t think that the provisional AQ status is in dire straits for the MWC. As long as they are looking at BYU or Houston or other non-MWC schools, the MWC would still get AQ status for 2012 and 2013. If Air Force leaves, then the appeal would be kind of interesting…TCU and Air Force would be counted with the MWC’s numbers but not be there after the appeal.
A lot may depend on how the MWC does this year. If TCU wins the MWC title this year and then leaves, the appeal may not go well. If the MWC doesn’t win at least 70% of their nonconference games, the appeal probably won’t go well. UH, Fresno State, and Nevada need to do their part also to show that the MWC is replacing BYU, Utah, TCU (and possibly Air Force) with other strong schools.
So, cheer against TCU and cheer for all the current and future MWC teams. And hope that the Big 12 leaves the MWC alone.
Dean, bright, ostrowski, brown are in full pads. Stutzmann is practicing but not in pads.
Wafan,
Our newest Wahine fr the State of WA arrived and checked in to the dorms.
Her and her father had a great weekend in paradise.
Great news, lefotu walking with a slight limp and no braces.
Mahalo BleedGreen808!
CoolEthan,
re: where Pearland, Texas is from Marshall, Texas?,……It’s like a 4 1/2 hr drive,(240.28 mi.),SW from where I live; takes about that time from L.A. to Honolulu flight time.
A bit confusing bout Texas A&M???? SEC presidents say, “don’t think so” and presidents from big12, say, “yes, so”……hmmmmm????
Garret:
#26 – I heard Harrah’s has UH giving 9 pts after the injuries to key Colorado players – offense and defense.
but, I’ll give the 6.5 any time – anyone going to Vegas before 8/31/11?
The Buffaloes being deemed 6.5 “underbuffs” is concerning. The bison will be plenty motivated, will be big, will play big and TALK BIG. The Warriors must stay disciplined and not get into it with the herd. Execute…one snap and clear.
Sharp’s minds and focused sights will run and shoot the bison down!
Go Warriors!
At least the MTN network is in HD….which I’m watching right now; last years games, just to size up the quality of play.
Kvin:
#46 – is she the hitting phenom and excellent fielder who told friends that she was going to UH and has gotten very little press? very few beleived her?
what’s her name? porgot.
Good morning everyone!
Yup, 19 days till kickoff!
26 days until UH-WA in Seattle.
33 days until Tsaiko-Vegas #3.
Haka:
#52 – me tinks they only 6.5 unda becus dey com from BCS conference!
they goin get torched by da Warriors!
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Anyone know what time the parking gates will open for the Colorado game that starts at 415pm?? No can wait for the tailgating to begin!!
Run on Buffalo Burgers at Keawe Grille! Bigger Buffalo = Juicier Burgers.

The 2011 Na Koa Bowl will be televised on KFVE on August 29th starting at 5:00 pm from the Stan Sheriff Center. The event will also be streamed live so that off-island fans can watch the fundraiser. The public is invited.

Good morning, gang!
‘Gmorning gangy!
Ahouae,
In short yes. Sorry on the go right now. Will email you.
A-House, I hope you are right! Go Warriors!
Hmmm…12 days before I cruise the islands again on the Pride of America.
Same-o, same-o. But convenient.
No careful packing. Forget something? Take a shuttle to Wal-Mart 🙂
Sun-Mon in Kahului
Tue in Hilo
Wed in Kona
Thur-Fri in Nawiliwili
Ahouse,
Freshman registered on Friday.
Good to go at UH. Austin Wilkerson.
DPK,
Buffalo could also be selling beef jerky for his halau.
If that buffalo was sending a little league team, he’d just stand at an intersection with other buffaloes with fishing nets in tow.
Interesting tidbits from this Texas Tech beat writer.
Interesting that #TexasTech president Bailey mentions FOX and the other media partners when discussing the future of the Big 12.
http://twitter.com/#!/ChrisLevel
Kansas State just announced their HD Digital TV Network. In addition to sports, it will show campus lectures and performances. Their fans from anywhere in the country can have access to these HD broadcasts. I’d love for UH to have something like this someday.
http://www.kstatesports.com/genrel/081511aaa.html
There is a place that I went to in Washington that you could buy old bread for real cheap ($.25?) and drive through a buffalo filled park and feed them, like in the picture. There are also yaks and other animals. Yes, the buffalo are huge. Is it buffalo or bison? What is the difference. Or is it same, same? Those of you who are going to the UH-Washington game should go to that park. The buffalo’s head barely fits into the car’s window but the tongue is large and will reach out to take bread. Slobbered all over the window and car. Too many screams though (funny). I highly recommend going there.
ppj2,
Wen you pau getting slobbered, get the car cleaned and pick me up at the casino! 😆
Like I said previously, Texas A and M is getting the shaft from the SEC and they ain’t inviting them right now. A and M forgot that they are not a private school, but a public institution and Texas politics is very slippery plus it bites.
The Texas Higher Education Committee just canceled the meeting that they had called for tomorrow.
the gibber’s team is on a two game win streak against the chinese professional teams.
http://www.warriorinsider.com/2011/08/warriors-win-again/
so one of the prized recruits, gerry blakes has qualifying scores and grades.
the question is…can or will the university of hawaii fast track his admission so that he can be in school next week???
will the slow as molasses administration finally move and get off their butts???
Howzit everyone. Don’t forget; we’ve got the pre-season football tune-up this Saturday:
Tsaiko Dinner-Karaoke-Dance Call at the Hale Koa Hotel
5:30 pm (sharp) Dinner at the Koko Cafe
7:00 pm Go across the hall to the Warriors Lounge for some karaoke, talk story, and maybe some dancing.
To participate, leave a comment on the Warrior Beat or email me at curt_aloha at yahoo dot com by Friday noon. B there or b square.
Good morning Tsaikos…
Thanks BleedGreen808 for the notes from practice….
Congrats to Kealoha and the props…Go my Monarch brother and continue to make Hawaii proud…. 🙂
Stretch#57…Don’t know what time the parking lot is opening but the Tsaikogate has to start earlier…maybe like 730 a.m…..MWAHAHAHAHAHAHa
The Tsaiko Call is for this Saturday, Aug 20.
Why would UH Manoa “fast-track” his admission? Because its the “right thing” to do or just to focus on Blakes because he’s a student-athlete, a basektball player?
Bypassing their usual policies and procedures of admission or whatever one wants to call it for a student-athlete only really borders on a potential NCAA violation.
Now, if UH Manoa improves the pace of their overall admission procedures, then no worries.
this would save the class for gibber if he does get in this fall.
this will still be a great class with brereton, stokes, jefferson, and blakes.
the losses of this year’s recruits, stevens, biggs, and mitchell actually allows the gibber to recruit and sign at least three next year.
big is good for next year.
a big appears to be all but inked and could be in classes this fall while he sits out the mandatory transfer year. biggs could be one of them after a stint at a prep academy next year. this would be a great thing for him to shore up the acadelmics and gain a few pounds.
the key to bigg’s arrival next year will be getting blakes in class this year, even if he blakes grayshirts this year.
al,
Lynne T. was surprised that I tailgate with you…
Thanks for the peek into practice, BleedGreen808. I got up too late to make it out the door.
kevin…they could/would/should pick up the pace. they’ve done it in the past for non-athletes. in this case, they made a commitment to the young man and his family. therefore, they should make pono.
tougher with the coach on the asia tour.
slugger…oh. now i know how old you are.
Kev, athletes have special consideration to get them in classes that doesn’t affect their practice time. Morning practices = afternoon classes and so on and also classes in their field. Yes, this might sound privileged but how can all the student athletes represent their school throughout the United States if they have to stand in line to try to get their classes. No openings in their class makes them ineligible.
UH vs UNLV
Reminder, if you ordered tickets from me, please get your payments in quickly. Information can be found on SteveM’s website right under the grid for the Washington game: http://home.roadrunner.com/~smurashi/tsai-kos/las2011.html
Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. I got a few orders out on Saturday, and will try to get the rest out this week.
In Blakes’ case, what commitment did UH make to the family and Gerry himself other than what is usually afforded to all UH student-athletes?
If UH is going to make it right, make it right for the ENTIRE student body. Athlete or not.
DPK-
Eagle has landed. Cool cap! I’ll wear it at the UH Alumni Golf Tournament on September 14.
kevin…the offered a scholarship and should do everything in their power to honor it. athletic or academic or not.
its like the prom date you thought you had until the day before the prom she changes her mind.
al,
We had a blast at our birthday reunion. At least this year they didn’t plan it during football season like they did 2 years ago.
good to hear that bright, stuzz and miah will be healthy enuff to take reps sometime this week. that doesnt necesarily mean they are back and at full-throtle. turf toe and hammies are debilitating ailments and not easily shaken. time and therapy applies.
their ailments have already reduced their reps. the fact that mac is exercising caution and not pushing for these three to practice speaks volumes for his depth chart. not to mention his confidence in his senior QB, bryant moniz. whoever emerges as starters for the left wide out and the two slot positions for the colorado opener, they must be able to go 100%. as former warrior dc, jerry glanville liked to quip, “i’ll take the backup who can go 100 over the starter, who gives less”.
at this point no one knows the degree of injury involved with the three. but, judging from their absence on the practice field–mac is being wisely cautious.
thursday’s scrim should provide some clue whether our offense is in operational mode. we dont need to look spectacular–but we should move the sticks with consistency. we are inside the 3-week marker to gametime and a prolific O such as ours must show signs of life at this point, especially with an experienced QB like Mo.
Al,
Use another analogy. I cannot relate to being stood-up. 😎 😎
Al,
So Blakes is an academic “lock”, no questions asked, all requirements met, etc…
nothing wrong with hand delivering paper work through the U of H workflow process to get the recommended approvals for registering and attending class this fall.
many do it. many entities do it, legislature, courts, banks, city permits.
cannot help if the time it took to verify and qualify his test scores comes close to the U of H registration dates and deadlines timeframe. something must’ve been said that if he qualifies he will be enrolled. it’s not like class has started.
his intent was and is to attend the U of H. not some last second wannabe transfer student.
lol, God’s gift to women or selective dating. 😆

We may have taken a depth hit from the recruiting losses, but I think that the way Stokes & Brereton are playing we definitely got two quality contributors. Also, it will be great to see both Brereton & Wiseman on the court at the same time as they are the kind of blue collar players that can make an average team GREAT!
Wow. Stokes is a scoring machine…and only a freshman too.
Now we have to get Blakes in.
Boom!
Couch,
It’s called selective dating.
Pick and choose battles wisely. No need set one’s self up for rejection if it’s avoidable on your end. 😆 😆 😆
Hey all, another article featuring Kealoha…
http://www.shelbystar.com/sports/spotlight-57584-grabs-panthers.html
BTW, “God’s Gift To Women” comes in a little box and requires AA batteries.
(Nobody better be blushing… I say the stuff everyone thinks but no like say!) 😆 😆
if we are counting on our admissions “fast tracking” blakes, he should be enrolled by january 2012. c’mon we are talking bean counters–they race on a track with speed bumps.
lol, Kevin. i took the approach of snooze you lose and doesn’t hurt to ask and some days you get lucky. it also helped to have a car.
i would say that is “Adam and Eve’s” gift to women. comes with a bonus gift too! in a discreetly marked package.
warriorsun, i hope the clerks can get off their fat arses and sweat a little.
Anyone got any news on the UFL draft to disperse the Colonials players to other teams? I think that was supposed to be today. Hope Colt still gets his shot . . . somewhere.
The SEC going to 16 teams would be bad for UH, as the chain reaction could result in multiple teams being lost from the MWC.

Re #102 – nice story on Kealoha!
Lots of Aloha for Pilares.
ditto
Oklahoma Sooners apparently do the Haka too. Well at least at practice. Its on ESPNU right now.
They have a couple of Samoan players on the team that appeared to be leading/teaching them.
iwwthm,
Saw that. Nila Kasitati is a Freshman from Trinity HS in Euliss, TX who was leading the Haka “class”
Here I thought our Hawaiian sun and heat was tough…The Sooners practice at night (7pm) when its around 105 degrees!!!
Happens all around the country.
eh, dea stay only one haka! en das in hawaii!
d1:
#112 – guess Hawaii practicing at Euliss was not successful for Ccoach Mack in terms of recruits – some one mentioned they had a number of potential D1 players.
morning
just got a message for spam abuse and banned from this blog. what up with dat?
al:
#89 – wot u tukin bout? wot prom date? me neva wen to a prom. dunno how fo dance.
Ha’a.
Haka = maori. New Zealand.
Either way.
A-house,
I’m sure Kasitati had Hawaii high on his list while listening to Coach Stoops. 🙄
A-House. No email sent see post 66.
l say Laters with da Sooners!
Ahouse, best part of HS prom happens aftah pau.
koakane:
Been visiting naughty sites?
Kevin:
thanks, yep that was Wilkersen – hope she can carry her talents over to Na Wahine softball and become the next Kelly Majam.
btw, interesting to note a couple of things:
1) Click on any player on OU roster and his page has a link to highlight video. Nice touch.
2) Kasitati was a huge TE in HS who is now on the OU roster as a OL. He showed awesome mobility as a Receiver. Noted that Wisconsin’s roster also includes several converted TE’s amongst their massive OL contingent.
d1
#120 – “high on list” may have been true, but ————- he’s a Sooner!
he would have been a great “first” for a Euliss/UH connection!
A-house,
I would call you but no can talk with tongue in cheek!
Four #1’s practicing today sounds good!
tsai not me just waiting for da season to begin
only site I visited lately was practice and some of it was unpleasant so to speak bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Koakane visitng KoaMahu’s webcam site again?

LOL…

pake version=bisum prostitute=bisum ho
You cannot see it in that photo, but there is a 7-11 and a Koa Pancake House nearby.
Kind of like Cali Ave in Wahiawa.
It would explain the solicitation.
I’m hoping sold out against the buff but 45,000 plus should be loud enough to rock the
stadium. A family of 2 with kids running around the stadium should be fun. How many days left?
GO WARRIORS!!
BEAT colorado!!
Buffalo “Home made patty” loco mocos anyone?
Great news on Lefotu.
BIK
Wreck,
Koamahu…
Is it’s webcam show at http://www.allthemoves.com?

A-House,
Should be an entertaining spring. Intangibles are defined as “unmeasurable qualities”, but I like the potential of such possibilites unfolding.
I can be more specific when I see you in person come tailgate time or in fact I will email you what I think.
No record predictions, but I have legit reason to be very optimistic.
d1:
#128 – that’s a good one!!!
Kevin:
#140 – sounds very, very interesting and looking forward to their season!
I asked Coach Dee 2 years ago at the Manoa makeover what it was like for the 2009 team and her response was, “one cannot believe or comprehend the team chemistry – first time in her life she came across a team like that – so very special”.
Wreck:
went by David Louie’s several days ago and the first thought was our gathering to watch the game – what fun!!!
Hilo senior LL team plays Latin America later on this afternoon. Both team with one win in pool B.
#143 Ahouse was that Henry brother’s place on east side 😉
A-House,
People get so caught up in what they can see and measure that they forget what other “forces” are at play whenever a full team sport is involved.
Not having the right chemestry doesn’t mean people are at odds with each other although some think that is the case because it’s the easiest scenario to understand and assume.
All I’ll say for now is that it will be a new season.
A-House,
Check your email in a few minutes.
A-House — bring the Mrs. this Saturday night to Hale Koa. Curt’s giving lessons and said tennies/walking shoes OK. 🙂
RE: #89
Al — where did you get that analogy? 🙄
must be softball talk. did that wake the lurker? but before softball, can’t wait to see the Wahine VB team take the court. hope it’s on tv.
what’s a tennies? dance talk i presume.
Do my Eyez deceive me?…WreakinEyez is on da blog?! Eh! where you wuz??
Couch,
It fits in with Wahine volleyball. Choke talent last season, but we missed the tittas if you know what I mean.
There are similar things happening to volleyball this season as far as what is returning on top of what is coming in that makes for a lot of promise. Same with softball.
But I’ll use that word (softball) sparsely since it attracts the WRONG kind of people looking to make noise out of spite.
Wreck!!!! Wea you been Daddy?! Its been so long I hardly Wreckineyez you!!! 😆
Wild rumors about Siaki Craven’s girl friend leaving USC to play for Shoji.
Tsai –
Have you ever seen koakane eat breakfast? That’s prolly where the spam abuse is occurring. 😆
A-House
Datz rite. As SteveM says, I will help you and the Mrs on the dance floor. We personally invite you to the Hale Koa Call this Saturday. Eating, talking, and singing; I don’t think you need my help there. B there or b square.

Couch,
Told someone that I couldn’t wait until volleyball and the primary reason was the new scoreboard. Told em that Shoji’s ladies are always good every season, but this scoreboard has been a LONG TIME COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If that bison were a prostitute, wouldn’t it would be wearing a thong and spiked heels. I’m no expert on these things, but I’m just sayin’.
OMG…Wreck is back in da hale….long time no see brother… 🙂
Kevin #103…I heard Koa-Mahu’s one takes 2 D’s…LMAO
Last Call, that would be a nice get.
Kevin, okay dokay. we’ll see how things pan out this season for both Wahine teams. matter of fact, good luck to Wahine basketball and soccer too!

GO WARRIORS!!!
PULEHU DA BUFFS!!!

The spiked heels need to be translucent (i.e. clear). It’s a red flag.

Good news for Lefotu indeed.
Saw him on the ground and really in pain, but once on the cart he looked to be ok and wasn’t showing any tremendous physical discomfort.
hey that pic looks familiar…. heh.
Yep –
That IS good for Lefotu. Excited to see those receivers taking reps too. Will have to go watch practice when the first offense and defense is ready to roll. The team as a whole looked pretty good last week.
RE: Photo above.
Man in truck: “Excuse me, do you know how to get to town from here?”
Buffalo: “Yeah. It’s back the way you came.”
ahouse…you poor thing, you.
and you didn’t need to know how to dance. all you needed was the guebos to ask and then hold her in the middle of the dance floor.
you know there used to be a second chance prom held annually for poor things like you.
117…busted by 124.
shame on you, bull.
c_c can prolly tell us what the buffalo said and what the nature of its business was. If you look closely at the pic tho it doesn’t look like its a girl.
those suckers were huge and not afraid. good thing i didn’t have any more bread to feed them and i was able to drive past unbothered.
al –
I tried to cover for him…
Thanks for the pic chawan_cut. Was that in Yellowstone? We got just about as close to the bison as the photo without any of them poking their head inside the car for a look see.
c_c,
If its just a bread thing, I hope the bread was whole grain – much healthier for them.
it’s a bison and it’s saying, “welcome to Bison Burger, can I take your order, NOW”.
Hey A House… I remember that time… I still think about the food there LOL.
Hey Guys, Just been busy…. Jumping in and out of meetings…

Ikaika helmet?
Oh they sell those in Dallas now for some strange reason that has no cultural ties to that state.
NCAA investigating Miami football.
Normally I’d laugh when these BCS level school get investigated, but now it’s just pathetic.
I mean we all had inklings, but man…
Even though woodard isn’t in pads, its good to see him encouraging his fellow teammates and absorbing all the instruction by the coaches.
Vaughn meatoga is built like a mack truck. He’s definitely one of the more physically imposing d-linemen. Also looks like pj put on some good weight too.
Jets on TV. B. Satele still there?
Satele #48
Wow, Pilares is getting a ton of attention in Carolina… Here’s another nice article featuring him…

Practice is over and cal lee is working one on one with desmond dean. Hope he keeps gaining more weight so he becomes our next big end since melila and alama-francis.
Olympic Game park in Sequim, WA.
actually the same game park that bigwave took his pic at, except i took mine maybe 5 years ago.
Also, tuioti working one on one with masch is good to see. Really hoping this kid has an awesome senior season.
Thanks for the link, MH. Looks like the offense is coming together nicely like butcheeks. 😉
congrats to Hilo LL seniors won their game today 4-3
Didn’t see Satele play in tonight’s football game…
Haka, let me ask you this. If it was Mana Silva, do you think he would have made those potential interceptions? I rest my case. You have to make da play. It’s the difference between maybe winning a game or lose it. Granted it was at practice, but the coaches are evaluating everybody and who is going to make it on the depth chart. It is very important.
A good example is the UNLV game in 2009 in Vegas. It was a tight game and the Rebels won 28-27 as time expired. One play that stuck in my mind (I was at that game) was when the UNLV QB threw over the middle and Spencer Smith was in great position to make an interception, right in his hands, and he dropped it. UNLV got another repreive and they took advantage of it and drove down the field and scored a touchdown. I don’t want to harp on Sellers. He’s a grayshirt freshman. My point solely was that when you are in position to make a play, make the play for your team, that’s all. Hopefully, he and others will learn as they go to have perfect practices. When the lights go on, you have to perform. That’s the bottom line.
Derek ….
More reason for Jugg machines eh?
I saw Satele on ST and at LB in the 4th qtr.
For those going to UW game,
an alternative way to get to Huskie Stadium is on a 9 am brunch cruise
http://www.ivars.com/index.php?page=husky-brunch-cruise-2
Ah…. The unforgettable UNLV game. People blame the last minute TD for losing that game, or that Spencer Smith dropped potential pick.
NO ONE talks about all the over thrown balls through out the game.
The whole game was off and we could have won easily.
It’s ok though, sports fans (me too) generally BLAME the latest thing they saw as the key component of a loss. There are games where that IS the case, but NOT the 2009 UNLV game. Too many missed OFFENSIVE opportunites in the first few quarters if you ask me. More often than not, most games are not lost because of one or two plays.
It’s like blaming the last traffic light before your office for being too long for being late to work, when you kept hitting the snooze button at home.
Howzit Tsaikos!
Been lurking all day. Too busy to play.
DPK – #155 – You almost made me spit out my coffee all over my keyboard.
Off-topic – watching a show on the Japan tsunami. Amazing footage. Please remember that those affected are still in need.
Likewise, that Boise State kicker was targeted by some unruly BSU fans who SHOULD have been storming Coach Pete’s office.
Why blame the kicker for missing those FGs when BSU played like a team that had money on Nevada.
BSU could have EASILY won that game by three TDs at the LEAST.
Just throwing that out there.
ST – What ever happened to the two QBs that UH was recruiting??? Are they still on the radar screen?
OK, trying to help BG find a fb profile pic. Went searching thru the Tsaiko pics on SteveM’s site. Buggah is almost as elusive as brew808.
lemme go look…
Watching the replay of the Jets-Tex game. Saw Brashton going in on the KO. #48 Good to know he’s getting some PT.
Hey, WreckinEyes!
Long day.
Good to see Wreck here today!
Giving 6?
Whoo-hoo!!!
Nytal!!!
Re: 238
jm2375 — There are no photos of brew808. Not a one, zilch, nada, no mo’. That’s the official story and I’m sticking to it. 😐
Still waiting for the next holy grail of the future. Hoping that Moniz can be that person this year. Gotta be able to win the big games on the road.
#229
Derek,
Let me ask you this, “Seriously?”. So you really think I am saying dropping the ball is not important? That I endorse dropping the ball. Aiyah, das y hard. The problem with blogging, like an email or other electronic correspondence is it can be read in many ways and that can cause a misinterpretation in its intent. My apologies for making a “case” about it and an obvious failed attempt at humor as I did not think for a second that you would take it as a personal insult to your most serious post.
Haka,
No need.
SteveM – #246 – which why I said, *almost* as elusive as brew808.
Kevin,
It’s ok. Sometimes we shoot from the hip and forget to factor in the wind as was the case in my post. I admire Derek’s passion. I know he just wants to show his support. I just never thought it would be taken as such. It’s really no beeg ting, but I know one ting, nobody wanted to catch those balls more than Mike Sellers. Anyway, it’s all G! I hope…
Go Warriors!
Go Sellers!

…even if Blakes ends up starting classes (a week?) late … first get in … then hit the books harder then ever, obviously also still needs to learn to study and Get Ahead (instead of playing catch up…)… [Blakes and Jefferson would give Hawai’i unusual (unprecedented if you believe the hype) Boost in Athleticism …]
RE: Transfer 6-8 Christian Standhardinger of Germany (needs to sit out “x” number of games): Gary Dickman saw him play for Nebraska — “…he was their best player and one of the Best in the Big 12 … he should be good for the WAC and a real good addition for Hawai’i…”

Eh Wreck!
Eh DPK. Have you been keeping up with your reading assignments?

Pilares’ first NFL TD.
i too would like to know what happened to the 2 top secret QB’s we heard about.
did they decide to go elsewhere?
it seemed as though Hawaii was in the middle of QB hysteria with Forcier and some other potential recruits and transfers..then all of a sudden it went all quiet…wth?!
If the deadline to apply/accept at UH is already done, I am guessing the transfer QB (1 out of the 2) ain’t coming here.
iwwthm
We’ve all been asking about the mystery QBs. You might be right about the transfer. There’s not much time left to get into school. So, you would think it would be announced by now unless he didn’t commit to us. Dangeroo. C’mon ST; pls spill da beans soon.
okay…let’s explain.
that transfer dude could be coming in january.
that hs holy grail candidate could be a 2012 recruit.
or i could have it all topsy turvy.
“eagle forgot to mention that standhardinger’s mother is part filipino.
okay, we could have fun with this guy’s surname, but, i won’t go there.
but we could give a nickname…christian “stud” standhardinger.
Nothing has changed on the QBs. But unlike last time, I’m not going to say anything until it’s a done deal.
fair enough.
we could have lunch on wednesday to discuss the merits of disclosing the info in a methodical manner full of subliminal messages.
…that would be a great game of intrigue don’t you think?
When it’s over, you’ll understand.
fuud?
Aw, great… now we really can’t wait to hear these QB’s names!
Morning, all! Hope you all have a great day!
that makes it sound even more interesting and complicated.
i like complicated.
complicated makes for more interest.
hooray; your writings on theater and writing much missed!
