Early enrollment
My bad
Saint Louis School wideout Billy Ray Stutzmann is completing his studies early and will enroll at UH in January. He will participate in the offseason conditioning drills and spring practice.
And he won’t miss out on his high school life. He will be allowed to attend his senior prom and participate in the graduation ceremony in June.
* * *
The Warriors practiced at Saint Louis today.
It was good to see Jonathan Kauka, a former UH running back and key member of several special-team units. Kauka is a Saint Louis teacher.
Kauka is still owed a proper UH farewell. He did not participate in the Senior Walk because he was awaiting a ruling on a medical hardship that would allow him a sixth season. A few months later, the appeal was denied and his career ended.
Know how schools give those honorary degrees? They should give him an honorary Senior Walk.
They should do the same for Davone Bess.
* * *
The Warriors will practice on their grass field tomorrow (7 a.m. to 9 a.m.).
Shootz! I was hoping I was 1st!
WOW, history in the making as I am first in a very long time.
ST: re our posts yesterday on using Murakami Stadium for football practice – can or no can? why?
Wow!…I am!…So what’s the prize today ST?
Kekoa:
I slow typist so lost out on being # 1 poster!!
Howzit going?
Sorry A-House!…I got a little ahead of myself.
I agree with the use of the baseball stadium. GA needs more sliding practice!…He looked like a train wreck on his one and only attempt during the NMSU game.
A-House:
They probably could use Murakami Stadium, but it’s something somebody didn’t think about.
I was in Mack’s office yesterday, and he was going through a lot of different things. Looking for another site was just another thing to work on. But, you know, there are a lot of people on the payroll who could have thought of Murakami Stadium. Maybe they need to use some bloggers as consultants.
Good morning ST, Kekoa, A-House, Wafan and all other Tsai-kos here and abroad.
Still deciding whether to visit the St Louis field to watch practice this a.m. Not familiar with the campus. I think sj wants to venture over and I’m more inclined to stay home and do some chores. But we’ll see.
You all have a great hump day and see you all on Saturday. Hope the weather holds up.
A-House ~ BTW, is your office in the Pioneer Square building? I thought I spotted you heading into the elevator one day last week.
wafan:
Got it – thanks for the info – will go to the Navy PX and see if they have this player/recorder.
Stay warm – kinda chilly here, wind cutting through the clothing and wet, but, I’m sure not as cold where you are – just above freezing! Holly molly, Andy!!!
Wait. Is A-House joining the 21st century?
I would text him congratulations except, well, I don’t know how to text.
Hiya Myki!…I’m getting ready for another “wet & wild” t-gate/game on Sat. Dug out the wafan wet weather gear.
I thought about going to practice today, but Pops has been a bit off track these past 2 days. Gotta get him healthy for the weekend, or he will not be on the T-gate travel list.
ST:
I’m still working on the 19th century and slowly, very slowly, moving into the 20th century.
Whoa, I’m a whole century back!! YIKES!!!
Good Morning everybody. Hope everyone has a great day.
You see, ST, I’m with you on texting – no idea how or where to begin!
I’m glad they’re back to practicing in the morning.
I missed yesterday’s practice because of our basketball game. We lost to Maryknoll.
I found your blog on MSN Search. Nice writing. I will check back to read more.
Eric Hundin
Kekoa:
My office in the Finance Factors building across Hawaiian Tel.
SJ: Mrs and I saw you walking your “poodle” on upper Piikoi St yesterday pm.
sj & myki – you guys better go over to the practice this morning. ST will need someone to cover for him. He will probably use some kind of excuse that he was lost and couldn’t find the field that’s why he is even later than usual.
I can receive text, I don’t know how to text out.
Morning, everyone – off to 24 hour fitness for my moring work out.
ST
That is all that is required of parents.
oops – moring = morning
Stretch:
Actually, I’m better received at Saint Louis.
Every time I go to UH, in the past year, I have to go past the parking guard. Every time, I show him my pass. Every time, he stops me, walks up, reads the pass this S-L-O-W-L-Y and then waves me in.
A-House ~ Good thing you not in the Hawtel bldg. They may be getting an eviction notice for Xmas, and you’d end up picking up da slack!
ST – come on, how stupid are you?? He isn’t checking your pass, he is checking you out.
Time for me to go eat some breakfast at Tip-top then drive one hour up to Princeville. Good thing I didn’t make the drive yesterday, I would have fallen asleep. See everyone later.
A-House,
Our “poodle” is actually a cocker spaniel who has been called poodle, dalmation and everything else. He just had a birthday and is 11 years old, blind and getting deaf. He’s a senior citizen just like his owners.
Mrs. A-House ~ If you do go to Navy PX…look in the UH section for some new UA stuff. They also have the CB ‘Skins jersey on sale. Plenny Manini sizes left. Only $65!
Diana got a CB shirt as part of her birthday collection. She’s not a fb fan, but loves the uniforms. She picks College & NFL games by the uniform colors…and usually wins! She thinks the Raiders Silver and Black is the reason why they lose all the time. Al Davis…lissen up.
Aloha Kakahiaka! Have a great day in Hawai’i nei everyone.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
HiHo
Willie Grace and away!
Kekoa,
I liked the Raiders when Jon Gruden was coaching. The only time I made kala in Vegas on a SuperBowl was on Tampa Bay when Gruden moved over there. He reminds me of an old bf ~ my woman’s POV of football.
d1,
should we share the story of how the turf was….shall we say…..manicured? i think that is only a ‘legend’ but one of such dark and accusatory overtones
i defer to d1, since he has 2 sons that went to SL, and i can only claim 1 son. however, i think my 1 equalled his 2 in body weight, but that is only a ‘rumor’. haha
stay dry folks, it’s going to be another wet and wild day…..no Homey, not a wet and wild show to be found on keeamoku….the weather silly man….
St,
Getting Kanekoa Texeira as a chat guest would be easier than Shane. Been trying in vain! 🙁
MeiLing ~ What’s on your menu for the T-gate? I’m leaning towards a nice rib-stickin’ Beef with Tripe Stew. Good hearty T-gate foul weather fuud.
MeiLing
forgot to tell you mahalo for the other night, you and your sis can rock 🙂 we had so much fun, lyn has a new workout routine, it’s called
GENJI-CISE, haha…lot’s of leg kicks, deep squats, and quick hip turns…to a pulsating rhthym and melodious chanting, i mean singing…..oh what a night……sounds like a song….
whitey is off to South Dakota, I think and won’t be back till Thanksgiving. So he sends his best wishes for a Happy and SAFE Thanksgiving to all!
myki,
keep you doggie away from some of our more illustrious cast members in this sorted sitcom…i won’t mention names……home home on the range, where the deer and the poodle dogs roam…..
and my wife could be from the same village, i need to check her papers soon, just to get….the rest…..of the story
if anyone goes to SL to watch practice, go up the hill past the gym, turn right, and then there is a parking lot on top. mention d1’s name, or bill stutzmann, they have reserved stalls in that lot from years of observing, haha
good vantage point to see the hole, i mean whole field.
duffer,
do they have fish in S. Dakota? thought only buffalos…..where is south dakota, isn’t it like snowing over there? hmmm, a man of many talents that Whitey guy…….happy turkey day to him also…..
ok,
sinc i got all my ‘work’ done because i have been in my office so long, i can check the WB all morning…..is that good or bad? i don’t know, and i won’t ask
coming up to Thanksgiving guys…..let’s all be thankful for what we have, our family, our friends, our jobs (if we’re not independently wealthy like some of our famous Tsaikos), and just be grateful for our blessings. if we can share a meal with a family or a person we know that will be going without, we should. if we can go help and serve at one of the ministries that will be feeding families less fortunate, we should. if we can help a neighbor who has a hard time getting around do some shopping, we should. if we can make a donation of food of any kind to an agency or church, we should.
it’s like the commercial about the family that…almost made a donation, almost shared a meal, almost spent some time, almost, almost, almost….
when was the last time you ‘almost’ had a meal when you were really hungry…..get my drift? bottom line is God didn’t give us his almost, he gave us his utmost…..
let’s see if we can share some aloha with someone who might not have any…..
ok………..sermon over, but i got lots more…………….
Coach Bulla ~ Good morning!
Wow, Diana and I were AWOL from what sounds like a real ‘Jail Break’ last Sat. nite! Gotta make up for it when LV comes to town.
You know the Ma’a family well enough to know cousin Lei Aloha’s husband, the leader of his band ‘The Posse.’ We’ll be spending the Thanksgiving week with this Wild Man on Maui:
http://www.branscomberichmond.com/
Now if I could only get him to headline our next Blog Anniversary Party.
Kekoa,
I’m bringing char siu; (J)J & homey said they’d help me grill ’em.
Bulla,
Hangin’ with the Tsaikos at karaoke is a blast. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lyn can dance! Since I’ve been home, the only time I’ve seen that sister is at karaoke. I didn’t know she could sing Japanese songs. Can’t wait till las vegas gets here.
Gotta get ready to head out. Esme & out.
kekoa,
give lei and the family our aloha, she is such a stunning person. her niece Misty is doing very well for kamehameha i believe. shoot, with her genes, she should be olympic material.
take care my brother and remember,
RING RING KALIHI RING, SWELLS THE ECHO OF OUR SONG….
will resound forever in the valleys of our forefathers……
Sing loud, Stand proud, and be Hawaiian! 🙂
Bulla & Mei Ling ~ Rajah!…Peace Out!
gmornin’ gangy.
Get out there and grab yourself a good day!
And don’t let anyone give anything else, but!
Good morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes…whew..long time no see everybody…
Alas, it is another Esme day…and I must Whooooosh soon….
Bulla/d1 – Well, seeing that a lot of Rodrigues, Silvas, Lopes, Medeiros, et al went to SLH…I can see why the grass, errrr, field turf would be shorter due to an “accident”….LOL…
Good morning peeps,
Lots of fun tidbits I found today on WSN (Yeah, I know they can be brutal in their opinions and comments, but you cannot deny that they are usually right in the middle of most UH sports related stuff)
With that said, sorry ST, but click my name and there was an editorial in the oddah papa, yesterday, that deals with the BoR at UHM…..VERY interesting.
Here is a supporting document? https://www.hawaii.edu/rcac/
So what? Can we go right in their offices and kick them out? Lets take Lingle to court? lol…lots of things are now coming together…..anyway
From the last blog:
Bulla: yeah, they link from ESPN that talks about Kapua said pretty much what you did. Hes got the frame, but technique and footwork needs working on.
Poof! back to work =(
(jesse)james
only a rumor my brother, you guys had a lot of the ‘chosen ones’ at your school also, haha
great seeing you the other night, as lyn said, ‘who was that sitting next to you?’. i told her, ‘james, you lolo head’. she replies, ‘wow, he was so dressed up, i didn’t recognize him!’ nuf sed
whew, fun times, mahalo again! i’m going to start drinking $3 beers instead of $4 sodas, for every 3 sodas i could have had 4 beers, and that is the math lesson of the day 🙂
XxFaithx,
i think that Timoteo and Grieg were outstanding on the OL for SL, and in the Oregon Summer Camp, they were #2 and #3 out of over 200 linemen in camp….pretty impressive. both strong, and great footwork…..oh well.
it’s like picking teams at crane park on a saturday morning….will you pick the tall guy who ‘should’ be good, or you pick the other guy who isn’t tall, but ‘might’ be good?
after the first 2 minutes you’ll know what you didn’t know…..
but john wooden said, ‘…you can teach’em to play, but you can’t teach’em to grow…’
OT set to visit Hawaii?
Percy Taumoelau (Cottonwood HS) Salt Lake City, UT, 6-5/300
Click name for newspaper article.
wafan:
do you have the “model” or name or number for the Toshiba?
tailgate menu for us:
beef stew – mac salad – mini musubi
Bulla: I haven’t really followed the OL for STL,but I did read about Sai and Grieg a lot. I was hoping that they would play for UH (Offered scholie and or walk-on,..but in todays recruiting world, Hawai`i is a HOTBED of talent and its hard to get a “Project” to walk on due to the sheer about teams that now will offer pretty much any player here)
And I totally agree, you can’t teach height and esp for OT’s nowadays. Wish them well where ever they play….just a couple of things though….don’t bad mouth the home team and don’t forget your roots.
back to work…again…lol
T-gate item for me….meat for grilling.
brrrrrrrrrrrrrr morning and very windy plus cold too. so how all the tsai-ko kane’s and wahine’s doing?
with this high winds don’t know if its a good idea to be at d1 perch watching game 😯 put on parachute just in case bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Good morning everyone!
Seems the blog server/software is having problems again the past hour… 👿
Stretch: Yes, $5 for individual game tickets.
Good morning Tsaikoland!
I need your help. My husband & I will be going to the Idaho game on Saturday. Yay it’s my first ever football game!
Anyway, which side is the best place to sit?
South Red/Yellow sections or North? We are using our military discount so that’s our options.
Thanks! I’m so excited!
Lit some candles in remembrance…
Lit 38 candles for Diana…I think she’s around 37 years old.
Good morning regulars, lurkers, and spammers.
Rain in the forecast for Saturday. Main thing get rain protection for the grill.
MLiz – got ya covered for Saturday.
Anyone else planning to put up Christmas lights this weekend?
Good to read recruits will be in town for the next 2 games!
GO WARRIORS
lilmermaid –
South…can see the jumbo screen
North…near the band and Rainbow Dancers, no can see the screen.
Oh, and join us at the t-gate!
Homey makes an appearance!!
Is that really Homey? 🙄
hi homey- thanks! So rain in the forecast huh? We should leave our 2yr old with papa then.
Where will the t-gate be?
…and about UH hoops…aaarrrrggggghhhhh. I watched the Tarheels and Wildcats play yesterday…awesome talent…I guess that’s the difference with big time college programs and UH. They have many many many R. Flemings type of talent or better.
Still early in the season and the WAC season is the main focus…
LET’S GO BOWS
Wahine V-Ball WAC Tourney this week…
GO WAHINE
Visit SteveM’s site for details:
http://home.roadrunner.com/~smurashi/tsai-kos/
I can imagine St. Louis’ turf being shorter because one babooze went mow the lawn.
lilmermaid I seat high up in the yellow section, north endzone…can’t see the jumbotron but I don’t care…clear view of the entire field, no afternoon sun in the face, no rain concerns- under canopy and wind driven rain doesn’t reach the yellow section but will in the red section. The south endzone, you get the sun in your face for a short period, ask A house if the rain driven by rain reaches his yellow section in the south endzone
Thanks Ralph. I’ll have to see which sections are still available when we go to buy to the tickets today or tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone!
Ralph – wimp… 😆
lilmermaid – we sat in South endzone, yellow nosebleed last year for the U-dub game. Stayed dry, could see jumbotron, but couldn’t hear anything – band, pa, officials, nada.
Good morning/afternoon everyone
Is anyone going to the WAC volleyball tournament on Thurs. or Fri.
jm2375 and lilimermaid:
we have season tickets in the South End Zone, Sec D, row 10 – can see everything, no get wet, restrooms and food just a few steps away – enjoy our time with some of the bus drivers.
tailgate is at Cabana A – must use Arizona Memorial road – first intersection make immediate R/turn – go all the way down to the guard and tell him you going to the Tsaikos gathering – cabana on R/side.
Mahalo, m-homey!
Looking forward to the T-Gate w/o the swamp trek this time 😆
cabana on L/side – correction
lilmermaid
Oops…you may be disappointed if you try to buy tickets tomorrow. Please call the ticket office first (SSC or Aloha Stadium)…finding the number for the Stadium was a chore on the internet. When Kekoa and I went (separately) to the stadium on Friday afternoon, a lot of the seats for the military were gone already.
A-House
Please do not post specific T-gate info on the blog. Better to direct them to Kazz. Kazz has had to screen some dubious requests for information that he suspects are from people who want parking…and may lurk this site.
SSC Phone # 944-2697
UH ticket office @SSC Phone # 944-2697
game is at the stadium, just practice at the Stadium. student bus pass is cheap
So I’m guessing with Stutzmann enrolling at UH and participating in spring practice, he won’t be a grayshirt guy. Nice.
Speaking of Seniors, if UH is blowing out any of their upcoming opponents, I’d like to see Seniors like Jake Santos, Dylan Linkner, etc. get some playing time.
RE: Stutz Version II
Methinks he will challenge Lane for starting spot……
J-dog: I agree, play Santos. I felt that the coaches should have used him in their QB rotation earlier in the season….he paid his dues and from all accounts, a better then decent QB.
Linkner is already set up. He’s interning at KITV.
As much as I would like to see Jake play I think they need to give as much reps to the backups as possible. They are only one play away. UH have some very important games to play. The backup has to be ready to step in. The more reps he gets the better.
When UH is romping its opponent in the bowl game then I say bring in Jake. The needs of the team come first. Sometimes players get caught up in the numbers game but the coaches have to do what is best for the team to succeed.
lab rat:
While I totally agree with your position, it would be nice to see Santos in for 2 or 3 series in any of the last 3 games or in the Hawaii Bowl.
How long have those new green car flags been out? Ouch!!!!! $40????
A-House,
From a sentimental point of view, I’m with you on playing the seniors, but I will be happy with just winning the rest of our games. It would be nice to have blow outs, but I’m not counting on it.
Senior night should be huge, what do we have? About 30? Wow, big number.
Nice to hear about Billy Ray, I think he will be a great one for us. Way to go, coming in early.
Tsai-Meister, great idea about the honorary senior walk, there would be quite a few who would deserve it.
I was in a similar situation to Stutzmann in that I finished my Senior year early, also my Junior, Sophomore, and Freshmen years…sometimes twice.
Good to see Stutzmann getting his academics and priorities in order.
ST:
I agree with your “honorary” senior walk for Kauka and Bess – espcially for Kauka because he is here and circumstances surrounding his final appeal. This seemilingly minor gesture can go a long way in the minds of all Hawaii athlethes who are contemplating going to the mainland rather than accept a UH scholarship.
Who do we have to lobby if it is not against NCAA rules?
Billy Ray: I’m gald to see that he will enroll at UH in January 2009, get to go to his Senior Prom, and “walk the walk” with his classmates.
Mrs A-House and I were surprised at his early commitment and most happy to see that he would follow in his brother’s footsteps. We always, and still do, admire Craig for making his commitment to UH early and stuck to it knowing that his Freshman year would still be with Von Oppen.
It would be most interesting if Billy Ray would really challenge Lane for the #1 spot. Maybe Billy Ray can add 20 or more pounds of muscle before first game of the 2009 season. Hit the weight room, baby!!!
ST,
Great idea about an honorary Senior Walk for Jonathan Kauka! It is too bad that he didn’t get the additional season.
There are two problems with giving Bess an honorary senior walk: he voluntarily chose to end his career (unlike Kauka) and Miami will be playing in December so he can’t make it to Aloha Stadium.
Great to hear about Billy Ray graduating early but still getting to participate in the big high school events! That is great for him, and having him in school early is great for UH.
This Indiana high school QB sure chose his QB idol well!
BG – we do have the same t-gate spot and not the place with no electricity, no water, and a 2 mile hike to the restrooms??? Actually it’s not a 2 mile hike because I used al’s tree. Hopefully there’s no confusion this time cause MLiz was ready fo’ beef! She told the other cabanaer’s, “Do you know who we are”? She makes the Superferry welcoming committee look like wimps!
I think this news is known already…but I wasn’t around for the past 3 days and I don’t think the article was posted.
I would have expected Oklahoma’s football budget to be WAY above Texas Tech’s budget…so, finding out that Texas Tech spent $4.3 million more than Oklahoma over this 5-year period really was surprising!
If you look at the table in the article, it shows that BSU spent the 2nd least out of the top 20 ranked teams…only Ball State spent less. BSU spent less and 1/5 of the money that Ohio State spent!
100?
Football sure pays off for many big programs:
Georgia spent $11.993 mil on football and had revenue of $50.169 mil!
Texas spent $15.209 mil on football and had revenue of $53.841 mil!
What’s the odds of Ball St joining the BCS bowl party?
Ball State spent $3.862 mil on football and only brought in $1.191 mil in revenue.
Cincinnati spent $7.446 mil in revenue and only brought in $5.956 mil.
ESPN says that Notre Dame’s chances to get Manti (who is visiting Notre Dame this weekend) are very slim.
Article in the TCU student paper about how fanatic football fans are in Texas. The author is from Aiea.
Poor Florida State will have major problems at safety this week. They lost a senior free safety for the rest of his career when he celebrated his first career INT.
Their other starting safety is going to miss at least half the game because he’s in the running for a Rhodes Scholarship.
homey,
Unfortunately for Ball State, the MAC’s strength of schedule is way down in the computers and in the minds of the voters. So, Ball State would need Utah and BSU to lose in order to have a shot at the BCS. This is one case where a WAC team is more respected than a team from another conference.
Ball State will not be joining the BCS party! Utah and Boise State would have to lose for that to happen. I don’t see it happening, but then again BC said last season that no team would go undefeated. What a tool!
If anyone is *not* a fan of RGM, you probably should skip my next batch of posts. RGM’s season is over since his team was eliminated from the CFL playoffs, and I found a lot of articles about him. Calgary beat them in the playoffs and Calgary went 4-0 against RGM’s team this season, with most of those games before RGM joined BC.
Shhhh Garret…we don’t want to give them a reason to disrespect the WAC some more!
BC’s offense moved the ball well…until they got to the red zone.
Forgot to mention that I saw “hubby” this past Sunday at Waipio Costco. I thought he shops at Iwilei Costco…anywhozit, I was going to say howzit but his eyes seemed preoccupied.
Nice description of RGM’s 36-yard reception.
RGM’s coach specifically mentioned him as someone who has a career ahead of him.
Garret and Rob25 – That’s why I asked what’s the odds…maybe jm#### can figure the out odds. Never mind, she only deals in real world numbers.
Looks like RGM has a career set in the CFL if he doesn’t stick with an NFL team next season. Great job in earning his spot!
“figure the out odds”??? What was I writing?
Only 3 new players were able to earn starting jobs at BC…and RGM did it without having the benefit of training camp and having to join the team after they had played half of their season!
RGM articles pau.
I wonder if he has the same look at the “gym”??
homey,
If BYU beats Utah, I think they will be higher in the BCS rankings than Ball State. So, since BOTH BYU and Utah can’t lose their game against each other, Ball State is left to hope that 2 BCS busters make it this year.
Trouble is, certain wins have made it possible for the BCS to just need 1 BCS buster this season and they can fill the rest of the spots with BCS conference teams. Still, there is a chance that there might be 2 spots available…trouble is, Ball State will probably not be in the top 2 of the non-BCS conference teams unless BSU loses.
In case anyone wondered, 5 dozon eggs fit in a 3lb coffee can.
Stretch – I’m sure he is focused at the “gym”.
Garret – I see, so the odds are almost zilch. I think Nevada will upset BSU.
Stretch – do you have to crack open the eggs or are they hard boiled?
Did the WAC refs somehow make their way to the Ball State-Central Michigan game?
homey – 5 dozen cracked eggs. I also opened 18 cans of vienna sausage. I have to feed my crew breakfast on Kauai tomorrow.
homey ✝:
What kind of exotic food you bringing..that last batch of worms were real good….
homey are you bringing oysters to the t-gate this weekend?
I saw Kekoa talking about tripe stew…what the hell is this world coming to? I mean seriously people, let’s eat better parts of the animals!
😆
I think someone should bring some tripe stew for the tailgate. I heard Rob25 loves tripe!!
Stretch – A case of vienna sausage! That is one of the best local comfort foods for breakfast out there! Eggs and vienna sausage with rice. Throw in some portuguese sausage, spam, brown and serve links, and condiments of shoyu and tabasco sauce…
I see the blog clock is doing the future thing again. Hey tekkies, did you look at the cpu frequency settings or parameters?
curveball – more worms again. This time it looks more like intestinal parasitic worms. Are you bringing a baseball glove and ball to the t-gate to play catch?
😆 ❗
Stretch – I would rather have the vienna sausages, but then again you cracked your eggs into a coffee can and I don’t drink coffee.
After all that hanging at work yesterday, I didn’t go to sleep until 11 pm. Guess I should have gone to Call the Coach after all. Might have won the football helmet…again.
Rob25 – I’m bringing imitation oysters. They are really made of beef. You should try it! Yummo!
Also, tripe stew would be da bomb!
homey – did you know that one serving is 3 links, 130 calories, 110 from fat. how comforting is that??
tsai, what was B Stutzmann’s injury on friday night? seemed like something with his shin.
Oxtail stew? Pigs Feet soup? Dinaguan? Mountain oysters?
Stretch – I don’t read the labels so comforting to me is the fullness and satisfaction I get as I recline on the sofa…and I’m still talking about food!!!
homey ✝:
I will bring a glove but I will have to throw left handed..torn rotator cuff..still fun though..I think I will bring some watermellon..creative huh..
Homey – I also heard there would be some kalding at the T-gate as well….
Rob25 – Homey is bringing mountain oysters….
Hey, if were going to bring stuff like tripe stew…yummy…than I should bring chicken feet and fish eyes….
curveball – shoots! I’ll go look for my glove and I also will throw left handed! I will also provide the baseball.
(J)J – we could go the nigiri sushi route and bring ikura and uni…
Ronnie – Are you like Rob25 in food selection? If so then I guess we have to get safe foods when you come to the t-gate.
One of the ultimate poke…ake, raw liver!!!
letsgowarriors
#139
he was getting cracks all night on that stupid play SL kept calling. they bring billy ray back across for the screen to the middle, and who is the Puns middle LB? exactly…..i saw dr. oishi down there on the sideline with him and they were icing it, then they put a wrap on it.
he was all busted up, but the season is over, and now on to bigger and better things with the Warriors. billy ray will light it up……and he’ll be ready come fall season.
GO WARRIORS
GO WILDCATS (X2)
Ball St and Central Mich. are all tied up…7-7.
homey ?:
Funny I just had liver for lunch..but I did cook it in chili pepper water..yum..do we have the good cabana for sure this time???
So this week two former (other paper) offensive players of the year and Damien graduates Kama Bailey and Kealoha Pilares will play against each other.
That has to be some kind of first, right?
curveball – If we don’t have the old spot then I can bring a fungo bat and hit you some fly balls!
Ronnie is just as picky as me when it comes to food….hahahahaha!
What is Dinaguan? Doesn’t sound appetizing and I do want to make sure that I can survive to watch the football game.
Good to see Bailey getting some playing time. Here’s hoping Bailey has a great game.
OK I just looked it up on Wikipedia…gross! No way am I coming near that stuff!
homey [underground]:
If it rains we can practice sliding..bring extra clothes
Rob25 – Dinaguan is just pork parts cooked in pork blood, vinegar, salt…
curveball – I may pass on the sliding because that means we have to have a running start and I don’t think beer and running mixes well.
I would like to see the Warriors defense completely dominate this game. Will the bye week affect their intensity? Will they be prepared and focused? Will they give up a big play or two? No can have mental lapses.
GO WARRIORS
Nuff said (as al would say)…Rob25 ain’t eating it!
So I was thinking about who the defensive player of the year was when Kealoha was OPOTY. It was B.J. Beatty and he plays at Colorado. Does anyone know how he has been doing since he’s been there? Is he an impact player?
Still no Guava sightings? I’d like to read his comments on the current coaches and the recruiting that has taken place so far.
Rob25 – I think he plays LB and does get some playing time. Not the Impact player yet…we’ll see the next 2 years.
ST-
Senior walk- will Mac return to the old traditional way of allowing the seniors walk the entire stadium?
Rob25-
checked ur email yet? Or do I have to “Daniel Craig” your email account?
Homey-
I miss those MMA Blog Slug Fests between Guava and Cool Ethan. Was crazy but they both got into it!
Too bad we couldn’t get him to come home to Hawaii.
I would like to see the Defense dominate also. They have given up too many big plays throughout the season and I would like to see them end that part of their game. I want to see Veikune pressure their QB and make him think every snap.
I really am looking forward to the Offense making some good progress and a couple of great plays. I still don’t think that I have seen the receiving corps play with heart for the full game and would like to see that come out. You gotta want it bad enough!
😆
A-joe: Love, love, love it!!! Thanks for that.
Homey ~ You’re making me ono for Dinaguan! The fish eyes are always saved for Pops…his exclusive rights because of seniority.
We do draw the line at the Ake. That we share. Everything taste so much better ‘fresh.’ I’m having Pig’s feet with smoked hocks for dinner later. That’s why a side of Dinaguan would be awesome!
For those who prefer ‘Beef Stew’ without the Tripe, Mrs. A-House is bringing in seperate Red Cross approved rations for the civilians.
A-joe – You are so right about going back to the old way of doing the Senior Walk…it was a walk around the stadium…and then all the fans got a chance to say thank you and good luck. I was a little disappointed the last couple of years because you didn’t really get a chance to just say thanks…without having to pay $20.
A-Joe – FWIW an anagram for cool ethan is colon heat.
Kekoa – That is why Mrs. A-House is my angel!
Sorry had to shudder a little when I read your post. 😳
Rob25 – Let’s hope this is the game that the defense is outstanding and the offense is magnificent. No getting shot in the foot in critical situations.
Kekoa – nothing like “chocolate” meat!
addahknowjoe:
Dont know if you saw yesterdays post but SLIDER thanks you for his blog name
Just read in the UH H-mail that the Wahine softball team (there is no kane softball team) will have an alumnae game this Friday. Not like I’m going but thought I’d mention it.
GO WAHINE SOFTBALL
re: Senior Walk.
I brought it up once, but the problem is that the credit union also buys advertising on K5. I just think they should pass out the plaques at the banquet.
it’s ridiculous that the players get smothered, and all of those people with field passes mob the seniors before they can greet the fans.
With 32 seniors this year, and a 6:30 p.m. kickoff, it could be a long night.
And the first person to take a senior walk?
Nelson Maeda.
Of course, senior walk is something I do every time I walk around my neighborhood.
This is the third day I’ve noticed this, but how come when I start typing, everybody stops, too?
You know, I’m here all day, but let the conversations flow …
Curveball-
Please tell Slider he is most welcome! =)
Tsai-Meister,
It’s because we’re all in awe of your mighty pen, like when the intimidating professor enters the auditorium and the students all clam up, lol.
har, har.
maybe i have the online equivalent of a booger on my lip and nobody wants to tell me.
Was Kama Bailey not offered by UH? Hard to imagine how he got away…to Idaho no less. He could have filled the RB position nicely after Libre graduates.
According to an article at the UH website all softball games at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium are free. Can’t beat that. I think they will have a very good team this year.
Great Day All!
Rough morning today…that dragged out into a rough afternoon….
Just caught up reading the blog.
Good to hear that Billy Ray will be able to go the early admit route and participate in all those Senior events. Can’t miss that St. Louis Commencement!
IMHO, THE BEST HS graduation in Hawaii Nei…all those Gentlemen of Kalaepohaku on stage in their white tuxedos…AWESOME!
And always a tear-jerker moment every year, usually when all those voices come together in song….whooo, chicken skin!
btw, Stephen I know metaphorically June is for grads and all but for accuracy sake, St. Louis graduations, as long as I can remember, have always been on Memorial Day weekend.
howzit tsai-ko’s
just sat down and began catching up on blog. hit with all the talk about fuuuuud especially the Filipino stuff. skipped school lunch cause spaghetti 😕 neva look to good. now really hungry so taking a detour and heading straight to thelma’s with the fam tonight 😀
stsai I agree cu should have this ceremony at banquet. this should be for the fans and players. family and fans want to appreciate each senior and their contributions to the program. btw how much money is K5 getting anyway?
So, did anyone see the ‘excessive celebration’ on the C Mich touchdown?
Bulla,
Don’t even go there! with the Field Turf at SLS! 🙄
d1 beg to differ but all 808 graduations in Hawaii Nei is da bestest. having gone to quite a few because of nephews, nieces, oddah family and friends children I get misty eyes when they all stand and sing their alma mater.
d1…DMHS graduation is same way…all the clean cut boys (men) in their tuxes..either black or white…with the mauve and gold lei…and singing the alma mater ….awesome…..
ST — what an unusual comment. If things stop, it is just the blogware playing havoc on the fewer numbers of surviving bloggers. The conversations continue to side-step and flow around you as usual 🙂
…that’s what I liked about you from long ago… you sometimes get totally ignored but keep your sense of humor. That’s why everyone likes you and when you are serious, we all stop and listen. It’s the kind of “control” that master teachers have…and why The Warrior Beat functions with minimal intervention.
Now, what do I win? 😆
james coming early sat? to the tgate I mean just in case rob25, stretch, homey and bulla lurking.
Mr. A-House . . .
Check your e-mail.
whoa coach tsai….i heard the tail end of your interview on 1500. never knew you were coaching a team? although i guessed it to be a basketball team at the mission.
good stuff.
I only got to watch the first five minutes of the Ball State-Central Michigan game then had to go out, but was able to make it back to watch the last half of the 4th quarter.
I didn’t get to see all the stuff in between, but that game IMO turned out to be as advertised, minus the questionable officiating calls early on.
good to see ronnie doing well.
sad to think that robbie won’t try some dinaguan.
(maybe we can tie her down and force feed her)
homey brings glove. son wants to know if you can catch a little pen for him?
finally,
so yah, just where is the tailgate this week?
cabana ‘a’
richies field pavillion 1, 2, 3
or area 51?
no forget bring your galoshes.
so why don’t we bring back kauka, bess, and rgm for senior walk. that would be cool.
whatever happened to rivers, peters, etc? they still working out?
i was talking to a guy with much knowledge and wisdom about football, uh football, recruiting, and stuff in general. he said manti was there at the last two warrior games.
not reading into this at all, but, still get chance.
realistically anything is possible in love, war, and recruiting. it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.
many a recruit have changed their minds come signing day. after all you never know just what may sway the decision in another direction. that happens, and when it does no matter which direction any young man takes we all need support our sons of hawaii.
…nuff said.
Hmmm, I thought I heard it was Blaine Gaison.
WarriorMojo,
Dats what I recall, too.
How you been? Long time, eh?
he lives……
warrior mojo lives.
hey why not drop by the tailgate this saturday?
al,
If not Mojo, then how about Waipahu’s newest millionaire?
Things will be great when you’re Downtown!
WarriorMojo I think Maeda did it in 79 en Gaison walked in 80

Kekoa,
Ummm…I like tripe stew. Are you bringing chile peppah watah?
Sorry for not knowing, but … Is the Senior Walk after the Cincinnati game?
pomai – 35-14 UH
Speaking of the Cincy game, when would word come from ESPN about picking up the game and changing the kick-off time?
Howzit peoples?
(Tsighs…) Don’t let anyone tell you the economy is ok. The proof is sitting in my computer and on my desk!!! 👿
Mojo & d1:
senior walk was started by Nelson Maeda – we were there in ’79 when he reappeared from the tunnel and fans stopped to figure out what was happening.
immediately, he was followed by another player, forgot his name, who also wanted a “last look” at Aloha Stadium.
ST:
Good neighbor, when are you going to tell us the names of the 5 recruits who will be visiting UH for the Idaho game?
Would rather read that on this venue rather than the Saturday morning paper.
letsgowarriors
“#139
he was getting cracks all night on that stupid play SL kept calling. they bring billy ray back across for the screen to the middle, and who is the Puns middle LB? exactly…..i saw dr. oishi down there on the sideline with him and they were icing it, then they put a wrap on it.
he was all busted up, but the season is over, and now on to bigger and better things with the Warriors. billy ray will light it up……and he’ll be ready come fall season.”
BULLA
i hear you on that. i sat in the 5th row by the st. louis bench. the way they used stutz was awful. holy smokes. they run that stupid play, he gets blown up over the middle, he’d limp off the field, some guy was rubbing him down, then ice, then they’d send him back, he limp on the field, they run that stupid play!!!!! THis happened many times. where is the use of his speed???
I felt sorry for him , especially seeing how PUNAHOU coaches used their wr.
I must admit, that was my first St.Louis Game this year and I was totally blown away at how bad the offensive play calling was. WHO CALLS THE PLAYS>?
wafan:
got it – domo arigato gosaimashita.
A-House . . .
You are most welcome. Thank you and your wonderful family for all you do for the Tsai-ko’s!
Pomai:
35-10 us
Are you bringing chile peppah watah?
I will..plus a bowl of fresh chile peppers out of my garden…
It’s great the Billy Ray is able to get his high school completed eraly and spend time with the team during the Spring. It will really allow him to get further ahead than he already is. He was particpating in the unsupervised workouts during the summer catching passes from the QB’s.
One thing about graduating early. It is good for the team to have the players out there gaining experience but I think it is also important for the student to do his Senior year activities like the prom and commencement. If there are more local players who can do graduate early, it would be good but wouldn’t recommend it for players from the mainland. The local guys are still “home” and can attend those special activities that will never occur again for them.
power outages suck.
you don’t realize how much you rely on electricity until its gone.
We were without power 4 hours this morning in Upper Kalihi Valley….3rd time in 3 weeks
Good evening Tsai-kos! Kind of late getting on.
Not sure how true this is but the Sports Animals were floating a story supposedly from someone close to the situation that a somewhat huge lineman from Kapolei may be rethinking his verbal to UCLA.
The recruiting still goes on even after a commitment.
Warriors will have a good game this Saturday, 47 – 10.
Let it rain, let it rain the Holiday Season is in the air!
Got to go watch my Korean show…laters….
CC – you sure you didn’t pull a ST and not pay the bill??
stretch,
not sure what ST didn’t do, but i don’t pay the whole bill for pearl city and mililani…
ST don’t pay any of his bills unless someone reminds him, just like taking his meds.
thats what Wena is for.
d1shima: Err, not sure what you mean there. All I know is it’s on ESPN at 6:30.
Rather, ESPN2.
tonight’s news from st. louis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lRnebP-YB0
ST – weren’t we supposed to have some Colt news/video from the Princess?
oh, btw, TAKE YOUR MEDS!! 😀
thats what i thought too. i was hoping to get sideline vids from the skins/boys game this past sunday.
again, lucky them.
Overweight is something that just sort of snacks up on you.
The Eight Worst Convenience Foods
According to some guy on the mainland
His # 1 is a good seller in Hawaii, but I’ll pass on #6
I thought of this list when someone mentioned Filipino foods
8. Meeter’s Kraut Juice (Stokely USA): Yes, that’s sauerkraut juice, which is even worse than it sounds. The taste and smell can be a bit, well, harsh, but KJ is reputed by its fans to have medicinal benefits (as a source of vitamin C, cure for intestinal bugs, etc.), which adds up to a classic case of the cure being worse than the disease.
7. Guycan Corned Mutton with Juices Added (Bedessee Imports): The best thing about this Uruguayan canned good is the very pouty-looking sheep on the package label — he seems to be saying, “Go on, eat me already.” The second-best thing is the presence of both “cooked mutton” and “mutton” in the ingredients listing, which would seem to have all the mutton bases covered.
6. Armour Pork Brains in Milk Gravy (Dial Corp.): If you’re really looking to clog up those arteries in a hurry, you’ll be pleased to learn that a single serving of pork brains has 1,170 percent of our recommended daily cholesterol intake. All the more ingenious, then, that the label on this product helpfully features a recipe for brains and scrambled eggs.
5. Sweet Sue Canned Whole Chicken (Sweet Sue Kitchens, Inc.): From its size (think growth-impaired Cornish hen) to its overall appearance (it’s stewed in a quivering mass of aspic goop), this product may change forever your idea of what constitutes a chicken. Gives new meaning to the old line about meat “falling off the bone.”
4. Musk Life Savers (Nestle Confectionery): You may think musk is a scent, but over in Australia, they think it’s a candy flavor. A candy flavor that tastes disturbingly like raw meat, to be precise. But what did you expect from a country where everyone happily consumes Vegemite?
3. Blind Robins Smoked Ocean Herring (recently discontinued by Bar Food Products): Possibly the world’s most bizarre prepackaged tavern snack. Interestingly, the product’s titular robin isn’t actually blind, he’s blindfolded — the better, presumably, to avoid looking at these heavily salted herring strips, which look like giant slugs.
2. Kylmaenen Reindeer Pate` (Kylmaenen Oy): This Finnish canned good may not be particulary tasty, but at least it answers the age-old question of why Rudolph was so eager for that safe, steady job on Santa’s sleigh team — he didn’t want to end up as a cracker spread.
1. Tengu Clam Jerky (Tengu Co.): Nothing you’ve ever consumed can prepare you for the horror that is clam jerky. Still, this product does score a sort of conceptual coup: If you’re the sort who’s always found raw clams too slimy and gelatinous for your taste, these dried, shriveled mollusks will help you dislike clams on a whole new level
LV – #228 😆 😆
#229 – sounds like an episode of Bizarre Foods!!!
The BCS folks decided to make an exception to their rule where only 2 teams per conference can make the BCS. This is bad for non-BCS conference teams, as it gives a way for the BCS to avoid having to invite 2 non-BCS conference teams. The scenario is unlikely, but it is possible…
jm,
I’ve seen the canned pigeon (#5) looked like the scene from Aliens where all the bodies are jellified and yellowish, all squishy and yucky with bones sticking out at odd angles
Looking at the BCS conference situation, the best scenario for the WAC and UH would be for Utah and BSU to win out. Then, both would be eligible for BCS selection and both would need to be taken if there weren’t enough other teams. The other thing that would need to happen is for Oregon State to lose, which could happen in the Oregon game.
Right now, the 4 at-large BCS spots are:
One team from the Big 12 (Oklahoma, Texas Tech, or Texas, one will be invited in addition to whoever is the Big 12 champion)
Florida or Alabama (one will be SEC champion, one will be invited to a different BCS bowl)
USC
Utah or BSU (if Utah loses to BYU)
If Oregon State loses a game, USC would be the automatic team from the Pac-10 and none of the other conferences might have a team rated high enough to be eligible, since the SEC and Big 12 already have their quota of 2. In that scenario, Utah *and* BSU make BCS bowl games and UH gets $650k or so.
lv – balut-like?
Free play link time. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you do not want the off-topic stuff.
It seems like a GREAT idea to recycle spent nuclear fuel instead of storing it! Not only would it remove the need to store and dispose of nuclear waste, but it would reduce the need to mine and process uranium.
Due to their major problems with worms and viruses, the DoD is banning all USB drives, CDs, flash media, and all other removable data storage devices from their networks…even though removable storage devices are relied on in the field.
Deputies tasered a pallbearer while he carried his father’s casket…couldn’t they have waited until he had finished loading the casket into the hearse?

All of the Vandals’ points will be scored in the second half.

Jm,
I would add the balut and natto to the above list
burp! Gyoza tonite at the lv household
plenty of garlic burps by me and garlic futs from the dogs
Jason,
So the Cincy game will kick-off at 11:30pm EST?
Jason,
I only see it listed on ESPN360 right now. I thought there was talk of showing it on ESPN or ESPN2 but moving the start time up?
lv – ok, now you’re getting gross. dog farts are stinky!
MMM… tripe stew, chili pepper water and poi! I’m hungry now… well, at least until I read las vegas’ #231.
Fo real… gotta grind. bbl.
Jason,
Never mind. I see it…was looking at the TV listings, not the CFB schedule.
Howzit Liz! Got your new dish today? I’d be interested in your review of DishTV HD. We’re thinking about switching, but according to HawTel, we can’t get DSL, so we can’t ditch Oceanic just yet.
Long day. My turn to be sleep deprived….
Oyasumina-tsai….
Jm,
I disagree, doggie farts are just air with microscopic, aromatic particles in them.
And what are farts after all, but proof that we exist, just little toots in the darkness, tiny pockets of stinkiness that waft in and out of our noses.
If not for doggie farts, whom could I point the finger and say “the dog did it”?
curveball,
Mahalo for bringing the chile peppah watah!
oops, off to catch the last few matches of sumo, be back l8er
Pomai

Did we mention that Dr. Doc is at home?

another waipahuan hits the beeeg one.
gee, i met another waipahu lady who hit it big some few years ago. worst is, she still lived in her humble abode. no fancy stuff except her mercedes benz which she already owned prior to hitting the millions. oh btw, she could afford the benz cuz she is also a doctor.
no fair yah.

If only loyal readers read this blog, I’d post a lot of things. But the first rule of journalism: Don’t scoop yourself.
Or was that the first rule of being a cat?
I agree with letting the seniors walk around Aloha Stadium. I think not only to be able to thank the players, but also to give a chance for the young ones to be able to get an autograph and meet their favorite players. I remember when I was one of the young ones, I look forward to the senior walk. In addition to seeing some great games, I also remember fondly the chance to meet and get an autograph form Garrett Gabriel, Mike Tressler, Bam Bam Travis Sims, and David Maeva to name a few. Its too bad the young ones don’t have the opportunity.
get well dr doc.
life is too precious to rush in to anything right now. take it slow. do the exercise.
good luck to you dr.doc and w-doc.
i’ve been loyal.
mostly to your stomach
Rest up DrDoc and WassupDoc. WDoc – your main responsibility now is to take care of your hubby. Please let the other stuff go for now. A caregiver cannot give care if they themselves are not well.
Al – I’m loyal too.
‘K, nitey nite. Hasta manana.
jm2375- Dish network has worked well for us. The HD in Hawaii is limited right now but while I was eating some rice with furukake, konbu, shoyu chili peppers and fermented tofu, I watched the highlights of the Redskins/Cowboys game and it looked very nice- even on our modest 37″ Toshiba 😉
Price-wise you are probably better off staying with Oceanic. HawnTel is pretty shaky right now.
MissingUHFootball- good points. btw- I see Mike Tresler through work every now and then 😉
first!
las vegas….i guess you have seen me eat.
really dave is that you?
prove it……
ST is Mouton’s move to safety because E rob’s hammy or is it because the safeties have been torched by speedy receivers
