Overtime
To make up for the missed practice caused by the tsunami threat, the Warriors will extend spring training.
Spring training was set to end with the April 15 Warrior Bowl on the Manoa campus. The makeup practice is set for Monday, April 18, and will be spent mostly on special teams.
Also, the talk-story clinic for coaches has been rescheduled for Friday, April 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The entry fee is $20, which will cover refreshments. For information, call (808) 956-6508.

Chad Ikei, who has worked with many former Hawaii football players, has sold his business in Arizona and plans to open a training facility in Hawaii. After living on the Mainland for 19 years, Ikei and his family will move back in August.
This year, Ikei is training seven players with Hawaii ties, including former Warriors Mana Silva, Laupepa Letuli, Adrian Thomas and Kainoa LaCount.
This weekend, Ikei will be conducting a clinic for kickers. It will be held at the recreation center in Kahaluu on Oahu’s Windward side. For information, call Rockwell Fukino at (808) 723-5321.

The other day, we wondered what the CollegeInsider.com Tournament did with all of the participation fees it collected from the teams. Then it hit — ding, ding, ding — wouldn’t it be great if the money was thrown into a pot, with the tournament winner claiming it?

Happy birthday to the mother of all mothers, Esme.
Go Warriors!
Go Wahine!
Ignore the trolls!
Oh, forgot
Happy St Paddy’s Day!
ST=Saint?
So a few days ago, I wondered aloud why athletes go away to train. And now Chad Ikei is moving here.
Today, I wonder aloud what it would be like if I won MegaBucks.
Oh and..
Go Irish!
I have them going to the Sweet 16 in my pool. 🙂
Ok ’nuff already
Why charge for a talk-story session?
I guess the NCAA considers it a recruiting advantage to provide free beer and pupu to high school coaches.
Morning!
What does the money go to from the talk-story session?
MIH:
It goes to beer, soda and food.
So each attendee will eat $20 worth of food??? How much do potato chips cost anyway? lol
And I was around when they were placing orders for “green bottles.” Hmmm. Suddenly, a lot of people are coaches.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
Hubby is Irish, English and Scottish.
Since Korea is considered the Ireland of the Pacific, I guess I am Irish, too.
There will be poke.
I was watching Real Sports yesterday, and now I know what happened to Sean Salisbury.
Debating whether I should google Sean Salisbury. Who dat?
Anyway, I think the format for the coaches social is a good idea.
If you prepare a lecture of Xs and Os, you’ll just get plenty of Zs.
But you put a bunch of coaches in a room, free to wander and wonder, then you’ll get some nice exchange of ideas. Well, as long ILH people mingle with OIA people.
Gigi:
Sean Salisbury was a backup quarterback in the NFL for eight years, then a football analyst for ESPN for about 12 years. He was everywhere, and then suddenly he was nowhere. I think he did one of the UH games in Fresno. I wasn’t really paying attention at the time, because, you know, like some people, I’m self-absorbed, but he apparently shared a picture of himself that he shouldn’t have shared. He denied it, threatened to sue a bunch of outlets, and last year finally confessed to the one-time incident.
Good morning everyone!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ESME !!!
…famous mom and Tsai-ko verb!
I hope they didn’t chill the beer from the tsunami time then let it get warm. Unless the coaches like to drink skunky beer
Thanks, ST.
Sounds like something Brett Favre would do…
Anyway, I thought it was fascinating that the guy was on all of the time, and then he disappeared, and I didn’t even notice. I was at a lunch yesterday, and one of the people brought up his name. And I was like, oh, yeah, I remember him. Then I was randomly watching a Real Sports’ piece on deadspin.com, and he was one of the featured people. Weird coincidence. But, again, more puzzling that I didn’t notice he was off the air for a couple of years. Just like now I’m wondering: What happened to Jerry Springer?
Top Twenty!
Good Morning Tsai-kos!
Stretch:
I was thinking about that process, except with the poke.
Happy March Madness!
UH mens basketball game Saturday hopefully will be online at
http://www.b2tv.com
Tuesday game against Portland Pilots was available live
Then again, my memory is fading. For instance, why do I have all of these strings on my finger …
good morning and happy st paddy’s
whew close one yesterday for da wahines but still a winna winna chicken dinna. congrats to dem ladies.
another year for esme have a happy day
I generally avoid raw fish. After Natalie Cole had her kidney transplant, her doctors told her not to eat sashimi.
ST – please don’t think of me today, I value my minimum wage paying job
Spoke with Miah Ostrowski last night.
Apparently Manti Teo and Roby Toma were at the game Tuesday night. Both wore those specially made Miah T-shirts.
It would be something, though, if both wore those green shoes.
Good morning Tsaikos!
Happy Birthday Esme!
ST – please make sure you are still covering the MVB game vs USC (!) the night of the coaches’ social. There should no SA stories on MVB without your byline.
If Stretch has a minimum wage job, then what do the rest of us have? 😆
Wish they would sell those Miah shirts to the general public…It would be a great boost for the UH Basketball team in exposure.
Obama on TV talking about Japan radiation problem now in a special report.
Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂
Happy Birthday, Esme!
Top forty for travellin’ Tom.
Welcome back to Chad Ikei. Great to have him and his services located in the islands.
happy birthday mother of song!
Prayers for Japan.
prayers for the world!
Reardon and I return from Hilo at 3:30, or so.
Remember when you could only get turkey during the holiday seasons?
I wish we could have corned beef all of the time.
Scary times ahead with Big Bad BYU coming up, and speed demon California awaiting in the hole.
Happy Birthday Esme!
And a Happy Good Morning to you too WSF!
I wouldnt mind those Oregon-esque loud a** green shoes from Addidas IF IF… they wore the all blacks.
One gimmicky uniform deserves to be worn with gimmicky shoes. 😎
Stretch,
I’m sure the coaches won’t mind skunky beer.
I mean they already ordered green bottles…….
OH SCHNAP!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I think the only way one can get away with selling Miah’s shirts are if they use his image, but black out the “HAWAII” on his uniform and everything else associated with the university as:
-UH themselves cannot sell items for profit with a student-athlete’s name or image.
-3rd party vendors avoiding using UH branded tapa print to avoid trademark/licensing issues.
Having the UH pep band last night was fantasic!!!
I got chickenskin when they played “Fight For Old Hawaii” inbetween an inning and our fight song “CoEd” at the end of the game as the players came over and gathered in front of the band to thank them.
It really solidified and sent the message that the softball team is just as much a part of the university as any other “big” program.
Plus, it’s always great to hear your university’s fight song played live by the band after a win!
The parents of the players really loved the band as well.
You don’t see a lot of D1 college programs bring the band over to softball games outside of UCLA and maybe Florida.
Depending on the pep band’s ability, the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club, Coach Coolen, and UH administration are mindful that the UH band has many other obligations on top of performing at UH sporting events, not to mention their own academic priorities just like any other student and student-athlete at UH and with that being said, the next appearance for the UH marching band will be further explored.
Don’t think Miah did it for profit. It was a gesture for his friends, family and teammates.
Kazz – props to you and the Booster Club for getting the band to play!!
The band is sorely missed when they are not at games, like last weekend’s volleyball games.
It was interesting the band was there for volleyball, but the section was still roped off.
Glad Brennon Dyer made the trip. Should be interesting since Welch is playing well.
Welcome back, Chad! A Cougar…wooo hooo! Thank you for the training you’ve given to our Hawaii boys.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the one and only Esme!!!
pp…had to think twice and remember that a cougar is also a large cat. what was i thinking?
i’ll bet that the mbb team will be wearing that lime green shoes again.
ST – Dyer looked like he was still limping a little on Saturday.
Oh no I didn’t mean it to come off that way, I was just saying that IF a 3rd party thought about selling shirts that that’s how they might get away with it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ESME!

Lower campus on Saturday is going to be a parking mess.
Big basketball game combined with baseball game as well. It’s a good thing that the softball bracket/championship game will be earlier in the day so we can snag decent parking before everyone else does. 😎
Funny thing is I had corned beef and cabbage the other night and I thought the same thing before I ate it and thought differently AFTER I ate it.
ST,
you really like corned beef that much?
Looks like there is a Women’s Track & Field Meet going on at Ching Field Saturday afternoon also. LOTS to choose from!
Went to UH to watch the Wahine softball game shortly after 1 p.m. Parking lot filled; very common during school hours. Looked for on-street parking but no luck. Finally went home and took the bus. Guess I’ll be doing that anytime the games are scheduled during the week day when classes are in session. Live and learn.
Howzit, everyone!
Good to see so many positive things happening all through our UH athletics landscape!
Wish we could’ve attended more events while we were there… still lots more Tsaikos that we haven’t met yet, including the Dean himself, and his gang!
Happy birthday, Esme!
Lanaiboy – #62 – I think after about 2 or 2:30, the parking structure starts emptying out. You should check with sj-macro. If you go in before 4pm, fee is $4 instead of $5. The other place you might look is the Hawaiian Studies Bldg, further down Dole St.
Stretch,
We’ve also got the first round of the Nutball Championships over at Johnson Hall. It would have been over at the quads but none of us attend UH anymore.
The public is welcome to attend. Please bring beer.
I need to remember post #319 from 3/16.
Go bows!
Longboarder did you respond to WSF post #260 from 3/16. I guess you and BB didn’t get to watch the softball game last night.
I didn’t know he was waiting for an introduction from anyone, maybe WSF can post another offer and be specific on when he will be at the game
Ralph,
Nevermind that crap. Come play Nutball.
The sport can make you feel young again.
ST, go get some brisket and salt ’em yourself.
The Judi Garman Classic at Fullerton will define UH position amongst the top programs in the next poll.

Gigi:
I like it when it’s made with, I suppose, real corned beef. Not the canned one.
Remember Lynn’s in Ala Moana.
They used to have really good corned beef and pastrami.
I remember my friend ordered pastrami on rye with cream cheese. I figured I’d give it a go. It was great. Of course, it was punishing on the lactose intolerant. But, hey, well worth it.
ST,
Ewww…
I hate corned beef of any kind. Cabbage even more so. Yes, even cabbage kim chee.
Pastrami? Yummy! I just made myself a pastrami sandwich with clover sprouts for lunch today. Grrreeeat.
J:
My cardiologist, Dr. Hingson Chun, has a meat-smoking machine at his house.
I used to wonder why a cardiologist would do that. But then somebody said that doctors usually were good at chemistry, and this is sort of an extension of that.
And, of course, the other answer is: Because it tastes great.
We went to Carnegie Deli in New York. Now that’s a pastrami sandwich. Thing is, they charge you extra if you share it with someone. It’s an all-in deal.
And that’s why I have a cardiologist.
ST – medical personnel make the worst patients. Wait a minute, is Dr. Chun a Roosevelt classmate of yours?
a different way to serve your corned beef.
instead of the traditional boiling until it is really dead…try this.
fire up the hibachi and grill the corned beef on a low fire for a bit. it will make for the best tasting irish pipikaula. slice em thin and serve with your favorite beverages.
add more chili pepper if you like it hot. or better yet the vinegar, shoyu, chili pepper water mixture.
Explains why this Ph.D (Biochem) that I know brews beer…
No need smoker. A few pounds of brisket, kosher salt, some herbs and a lot of patience (you gotta wait about a week)…
i think that corned beef is really a guy thing.
best reuben sandwiches were to be found at the old tahitian lanai restaurant. not to forget their popovers, moa tahari, eggs benedict, baked avocado with crabmeat, curries, and the like. oh do i miss that place.
and for the real men…chicken liver omelette.
*whoosh* *peeking in cautiously*
What’s up, Tsaikos? Howzit, ST!
Awww, thanks for the sweet birfday wishes. I regret that it’s been a while since I’ve hung out in the Tsaiko online clubhouse. So I have to say that it is really nice to still be remembered and thought of by some. Thanks, everyone!
🙂
Fuud is my favorite subject! Keep it coming! lol. oops
hiya Esme! Long time no see. Happy Birthday!
For our 45th class reunion, our class decided to paint the cafeteria lanai. Afterward, we had a bento lunch and then toured the new auditorium and stadium.
This year, our class is going to reunite to celebrate our 65th birthday.
I still keep in touch with my RHS classmates. What a fun group!
I remember the Paintbrush Trophy that we won, playing football against Punahou. Those were the days.
gigi! Long time no see, fo’ real! Glad to see you’re back on the blog. Hope all’s well with you!
Esme,
yeppers! Hubby and I are very happy these days.
Hiya Esme!
RE; #85
gigi — 65th birthday? Hmmm, look in your Roosevelt yearbook and see if knew/remember Arthur Misemer.
Gigi,
My friend who graduated from Punahou n the 80’s told me a tradition about that paintbrush. When Roosevelt and Punahou would play each other in football, the winner was allowed to paint the dome of the losing school the winners school colors. Is that true?
SteveM,
okay. I’ll look for my annual.
sportsforfun,
That was an old prank that got out of hand, so admin decided to establish a Paintbrush Trophy instead. lol. so funny.
Yep, he’s a Rough Rider.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Tsaikos!
There’s nothing like watching NCAA B-ball while sipping a Guiness. Remember when the original Fab 5 went? If it wasn’t for that Sikma guy…
SteveM,
yes, I recognize Arthur Misemer. He didn’t sign my annual, so he wasn’t in any of my classes, but I recognize his face. So few haoles at RHS back then.
BTW, hubby and his brother, Michael, are Rough Riders, too.
that’s what she said.
ST one word: Pisupo
whitey,
I’m sorry that I didn’t respond to your posts, but I had shut down my computer after posting my last post and hadn’t seen yours. Then the blog went crazy for a few days…my rule is that I cannot post until I read all the comments, but when there are a zillion comments (very few actually about football) then I run out of free time just trying to catch up.
I don’t know how fast I type–it used to be really fast when I was a computer programmer, but I think my wife types much faster than me (she put herself through college by working as a secretary).
Happy Birthday Esme!
Kazz – I was asking about Hingson Chun, who is a member of the Hunky Bunch You are too young to remember them. Basically, they were a Brady Bunch-type family, all of them runners.
Florida’s governor is looking to make *huge* cuts to their education budget to balance their budget. Among the cuts are high school football and band.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/17/high-school-football-to-b_n_836767.html
In fact, if Florida’s governor gets his way *all* middle school and high school sports will be eliminated. Wow, that would really change college sports across the country!
Florida’s Republican governor also rejected the $2.4 billion that the federal government wanted to give them for a high-speed rail system. Pres. Obama now says that any state can apply for the $2.4 billion…that sure would put a *lot* of people to work in Hawaii and pay for a big chunk or all of Hawaii’s rail project.
Garret – the Florida gov must not have been an athlete. 🙄 Guess they need a Save Our Sports fund too.
It is great that Chad Ikei is moving back to Hawaii. UH can benefit a lot from his expertise and it would be nice for UH athletes to train in Hawaii instead of Arizona.
A few hours ago, I agreed to help put on a MAJOR fundraiser at Restaurant Row this Saturday to help support relief efforts by the Red Cross for Japan. The event will run from 4 pm to 10:30 pm so please drop on by either on your way to or from the University regardless of which sporting event(s) you’ll be attending. Please bring your checkbooks or debit/credit cars and take the opportunity to spread some Special Aloha. If you cannot attend the event but want to make a donation, there are a number of ways to do so. All the major banks have set up accounts.
In addition to the live entertainment – including taiko drumming by Kenny Endo’s group – you can bid in a silent auction and enter the drawing for some really super prizes, including a trip to Las Vegas.
Again – does anyone want our baseball tickets for Saturday? If so, send me an e-mail to swood at hoku dot com. Please include your complete name and contact telephone number and I’ll leave them at the Will Call window.
If no wants them, then I’ll just stop by The Les on my way over to The Stan and give them away.
Is it true Coach Mack was the Grand Marshal of today’s Waikiki St. Patrick’s Day parade? Wow, this little leprechaun should’ve run out there and taken some photos…dang! 🙂
I just looked it up and saw an Advertiser article that said that the rail project would cost Hawaii taxpayers $3.7 bil. There is $2.4 bil sitting there now, money that Florida didn’t want for their rail system…
http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2008/Feb/17/ln/hawaii802170362.html
WassupDoc,
I can’t come to your event, but I just sent in a donation to support the Red Cross efforts in Japan…I was contacted by a company that offered to *match* any money donated (up to a point), so Lori and I sent in separate donations that were matched.
Yea! Nice blog posts today – full of the usual F’s 😆
Gigi- You like pastrami and don’t like corned beef??? Just take the fresh corned beef, lay some black pepper around it… voila!
Nice to see Esme the proper noun!
Got my gorgeous Wahine Softball Booster shirt today… yeehaa!
HiHo!
#78 al… one smoked slab of corned beef taste guud too.
Happy b-Day esme…some remember the vocal renditions too…been awhile.
#96 Kazz, behave yourself and stop with the Skittles already. Not game time yet..
al….and for the real men…chicken liver omelette…I get one chicken running amok in my yard. You like come get um? make your chicken liver omelette…free, just catch da bugga.
eh… we had our corned beef dinner on Tuesday to avoid the mad rush.
#67 I didn’t make it to the game.
After reading the post last night (#319) I think it is safe to say that any anger that I want to display towards this individual (I have been saying I would bitch slap him numerous times over the past few months) would be inappropriate. If it wasn’t the case believe you me I would have done something.
Actually I believe I know who this person is and we’ll just leave it at that.
#319 from 3/16!
I think that Hingson Chun is the same guy that was the smartest fella in my 1st and 2nd grade classes at Lincoln Elementary. Although Hingson had kind of an “oh shucks not me” type of attitude. That used to make Gary Gill very jealous and angry.
Happy Birthday Esme.
Tsai –
Love what you’ve done with the place. It seems light and airy, with a much happier feel to it. 😉
How about them Wahine Softball ladies?! Coach Coolen is doing a great job! 🙂
oops
mmmmmm corn beef. goood…
mmmmmm corn beef. goood…
Can’t stop thinking about corned beef, pastrami and pisupo now. That’s not good for a guy who has thirty more pounds to lose… 🙁
Not to mention beer…
Anybody enjoying March Madness?
I love having the ability to control what I want to watch
instead of CBS cutting to the game of their choice.
Not as much as SPACE MADNESS… 😈
Liz,
You got the shirt?
Freakin USPS tracking # says otherwise… oh well… 😯
Had my first Irish Car Bomb over at Murphy’s annual St. Patty’s Day blockparty years ago.
DELICIOUS!!! Dangerously delicious…
Oh yeah… HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!!
WDoc,
Good luck with your event. Hope there’s a nice turnout.
As for me, I just mailed a check to the American Red Cross. If everyone donates $100, think how great that would be for the people of Japan.
Kazz…order two shirts when the next order is taken.
Liz,
I love pastrami, especially when it is sliced real thin.
I detest corned beef, though, the kind that’s been boiled.
And the cabbage always looks sickly when it’s been boiled, too.
ugh!
DPK,
My downfall is cookies. Any kind cookies — oreos, lemon cookies, animal cookies, coconut cookies, etc.
Yes, cookies and skim milk — my kind of breakfast.
gigi..
My weakness is chips…
Potato chips.. taco chips… apple chips… poker …
Is it safe? 🙄
That’s what she said…
It is true that Hingson was a member of the Hunky Bunch.
A single father of three boys married a single mother of three girls.
They used to run marathons together.
They were featured in a collectible SI issue — the one profiling Henry Aaron’s 715th homer.
nsf…corned beef rolling in a boil right now.
smoked corned beef eh? got to try that one. three – four hours you think? guava branches.
that was saute chicken livers with a madeira sauce. ouch!
kazz 134…what shooting blanks?
I found it interesting that HuffPo is seemingly so concerned now with HSFB; can’t ever recall Arianna pictured at Friday Night Lights! In fact, except for using it to promote their own interests I really doubt that most readers of HuffPo actually give a rip about HSFB players.
I haven’t read the actual budget but it seems that the “spin” is coming from those who are resisting a reduction in the overall budget by scare-mongering folks in FL with something that will elicit a visceral reaction to the Gov’s plan.
It actually seems to be individual school boards that are listing sports as part of a list of items under consideration for reduction or elimination.
http://www.news4jax.com/news/27191834/detail.html
..of course they leave out the part about reducing tax-payer funded pension contributions to balance the cuts.
Corned beef with swiss cheese on rye from Lyn’s…
“swiss cheese” came to mind as I look at my bracket….pfffttt!
(No 10 Grand for me!)
Is truTV only available online?
mih,
How ’bout buffalo chips, cow chips… :p
Al,
After many years of playing Nutball. Maybe. Must be. No kids yet. That I know of… 😆
😳
Happy Birthday esme!
(Would you mind passing the mic over, please? 😉 )
“Ironically, the most sensible extracurricular activity to be eliminated would be the most controversial … Football. Yes … it’s excessively expensive compared to other sports, it’s played only by one sex — boys — and the evidence grows regularly now that it is a terribly dangerous sport, rife with concussions, which can damage young brains. There must be a good reason why virtually nowhere else in the world is what is distinctively called “American football” played.
Now, the hue and cry that would go up if schools started trying to drop our favorite sport would be at the mega-level. It would, in fact, be called “un-American” — and would probably produce more hysteria than raising taxes would. But from a strictly realistic, cost-effective, health-effective, culture-effective point of view, it would make the most sense to drop football. That would allow art and music to remain in school, and divert boys into safer athletic exercise.
Or look at it this way. If administrators actually threatened to eliminate football, the football people might finally have to try and take the deadly violence out of the game.”

I enjoyed reading this blog. I think it is well written and will keep my eye on it for more quality information. Cheers!
If you do da Irish step dance, be shua fo keep da arms straight to da side.
BIK
Wilber can stay. But his link can’t.
Hmmm…
who to dislike more? UCLA or Mich State?
…guys who won’t play UH or guys who talk stink after they do?
D1,
I have MORE than enough hate to go around.
Money can buy a lot, but it can’t buy the Bruins a made FT

Kazz,
As long as the Skittles can enter your reactor vessel I no worry about you. 😆
Oh my! Talk about a “walk-off” win…
Let’s go Bows.
Hit, Run, Score!!!!!!
Well, come May it looks like no more open Borders in Waikele.
http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/118210124.html
Sigh. Too late. No corned beef left in the neighborhood stores. Oh well.
Yes, too bad. My books sold well at Waikele Borders.
Here we go, Kaia!!!
What is with this running out of the box before making contact?
Tonight, I was all set to bake some breaded chicken thighs. Set the oven to 350 degrees. Sprayed the baking pan with oil.
Then I checked the fridge. Auwe no mo Progresso Bread Crumbs!
So, guess what. I made shoyu chicken instead. Yummy! Hubby ate 2 servings. Only one thigh left.
Eileen!
huh?
Saba with leftover pasta with broccoli and kale.
das y hard. 🙁
ST,
Is Hingson’s mother Connie Chun? She lived about a block from me in Foster Village and made the headlines when she refused to get rid of her pet pig, which was humongous.
The neighbors complained, but that was over 20 years ago. Don’t know what happened to Connie or the pig…
ok… one pitch and clear!
Happy St Patricks Day everyone. Stay away from the beer dpk.
Oh Liz, I thought you said “One pitcher of Beer!”
Haha gmahoney!
Jenna!!!
The wind is picking up, judging by the pitcher’ s hair..
Yeah! Another hit!
Awww… Left em stranded. 0-0
Nailbiter,
blah blah blah no blah blah blah hitting blah blah blah
Actually, their bigger issue is fielding. Notwithstanding the losses, Parnaby’s and Rickett’s ERA are low — because of the errors. Look at Mel’s fielding percentage at 3B and Iwata at SS.
Yes, some are struggling at the plate, but the errors are compounding their problems this year.
My personal dietary consultant, aka Dr. No, relented and let me have 2 beers tonight. Irish eyes are smiling!
After the Wahine SB games I tuned into that “Leprechaun” movie on the SYFY channel. Ya know, the one with the evil Leprechaun with nasty teeth. Hiarious!
Hilarious even!
If you can’t do the basics, you can’t win. Period. Field, throw, catch, and hit. Too many strikeouts and too many swinging for the fences. This Wahine team doesn’t mirror last year’s team. Not even close. The facts are that this team’s chemistry is lacking. I have a feeling that they just thought they could show up and win games easily. Not so fast. It’s good to have some humble pie sometimes, but they have to snap out of it. But, the trends are not good. This team cannot hit to save their souls compared to last year. They don’t seem to be able to execute the samll ball fundamentals well.
That softball guy is weird.
After todays debacle at the hands of BYU and Iona, there is a good chance the Wahine will not be playing on Saturday.
It is a good thing Pomai and Kazz did not attend todays games it would have made them sick, especially the Iona game. The Wahine had the bases loaded 3 times and could not even score, at least twice with no one out.
They will be quite fortunate to be still in the rankings come next week. How far have they fallen.
When you want to see someone succeed, you love them, encourage them and support them.
When you want them to fail, criticize, denegrate, backbit and wish them ill.
But be careful. What one wishes upon others becomes one’s own fate.
The way UCSB got manhandled by the Gators today, it seems to me that Hawai’i is going a step down in conference play concerning bball in the Big West. Not a lot of respect for the Big West as UCSB was seeded 15th in the NCAA Tourney. They actually played like a play-in 16th seed. Regular season champion LBSU went to the NIT and lost in the first round to Washington State badly. Hopefully things will be more competitive next year. Or maybe Hawai’i can win the Big West and go dancing in a couple of years, if not next year, its last year in the WAC.
happy birthday esmemememememe!!!!!!
Hello, Mr. cut!
Even though the CIT is not considered a big time tourney, it’s a good spring board for next year. The recruits are watching online, and excitement starts to build for next year in the fans with every win and big attendance.
I really was happy to see another Kauai gal in the lineup tonight!
The University of San Francisco is no slouch as they finished third behind Gonzaga and St. Mary’s in the WCC with a 10-5 mark. This is a good game for Hawai’i.
sportsforfun- I’m not a big BB fan but do support the BasketBows!
Hopefully, Hawai’i will have a great year next year being that it will be their last in the WAC. With the new recruits who committed to UH coming in, hopefully the chemistry of the team will be great next year. It will be interesting to see how the team responds to Miah coming in late December. Hopefully it will be like this year where the team rises up to another level of play.
Yup… BasketBows are getting REAL! 🙂
LizK, I’m the same way with the other non-revenue sports UH has.
WOW, who’s doing the censoring on the blog? lol
😈 Now you see em, now you don’t!
I have never watched Miah play, though I have read about him in the newspaper and here on the blog. So, when hubby told me Miah is just 5’8″ tall, I was surprised. Is that true?
How can such a short person energize the team so well????
Hubby said Miah would probably qualify for the NFL than for the NBA because of his height. Good luck to him!
gigi- Think Steve Nash.
Liz,
isn’t Nash at least 6 feet, though? Love, love, love the guy!!!
Sion Milosky – RIP – God Bless!
Yes, Steve Nash is 6′, but he is such a great passer. He does make his teammates better in Phoenix. I think Miah is the same to the UH bball team. He makes them go offensively. He knows where to place the ball to make it easier for his teammates to score.
Miah will be defending Rashad Green who is 6’4″, and is a scorer for the Dons. It will be a great challenge for Miah!
k. Gotta go sleep.
Nitey nite and SWEET *.Bows DREAMS!
Oh Yeah- Go SWIM BOWS!

The current Head Coach for the Dons is Rex Walters. He is in his third year there. He played at Kansas and in the NBA as the point guard. The Dons have an overtime win over Gonzaga this year, 81-77, and lost to them in the WCC Tourney, 67-71.
Ralph, that is a great softball tourney!! Almost everyone is ranked in there.
Esme! Told yah huh!
Now I’m wondering why D’Antoni hasn’t hired Steve Nash to join the Knicks. Is it because Nash is too old?
On this day (March 17) in the first year (2007) of The Warrior Beat blog … a drop to 163 comments on yet another “no schedule/Fire HF” day and no night shift. gigi-hawaii hides her neutrality in the HF issues, resulting in 40 comments and at least 3 letters to the newspapers.
👿 … and to top off the day…
Comment from: al [Visitor]
arrgghhh.
i was going to watch the replay later on. stop. stop. stop.

Some things don’t change. 😆
The Usual Suspects
“After that my guess is that you will never hear from him again. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that… he is gone. “
SteveM,
geez. That’s sure embarrassing!
Gigi, Steve Nash is on the injured reserve list for the Phoenix Suns. The only way D’Antoni can get Nash is through a trade.
I didn’t know he’s still injured. That sucks.
Is Miah really defending the 6’4′ Green? Why wouldn’t Wiseman? He is 6’7″ and usually defends the opponents better guard. Also, maybe Miah’s quickness will frustrate Green, but I’m sure other teams tried to figure a way to stop him with bigger people too and didn’t do so well.
Miah is listed at 5’9, but more like 5’7, with a very long wing span, and extremely large hands. If he does not make the NFL, he will definite have a future in the CFL. But who is to say he could not make the NBA, there have been smaller guards that have played in the NBA, within the last 20 years or so.
gigi — sure is embarrassing– you swore you don’t do 20 posts a day. As for the other issue, you did OK. Actually, pretty good. 🙂
my younger daughter is 5’7. that’s not very tall…
SteveM,
yes, there are times when gigi tends to be verbose… lol
#193, with the majority of the team returning, there should be no conflict when Miah return in late December. Like you, I see nothing but great things for MBB. Would not be surprise to see them in the Sweet 16 some time soon.
You are talking about a player that is 5’7, but with an enormous heart.
busy schedule in the quarry tomorrow:
Sunset track meet at 2 p.m.
Softball tournament starts at 3 p.m.
Water polo at 6 p.m. Na Wahine vs USC
Baseball at 6:35 pm
basketball at 7 p.m.
parking at a premium.
Speaking of the football schedule, where’s the d$$m WAC schedule? Niece is getting married on Oct 1. Hopefully not a home game…
Is USC #1 in water polo, or am I mistaken?
Ralph – basketball is Saturday, not tomorrow
JM,
I know what you mean about the schedule. I always worry that the opera will coincide with the Super Bowl. Naturally, when that happens, we skip the opera and watch the SB.
Waste money.
Just read in Brian McInnis’s blog that Men’s Basketball cannot host a 3rd round game, if it beats USF, cause of a Robotics convention being held at SSC. Why not move the Robotics convention to the NBC Arena. Thought SSC was built for UH Sports Events. Hey, UHAD, this is the post season, not a regular season game.
okay no basketball on friday. But on Saturday the action continues.
softball at noon, last game to begin at 4 or later.
track at 2
baseball at 635
basketball at 7
jm, I hear ya. Hoping and praying for a bye on October 1. Big shishi shindig going down in Waikiki that night, and I probably have to go. Doesn’t it usually come out in April or am I thinking the NFL schedule…and who knows about that schedule too?!
GO HOYAS!!
GO UH!!!
(softball, baseball, volleyball, swimming)
At least Homecoming won’t be on 10/1. I was only told the date and location of the wedding, not the time. Mebbe it’ll be early and I can still make it to the game. Yeah, right. Not in my family.
nytal!!
What a bunch of great basketball games today. got home from work but didn’t miss much with the app march madness on demand. (ball) Pick ur game and bingo watching the action. Small but better than nothing plus god sound.
Way to go DPK. Aloha …. Pc
Anybody watch TV sports on the news tonight?
I saw a pretty cool story on Rainbow baseball player Kolten Wong (2nd baseman).
Seemingly very pleasant young man.
I like!
And as a sidebar, the blog host has been most gracious to blog(monitor) with the common folk the past few days. Its nice when he’s around but then the host goes to work then some goodies start to boil…
I don’t know where’s big Hilo fan 2?
For those of you that endured my overly enthusiastic cheering tonite, I apologize…NOT!
OK…a minor setback. Back at it tomorrow.
Let’s Go Ladies! Time to get busy! You can do it.
YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED IN THESE TRYING FINANCIAL TIMES!!
On Monday, March 21, at 1:30 pm, the State Senate Education Committee chaired by Senator Jill Tokuda will be hearing HB 1322 HD2 – RELATING TO CERTAIN FUNDS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.
The meeting notice provides information as to how to submit testimony. A number of funds were eliminated and others like this one were updated. The original statute for this fund can be seen by clicking on the bill number itself.
Although I plan to submit written testimony, I will not be able to attend the hearing as I am scheduled for outpatient surgery Monday morning to correct a significant hearing loss in my left ear. The surgeon is brought in to Kaiser’s Hawai`i Region twice a year from SoCal so I had to take what was offered in terms of the appointment.
If you can show up in person and express your support, your actions would be greatly appreciated. The hearing should last no longer than an hour.
Click this link for detailed information including the Status Report.

Kekoa,
You were on a roll tonight.
I have to apologize though. My finger pointing to the homeplate ump was misunderstood.
I was only telling him he’s #1 in my book.
great pitching tonight by both teams, our Na Wahine loss both games but surrendered only one earned run in 15 innings. That’s how the game goes sometimes, but they will rebound from their disappointment.
Na Wahine vs Cal at 5 p.m. come on out and give the girls your support.
Why not delete Ralph comment #240 cause that is truly an untruth if you saw one. Iona pitcher was not great, the Wahine bats, or lack thereof, made her look great.
Aloha Stevie! How u been? I miss u!!
u like me ‘lomi-lomi’ u?
no worries…i get two large ‘manly’ hands.
after pau, we can go play tennis. i heard u one pretty good playa?
sweet dreams…..

Happy Aloha Friday!
Is anyone still a bit green as a result of yesterday’s celebrations.

“. . . shishi shindig . . .”?!?!
A Depends convention you have to attend?
Perhaps TMI.
Go SoftBows!
Become the Titas!!!
Nice post. I study something more challenging on totally different blogs everyday. It should all the time be stimulating to read content from other writers and apply just a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my weblog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a hyperlink in your internet blog. Thanks for sharing.
Someone asked if truTV was available as a TV channel anywhere. Court TV started in 1991, was bought by Time Warner (the owners of Oceanic) in 2006, and was renamed by Time Warner truTV in 2008.
It has been available in HD by Dish for a couple of years now I believe. AT&T U-verse, Comcast, Time Warner, Cox Cable, Cablevision and Verizon FiOS also offer it. DirecTV has a part-time HD channel for it to show the NCAA tournament. I don’t know if Time Warner Oceanic offers the channel in Hawaii, but it is available from Time Warner on the mainland.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Have a great day!
Excellent Post. I really like it .Thanks
Found your blog in the Yahoo wholesale bulk t-shirts directory, very nice job, thanks.
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
Pretty impressive post. I just came across your site and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed reading your blog posts. Any way I’ll be coming back and I hope you post again soon.
The moment I saw your blog was like wow. Thanks for putting your effort in writing this blog.
Please keep the info flowing about this!
I am usually looking for this place. The article a whole lot sense to me. check on
I do agree with all the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are really convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very short for newbies. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
certainly like your web-site but you have to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very troublesome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll definitely come back again.
I am definately gonna subscribe, this is soo interesting, love your thoughts.
There is noticeably a bundle to know about this. I assume you made certain nice points in features also.
Nice Article Man, Thx!
Social media is a great way to generate traffic. You seem to have a decent amount of traffic already. Have you tried any social media sites?
If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

Remarkable post as usual.
I must say that is a really nice article, I already knew all this, but never thought about writing about it hehe
awesome site
i don’t think it work
Gday: Great discovering your site. It seems as if I will be coming back soon.
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The good thing about these running a blog engines and CMS systems is the deficiency of limitations along with ease of manipulation that allows developers to put into action rich articles and ‘skin’ the website in such a way by purchasing very small work one would never ever notice what it’s making your website tick most without constraining content along with effectiveness.
