UH poised for share of WAC title
EL PASO — In the aftermath of Nevada’s upset of Boise State, the Warriors can clinch a share of the WAC’s regular-season title with a victory over New Mexico State tomorrow in Aggie Memorial Stadium.
The WAC awards a trophy to each co-champion, regardless of head-to-head results. UH, Boise State and Nevada each have one WAC loss this season.
While UH supporters cheered Nevada’s victory in the El Paso bar of the hotel where the Warriors are staying, the team was sequestered in position meetings. (OK, maybe not. Maybe there might have some loud yelling on the second floor.)

It was crazy this morning.
And, now, I do regret not taking Spanish in high school. French is of no use in El Paso.
A 45 minute drive with a few dairies on the side of the interstate. Keep those windows rolled up.
Having seen NMS play at home several times this year on ESPN 3 their field looks to be in terrible shape. In places the turf looks like cement.
Boise State is not going to lose to anyone this year.
We beat Nevada who still.. STILL has a suspect secondary. Even though they have an improved pass rush with that kid Moch, Nevada will be eaten up.
If people thought 49-7 on us and 51-0 on FSU was amazing, just wait.. Nevada is still SOMEHOW ranked in the Top 20 and BSU is a team that when a task lies ahead of them, they are out to not only conquer, but destroy.
Smashing Nevada is the ONLY thing BSU can do to help themselves going forward and they will make a statement tonight.
2nd place in the WAC is awesome considering the preseason expectations from voters and coaches.
Besides Nevada doesn’t have the character to beat a team like BSU. Look at the whining and complaining they did against us when they lost to a better team.
Look at Ault and Kaepernick jaw at each other on the sideline after every 3-out.
The writing on the wall, Nevada was exposed against us and they will be stripped again of any Top 20 ranked aura.
ST, when you walk into a store or restaurant do they speak Spanish to you? That’s what happens to us there.

I was there for two weeks in November of ’84 … then again in December for a couple of days … worst winter they had had in a decade. Decided to to South to Granada Spain where things were cheaper. I had my money and camera gear stolen on a train between France and Germany in early December. I was living off of a credit card I had on me and needed to find work ASAP.
I met my wife years later though in 98, online.. she was working for an ISP that handled Compuserve in France .. and I was a moderator/sysop on several tech and chat forums in Compuserve.

Not quite a disaster, though, cause the dark meat was juicy and tender.

Read it from back to front as I always used to in about 40 minutes including national news, the editoral section and features – even scanned through all the ads. Went over to the computer to read the blogs and the updates only to discover that the modem was missing. DrDoc had gone over to Oceanic/TW in the Windward City Shopping Center to replace it which is why he bought the RP.
On-line editions take about two hours to read and the flashing ads are pain in the buttinsky.
so we’re definitely going to go back to reading RPs.
Watching the AvA game – how can one state with such limited educational and economic achievements have such strong athletic programs. Guess the nationa;championship will be OvA after all.

What a finish. I called that upset back before we beat Reno. Kap has always played Boise State tight and it has been so long since Boise has been threatened that late that if a team could keep it tight late in the game there might be a chance. Note that I was wrong in thinking that Fresno would handle Nevada in Fresno — although they squeaked through by only a point.
The amazing thing is that Nevada tried so hard to choke in the end and Boise just wouldn’t let them — very un-Boise-like. Who would have thunk that Brotzman, a thorn in everyone’s side for the last four years, would miss two short field goals in the end to seal their fate? Poor guy has been injured but if he was not physically up to it than it was a coaching error. Boise to the Humanitarian bowl, eh? Sucks to be them.
Time to Warrior up and keep composed against NMSU & get that trophy.

Oops! #257, I wrote too soon. All three teams: NV, UH, and Boise have one WAC game left. Nevada’s on the road to La Tech in what could be a classic let down game after such an emotional win, and Boise hosts Utah State. If Hawaii wins tomorrow, that would guarantee at least a share of the WAC title. If both NV and Boise lose next week, however unlikely, Hawaii would then be outright WAC champions.
Take care of biz tomorrow and the Warriors have a chance for the title outright. Next week Boise facing Utah St and Nevada @ LaTech!

They’re not going to have two WAC teams play each other in the bowl game. C-USA is the designated opponent in Hawaii Bowl. JJ’s SMU team is bowl eligible, but they are either going to the Liberty Bowl (if they win the C-USA championship) or the Armed Forces Bowl (being played in their home stadium this year). Either Boise or Nevada will probably end up in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco. WAC has a tie-in with them this year.

What an incredible outcome tonight. After years of watching Boise play near perfect football, and make amazing comeback runs, it felt weird to see them fall apart on a simple field goal play.
I think this is a good illustration why moving to the MWC for football and to the Big West for all other sports will be a good move for our teams. Playing against better teams throughout the schedule prepares you to handle the tough games when it comes time to play for championships. I think Pride was right about how Boise was not in game condition by the time the fourth quarter arrived.
And definitely mixed emotions. I really could not bring myself to root for Nevada, even when I knew it meant we could end as WAC co-champions.
Amazing season for Hawaii!! Still in shock at this turn-of-events, but very proud of our Warriors for all they have accomplished this year.

Hey umm.. Kraft Bowl gets the first place WAC (unless they are in a big bowl of course).. So Kraft gets to pick between Nevada or Boise…
They will play against the #6 Pac-10 if enough make a bowl (which they wont)
or #9 ACC…which is clemson, boston college, georgia tech, maryland or north carolina at this moment..
First I have to say that Reno did not win this game, BSu lost it. The team that played in the first half was not the same team that played in the second. If that first half team had showed up for the second it would have been a very different outcome, just look at the stats by half.
I don’t like BSu but I can’t stand Skinnylegs and Shorty even more, they are not that good but they are luckey I’ll have to admit. But I will give credit to that kid Tua he was hurt for almost the whole game but kept hitting the holes for good yardage.
I will be rooting for LaTech next week, I so want to see someone lay the lumber on Skinny.
