Hawaii softball: Junior Brittnee Rossi sad for team, especially seniors
Hawaii junior Brittnee Rossi is the starting center fielder and leadoff batter on the softball team.
With the news of indefinite suspension of the season because of the corona virus, she is disappointed for the entire team, but especially the seniors.
“I was really looking forward to playing my junior year and really going off this season not only individually, but as a team,”said Rossi, who is batting .253 with a .344 on-base percentage, but expects more from herself. “I have been struggling a bit in preseason and I wanted to get my performance together and live up to my role on the team.”
Aloha! There are no words to explain the heartache for these athletes that have worked so hard, especially the Seniors. One of the hardest team meetings I’ve ever had. Thank you to our fans for your support! We’ll be back!! Stay safe. GO BOWS!!🌈🥎

The Rainbow Wahine are rebuilding with a 9-15 record.
“Because 50% of our team are rookies we all wanted to prove ourselves and come together and go far this season,” Rossi said. “But more importantly I’m really upset for our two seniors. Their last games may have been (Wednesday), and they could be done (with their college careers).”
UH lost 5-0 to Texas Tech and 3-2 to Minnesota in the first day of the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic — which could be the last day of the season, and the last day of the careers of catcher Callee Heen and utility player Cheeks Ramos. Heen is one of the top sluggers in program history and already had seven homers to go with a .358 batting average, both team highs. Ramos was batting .301.
“So I can’t imagine how they feel and not even having a senior night,” Rossi said. We all are hoping that we can resume and the seniors can have their final season.”
That is tooooo sad! I really wanted to see the Wahine this season; so many potential newcomers and great returning players! I will be missing seeing Callee Heen hit another homer! Good luck Wahine!
Waiting for next season. Who knows, maybe Callee might return,
