Still early but Wahine not as good as projected by some ?
1. Why would you even ask that?
They are ranked No. 5, played No. 1 tough, split against No. 3 and swept No. 19. Looks like their ranking is on point this early in the season. I would assume being No. 5 isn’t too shabby at all.
2. They want to challenge for the top spot not just a 5th place ranking, maybe they will. They lost 1-4 in the Semis to LSU. LSU won the tournament though.
1. agree with 2. Why would you ask that?
it’s the first weekend of the season.
True they lost to LSU in the semis but they also beat LSU on Saturday. And LSU beat UCLA sooooooooo
They will challenge for the top spot. besides it’s just a poll.
As the UCLA coach commented, the Wahine will be the one to watch because they have the most growth potential from now till the nationals. The Wahine are having to redefine their team, having lost four “starters” from last year’s team. Jeff Hall is doing wonders in working in indoor players Brooke van Sickle and Hanna Hellvig. In fact, Hanna and her partner, Ilihia Huddleston went undefeated for the tournament. This is just unbelievable. Both are freshmen and Hanna is from indoor. Right now, I would say the Wahine are overachieving.
5. Hellvig and Huddleston lost to LSU 2-0 in the 1st LSU match on Saturday.
Congrats to Hannemann, for the best defender award
