Congrats to Hawaii freshman middle Guilherme Voss, national freshman of week from OffTheBlock as well as another Big West FOW honor.
The Big West honor is the Brazilian national’s second straight, third of his career.
Player of the Week went to UC San Diego junior hitter Kyle McCauley (Rado Parapunov was nominated).
Defensive POW to UCSD senior setter Connor Walbrecht (Voss nominated).
Voss finished with a combined nine blocks in a two-match road series sweep against No. 11 Stanford, including having a match-high five blocks in the series finale on Saturday. He also had a combined 10 kills on a .471 attack percentage as No. 1 Hawaii (14-0) swept both matches and extended its winning streak to 14 matches.
Other winners are here.

Apologies. been trying to get the link.
Best video from the road: Viking Chant makes it inside Burnham for aloha ball Saturday.
Wow…how deflating that is for Stanford to have a ton of Hawaii fans doing the Viking chant at match point! If I was in the Stan and more than half of the crowd started doing the chant of their team at match point it would be totally demoralizing! Way to go Warriors and fans!
1. mentioned last week that Friday and Saturday largest attendance of the year for the Cardinal. Hawaii has always traveled well, both the Warriors and especially the Wahine, and with Gasman and Worsley from the area, plus their Pacific Rim Academy club teams showing up in force, it was a very pro-Hawaii crowd.
Amazing that Saturday’s attendance at the smaller venue was almost 500 more than the night before at Maples. Seems everywhere Hawai&ʻi has traveled to this season, they’ve attracted a huge following. Mahalo to all the UH fans living on the mainland.
What is the origin of LBSU MVB bench’s rowing during serves? It strikes me as 5-0, and thus, more appropriate for UH.
4. I believe they do it only for Ethan Siegfried who is from Honolulu, hence the H-50 reference.
I was at the Stanford game on Saturday. Throughout the game, the ushers were scanning the bleachers looking for spaces to give to attendees in the gym. According to the people in front of me, there was still a line from the gym to the parking lot and this was during the third set.
Oh, how shame…thank you, UHVoice97!
When I re-watch the 2018 and 2019 UH-LBSU matches, I am struck that such a high level of competition came with high camaraderie. That is something that I have never witnessed. Kudos to LBSU’s players and coaching staff.
4. It’s not rowing. It’s paddling. Hawaii connection.
6. if you read our story in Sunday’s paper, it was reported that there were about 100 people in line to get in.
