Hawaii men’s volleyball: 3 Rainbow Warriors up for Off The Block awards
Rado Parapunov (opposite), Gage Worsley (libero) and Patrick Gasman (middle) are on the ballots for Off the Block national players of the month.
It’s a two-round tournament with the winners decided through online voting on the OTB website.
Finalists in the first round are placed into one of five ballots based on their position. The five winners on the position ballots will advance to the championship round, along with the runner-up who received the most votes.
The online poll for the first round is now open and closes at 10 p.m. CST (6 p.m. HST) Thursday. The championship round will be a two-day voting event with the polls closing at 10 p.m. CST (6 p.m. HST) Saturday.
After you vote, you can see how many votes each player has received.
OTB also has listed the NCAA stat leaders in a convenient way (instead of searching on NCAA.com).

Quite the proliferation of awards. I guess you have to build readership and interest somehow. But basically a popularity contest. Still don’t get the national non-white player of the year award or the best non-American player of the year award. Misguided and unnecessary.
Confused. Thought Robyn preferred indoor players not play sand. I think sand really sharpens the indoor game, tho.
I guess Robyn have came to the realization that if she wants to sign top level players and those players also play beach, she have to be flexible and allow for that. Otherwise , she will be limiting herself to certain type of players.
She probably would not have landed Hellvig or even Brooke Van Sickle if she didn’t allow for crossovers. Once she allowed for crossovers, she kind of have to let whomever wants to play beach. She cannot let some and prohibit the others.
Robyn could suggest to Jeff Hall to limit his roster so those who have no chance to play won’t waste their time pursuing beach.
Those who crossover will have to realize that when indoor season comes around and the competition for playing time are tight, the ones who commit 100% to indoor might have a leg up. That is the chance the crossovers need to consider.

UH @ 23 and Boise at 21 ( just scored a TD and ready to kick off — Boise has no time out and 1 minute 13 seconds in the 4th quarter –obvious : on-side ” kick
as Boise ST kicker begins he run to the ball — one or more UH players charge ahead crossing their LOS — official throws his flag or blows his whistle — 5 yard off-side penalty against UH
UH then repeats the above and another 5 yard penalty now ball on Boise T 45 yard line
UH repeats the above and another off-side penalty — now ball at mid-field and UH 1st line players are at their own 40 yard line — now time to sit back with 8 – 9 players within their own 30-40 yard line
thus, a strategy to ” shrink ” the playing field and increasing their chances of securing the ball on the ‘ off-side ‘ kick and preserving victory!!!!!

2. don’t be confused. Ah Mow is adapting. Originally said no to players doing both. But also sees the value in improved skill sets and more touches on the ball.
3. don’t know about that regarding Hellvig. Ah Mow didn’t land Van Sickle. BVS originally was a beach commit. Hall and Ah Mow have had plenty of discussions regarding who was coming over this spring, and it was with Ah Mow’s blessing. Not like Hall was poaching nor is he under any obligation to limit his roster.
That being said, Hall is going to play those that will help HIS team. I don’t see it as a waste of anyone’s time.
Pretty sure the players understand the commitment to play both and will learn pretty quickly when they start official indoor practice. Some may decide it’s too much when adding in school work.
As for those who have a leg up … only indoor players currently in optional workouts are Hanawahine, Igiede, Williams, Westerberg, Akana and transfer setter Byrd.
