UH junior hitter Jolie Rasmussen previously listed as doubtful.
I would say that she’s definitely out, not participating in warmups.
She is on crutches but at the end of the bench folding sweats for equipment manager Jimbo Buccella

Too bad…USC held on 15-11 in the fifth…

  2. Lloyd September 13, 2019 7:32 pm

Coach Robyn put in TIffany in outside L or either right side .

  3. Cindy Luis September 13, 2019 7:58 pm

    2. we’ll see what happens.

  4. H-Man September 13, 2019 8:24 pm

let’s see if Robyn makes a change on the right side. Would like to see Sibley given a shot.

  5. HawaiiMongoose September 13, 2019 8:27 pm

Whew, the Wahine are tough to watch tonight. They look great, then terrible, then great, then terrible. Can’t complain about a 2-0 set lead but it’s not pretty.

  6. afan September 13, 2019 9:18 pm

Not sure what the floor ref is seeing during the video reviews! He’s terrible! Even the commentators couldn’t believe the calls he made! Last night was bad too!

  7. Manoafan September 13, 2019 9:26 pm

The bottom ref is ridiculous. I am sure most of the TV audience dislikes him except maybe for his family, who are probably embarrassed for him.

  8. blunite September 13, 2019 9:39 pm

The future has to be now. More fire power and better passing is needed. I would give the other freshmen an opportunity to play and to grow the program.

Playing the seniors is a kind but fruitless gesture.

  9. Willie September 13, 2019 9:47 pm

With the Bruins size & strength it will be interesting to see if Coach Robyn selects a different player for the left side. Starter tonight couldn’t get the job done and hasn’t improved much from last season. Those Freshman looking more and more like seasoned veterans with each match. Very talented and fearless.

  10. Cindy Luis September 13, 2019 10:16 pm

unfortunately they don’t show the replays during the challenges but i’ve heard the decisions have been horrible.
    8. i don’t think the seniors are being played out of kindness. Sibley has size and Ross does contribute.
my feeling is there are lineups that Hawaii will use Saturday that they didn’t want to give away tonight. I could see Westerberg moving to oppo for example.
The Bruins are tall but they’re still trying to find a lineup. Going with a modified 6-2 out of necessity after setter Cali Thompson went down three plays into the season against Baylor.

  11. darkfire35 September 13, 2019 10:29 pm

I’m sure not being able to play is killing Jo. You can see it in her face how helpless she feels not being able to contribute for the team. But still encouraging for her to high five her team mates and yell from the sidelines! Heal good first Jo! Don’t need you out again so soon!
Cindy…interesting comment about trying to hide the lineups from UCLA. She really held to her guns and tried to make what they have now work to the point that they sacrificed the 3rd set to do it…maybe not intentionally.
    GO BOWS!

  12. blunite September 13, 2019 10:50 pm

Whatever lineup RAMS goes with cannot exceed the number of substitutions allowed. If she keeps the 6-2 and Rika & Kyra subbing in, she may not have enough to sub-out Westerberg (or Akana) every rotation. (She may have to scrap the 6-2 to incorporate more firepower.)

  13. Kauaiboy September 13, 2019 11:09 pm

#9 for Utah Valley was a baller, she played lights out and Hawaii couldn’t stop her all night long. It was nice to see Hellvig step it up, she is quickly becoming my favorite! Ross, Wagoner and Van Sickle had way to many hitting errors. Is it just me or does Riley hit a heavier ball from the back row ?!?! Iosia had a nice match especially from the service line. I’m hoping the happy go lucky wahine team shows up tomorrow night.. With Jolie likely not available we will need everyone to step it up a notch to be competitive with UCLA!

BVS’s facial expressions after her one-handed dig kill had me rolling

  15. menehune September 14, 2019 2:56 am

The Kardiac Kids….glad I took my heart meds before watching the game.

  16. tongo September 14, 2019 5:59 am

Agree with Kauaiboy. Hanna stepped up big time. Her line shot is emerging very nicely and her serve seems to be undergoing change also. And yeah, Riley seems to unleash from the backrow but hits cautiously in frontrow – overthinking maybe? Both Hanna and Riley are fun to watch.

  17. tongo September 14, 2019 6:26 am

Does Amber not have the quickest reflexes ever for a big middle hitter? Am just amazed how quick she gets up to block, turns to get a hand on tips, or dives to get drop blocked balls. She is awesome to watch with steadily improving footwork and body mechanics, as well as timing. Go Amber!

  18. Sheila September 14, 2019 6:36 am

UCLA two losses only by two top teams and wahine had to put their best available team with consistent stats to bring A-game today. Wish 90-95% of sets distributed to the best % hitters of squad (Hana 0.261, Brooke 0.259, Amber 0.368, Skyler 0.378, Tiffany 0.441) by all setters. Wahine needs to do better job in receiving against their ace-leaders. Riley needs to aim line-shot with safer margin of error. Hope wahine stick with remaining best (Bailey, Norene, Riley, Rika & Kyra) for entire match with A+ game today.

Does anyone know how to watch live online the gold medal U18 Championship going on right now in Egypt? Would love to watch Elena Oglivie play there. Just now USA won the first set, but Italy showed twice it’s capable of coming back after two sets down. Never take them for granted. I wish I could view the rest of the match. Come on, anybody knows?

  20. islandman September 14, 2019 7:40 am

How do we watch Hawaii vs Baylor, ESPN+ ?
Looks like we can’t watch Hawaii vs Missouri.

  21. islandman September 14, 2019 7:47 am

    9. That starter bailed out Wahine team several times during her career.
12.. It’s RAM, not RAMS now.

  22. jmy September 14, 2019 8:14 am

    What’s going on with Illinois?

  23. Big Island Volleyball Fan September 14, 2019 9:35 am

Hurrah! USA team with Elena Oglivie won its first ever U18 World Cup gold medal in five sets! Elena scored only five points probably because she’s the shortest hitter in the team. Great win to be proud of, USA made history!

  24. menehune September 14, 2019 10:36 am

20 islandman. You must subscribe to that channel @$4.99 per mo.

  25. darkfire35 September 14, 2019 11:02 am

    14. Yeah BVS’ facial expressions remind me of Mags. It gets me rolling all the time.
    24. What channel is that? ESPN+?

  26. islandman September 14, 2019 11:38 am

    25. ESPN+ is a streaming service, and is not on your TV, i think.

  27. Beauston September 14, 2019 1:26 pm

LBSU took #11 Florida to 5 and now leading by 3 on the 5th.

  28. Beauston September 14, 2019 1:40 pm

19-17 in favor of Florida Gators. Wow, if LBSU ply the way they played the Gators just now, even with their 1 woman show in Williams, they will definitely contend for the Big West Title.

  29. jmy September 14, 2019 1:44 pm

Florida held on to win, 19-17 in the fifth…

    UCF beat Illinois 3-1…

  31. jmy September 14, 2019 1:51 pm

Looking like Minnesota-Stanford is going five…

  32. Hot September 14, 2019 2:03 pm

I’m not understanding why with the injury to Rasmussen and the continuous struggles with passing, Ah Mow still isn’t using a Libero full-time.

  33. jmy September 14, 2019 2:09 pm

Sorry, misread the stats…Minnesota beat Stanford 3-1…
