Hawaii athletics: Compliance officer Richard Greene heading to Auburn
Sometimes, it seems Richard Greene is everywhere.
He’s at UH football practices at 7 in the morning and basketball practices at 3. He’s at the Nagatani Center all day. At Les Murakami Stadium, that scoreboard often is being run by … well, Rich.
And then when it’s 9:50 on a Thursday morning, and there’s Rich at Ala Moana Center’s Satellite City Hall, you realize, he is everywhere. Especially since an hour-long coffee hour in his honor started at 9 a.m.
Through this week, he was the athletic department’s director of compliance — a thankless job that has the same qualities as an IRS agent, RA and police officer. But he displayed the best of those skills. He provided advice instead of audits, told people to “keep the noise down” instead of writing up tsk-tsk reports, and was definitely the “good cop.” UH officials rest peacefully at night because people like Rich were always on the job.
He is leaving UH, and heading to Auburn as a assistant athletic director. He will be missed.

BYU freshman linebacker Hirkley Latu has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
The former Kahuku standout announced on social media this morning that he is leaving BYU.
Noticed in the football insert this morning that Eletise was listed. Is this a mistake or has his appeal been granted?
Hey Richard! God’s speed on your new post. Mahalo for your efforts on behalf of all the sports and the university!
Maybe a future Hawaii AD in the making.
Thanks also to ST, Brian, and others who put together that blockbuster of a football insert in this morning’s paper. Creativity and in-depth reporting for the hungry fans was on full display. After going through it, I am officially in full lift-off mode for the game tomorrow! PUMPED. Understandably, no one in the football writers’ universe (except for our very own), is willing to predict a Hawaii win. So be it, all the better for the shock value the headlines will have on Sunday.
Vegas appears to be favoring a wild shootout. Don’t think I buy all of that. Both teams have bettered their D from last year. Tate may be healthy and ready for a Heisman year. However, their receivers are untested. So, do you think Arizona will push their ground game like Hawaii opponents did last year? If they do and are somewhat successful, that eats up the clock. On the other hand, if Hawaii jumps out to a quick lead and has the offense rolling, AZ will have to throw more.
What I’ll be looking for is this: Arizona knows that Hawaii knows the AZ wr’s are inexperienced AND that AZ’s strength is running the ball. So, will they try to cross HI up by passing in the first couple of series? And what about Hawaii? AZ knows HI wants to pass and will probably setup to counter that. But, no one knows what Coach Rolo will do. Shovel pass on first down? Can’t wait for the game to start!!!
Didn’t know it was Kaimana’s senior season, that came by quick!
Like I said, I’m confident Eletise will be cleared for the Oregon State game.
In fairness, that’s fair.
Arizona will run wide left, and wide right, with their beefy linemen knocking down our thinner
defensive line like Wisconsin.
Then again, maybe Rich Greene can live up to the hype and get him cleared by kickoff.
Ipu Man
I was binge watching their games. They’ll try to run up the guy a lot, too.
My pull-it-outta-the-okole prediction is Taylor will have a subpar game. The real threat, I think, is the big No. 2 back.
Yahoo Sports writers are predicting a high-scoring close game both ways.
“Predictions
Bromberg: Arizona 41, Hawaii 33
Cooper: Arizona 44, Hawaii 38
Forde: Arizona 51, Hawaii 44
Thamel: Hawaii 48, Arizona 46”
I choose Thamel’s reality.
I’ve learned things never go as planned. We’ll probably be looking at each other at halftime wondering: this is all the points?
Mahalo, aloha and a hui hou, Mr. Greene. Best to you in the future.
Alls I gots to say is that I see the Warriors in a win!
The old rust bucket’s gonna be rocking!
GO WARRIOR!!!
Finally time. Let’s go! See you guys at the game.
GAME
DAY
Looks like it will be a hot and humid day for the away team. Hawaii 24 – Arizona 23
yesterday’s morning ‘pull out’
Arase Mose’s name was missing from the OL — is he red shirting or production error???
his Dad and Tuilete’s dad were teammates on McKinley’s 1998 team with MasaBoy — they tied Kahuku for the White division championship — McKinley’s winning PAT was disqualified because an interior lineman extended his arms along the LOS
it will be a tough one today — unfortunately, Tuscon is hotter than Hawaii — hope coaches chose to practice indoors all fall practice — but Hawaii’s “humidity” will be the killer!!!!!!!!
Mr. A-House, he’s there, #70. No give us heart attack next time!
Good luck to Richard Greene. Compliance in the SEC sounds like a daunting task haha.
IT’S GAME DAY!!!!!

Game day, baby!

OK, feeling a little deflated by Maui’s loss at the LL World Series. Hopefully, a UH football win can salvage the day!
We’ll see if last years bowl game performance will carry over to this year. If it does, AUWE!!
Game day is finally here. Go Warriors!!!
