Warrior Beat: Hawaii football ends training camp
The Warriors ended training camp with today’s 90-minute practice on the grass field.
The wind-down came in stages: last week’s final full-contact scrimmage, the creation of scout teams and depth charts, and the newcomers moving out of camp-assigned dorm rooms. The regular student body moves into the dorms this week.
With the fall semester starting on Monday, Aug. 26 — two days after the season-opening game — the traditional camp schedule appears to be out of order. School usually opens before the first game.
“We haven’t started school so there’s still a little bit of single-minded thought process,” head coach Nick Rolovich said. “We don’t have to balance school yet.”
The Warriors spent most of the defensive sessions focused on Arizona’s uptempo offense. The scouts alternated two offensive huddles.
“Tempo is complicated,” Rolovich said. “That’s their thing. We have to be ready for it. It’s part of a lot of people’s offenses. We have to be ready for it in today’s football.”
Rolovich said the 20 practices of training camp went smoothly. “It was fairly injury free,” Rolovich said.
The only ailment of significance was receiver Kumoku Noa‘s “tweak” that will keep him out for several games. Noa was backing Jared Smart at left wideout, and Jason-Matthew Sharsh and Melquise Stovall at left slotback.
So Kohl should be ready to go! That’s great news. We’ll need everyone to shutdown the cats meow. Can’t wait! Rams n Cowboys….meh..
Go Warriors!!!

Arizona runs one of the quickest offenses in college football, per today’s article. No time to sub in for the UH defense ?
Tate will get his yards, so Key will be in limiting JJ Taylor to under 100 yards.
