Warrior Beat: Uahinui earns Hawaii football scholarship
It has been quite a week for quarterback Justin Uahinui — and it’s only been two days.
On Monday, Uahinui, a third-year sophomore from Farrington High, was assigned to the primary group of quarterbacks behind Cole McDonald and Chevan Cordeiro. Uahinui had practiced mostly as a scout quarterback the previous two seasons.
This afternoon, Uahinui was awarded a football scholarship.
Head coach Nick Rolovich said Uahinui was deserving because of his development as a player, his camaraderie with teammates, and his humble work ethic.

Cha-Ching for Justin! Congrats.
Congratulations Justin!
Excellent! Congrats to Justin, his proud dad Nui, and all of his ohana! Good call coach!
Congrats Justin. When given the chance to prove yourself you didn’t waste the opportunity. Keep grinding young man. You are a great example to others who belive they can play at this level and I’m sure you have many more goals to achieve.
Ivin Jasper, Shawn Withy-Allen, Inoke Funaki, and Shane Austin all had memorable contributions/moments as 3rd QB’s. Even Moussa’s appearance was much anticipated in “mop-up”. Get ready to be impressed when his chance comes. Congratulations Justin.
Congrats to Justin! Looking forward to being in Honolulu, next week. Can’t wait to see some friends and of course the opener!
well earned scholarships by Padello and Justin — great examples of hard work on and off the field!
Good Things Happen To Good People.
Way to go, Justin!

Re: Hekili Keliiliki. Just read this on the Hawaii Athletics’ (UH) site – “Keliiliki, who is a Hawaiian descent, went to high school in Arkansas and is fluent in Mandarin after serving a two-year mission in Brisbane, Australia.” Interesting to find out how, by going to Brisbane, Australia, Hekili became fluent in Mandarin.
Too bad ST is not related to Joseph Tsai.
