College World Series champ Vanderbilt set to host Hawaii baseball in 2020
The 2019 College World Series finalists — champion Vanderbilt and runner-up Michigan — will be heading to a UH baseball calendar.
The Rainbow Warriors will play Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., in March in the first year of a home-and-home series. Mike Trapasso said the Commodores initiated the contact. Thirteen Commodores recently were selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
In 2021, Michigan is set to visit the ‘Bows for a series at Les Murakami Stadium.
The ‘Bows had hoped to finalize the 2020 schedule this week. But a recent withdrawal will delay the release for a little bit.
The ‘Bows’ 2020 roster will include their top three starting pitchers (Cade Smith, Aaron Davenport, Logan Pouelsen) from a year ago, as well as the return of center fielder Adam Fogel and second baseman Dustin Demeter. A shoulder injury shortened Fogel’s 2019 season to 11 games. Demeter missed the entire season after undergoing surgery to both hips.

This baseball schedule needs to come out a bit sooner to hopefully help with recruiting. But then maybe being in the Big West already helps in this regard.
They finished most of the 2020 recruiting class in November. They’re going to add a few players to cover the loss of Dakota Engleman-Donovan and some other early departures.
The focus will soon shift to the 2021 class.
Bows will get to play against future #1 pick Kumar Rocker.
And let’s not forget the Commodore football team comes to Aloha Stadium in 2022.
I have a feeling this years team will be as good as the 2006 team.
In football I mean.

Maybe Trap can get a speedy leadoff guy (like Ventimila) to steal some bases to manufacture some runs. And get some legit power (like Kevin McDonald) to pair with Baeza and Fogel. Just hoping for something good for the Baseball team in any form. Nice to dream big.
UH Baseball hasn’t been good since the Keiki Korps in 1980.
