______
The AVCA announced its Beach Volleyball All-America teams today with SandBows Emily Maglio and Amy Ozee earning honorable mention.
It’s the first honor for Ozee while Maglio earned All-America mention for the third time. Maglio was named a first-team All-American her freshman (2016) and junior (2018) seasons.
Maglio-Ozee each finished 25-11 overall on the season. They played in 28 of 38 matches together and were paired together for the first time 10 games into the season, finishing with a 21-7 mark. The duo played all but one of its matches at the No. 1 flight.
This is the second honor this week for Maglio and Ozee, who were also named to the All-Big West first team on Monday. Maglio leaves second all-time at UH in overall wins (112) and is one of just five players in program history to crack century-win mark. Ozee, who will return next year as a senior, ranks 10th all-time at UH with 72 wins.
A total of eight pairs across the country were named to the AVCA All-America Team. Maglio and Ozee were a part of six other individual players who earned honorable mention.
Congratulations to @calpolybeach Crissy Jones & Tia Miric and @UHBeachVolley Emily Maglio & Amy Ozee on their All-American distinctions!

Check out Stijn’s Instagram post as he leaves Hawaii…extremely heartfelt and deep. He will be missed. @stijnvantilburg

Elena Oglivie officially commits to Stanford. Congratulations Elena! How exciting for a local girl.
4. TY Hadn’t see it. Technically not official until she signs NLI in fall.
Men’s VB. A very special team indeed.
For those who don’t do Instagram, this is SVT’s parting message:
When i came to Hawai’i somebody told me the word aloha not only means love and compassion but also hello and goodbye. I never really understood why it meant goodbye until today. Today the time has come to say goodbye to this beautiful island and the wonderful people on it.
Mahalo nui loa for the best 4 years of my life. and the most special last season. The beauty of sports in Hawai’i, win or lose, is to bring people together. I am so thankful for all the people that were brought into my life and were part of this journey. I will forever cherish the memories made and the lessons learned. I will always represent and live my life as a Hawaiian Rainbow Warrior. Playing for Hawaii has been the biggest honor.
All good things will come to an end as the next chapter of my life will start. As a last message I would like to remind people to malama da aina so that the future generations can enjoy the Hawaiian beaches and mountains just as much as I did
A Hui Hou.
So well deserved honor at the Governor’s office yesterday. This team was VERY special, both on and off the court! These young men exemplified the true aloha spirit and brought the entire state together as we watched their quest for a national title. Yes everyone is disappointed with the outcome but the returnees have already vowed to be back there next year! Stijn’s message says it all of how they embrace Hawaii and how we welcome them with open arms. As Cindy said – going to miss this group – their unity and love for each other is unmatched. Thanks for a wonderful season!
Mahalo nui loa Cindy for the posting of SVT’s post, it was very much appreciated. His message to all of Hawaii truly should send out the message that yes, we have aloha and ohana. But we must also share that sentiment when they’re not doing as well as we’d like them to. That is when our support is really needed; not just when they’re winning every set. Mahalo nui loa to our seniors and good luck to our 2019-2020 team! GO BOWS!
His message to malama the aina is very heartfelt as he was an avid hiker here and on the Neighbor Islands and was truly one that appreciated the beauty of the Islands.
