What is Safesport and how do they have the authority to investigate anyone.. Why weren’t charges pressed 30 years ago? UH should have told them to beat it Sounds like someone doesn’t want UH to win the Championship.
FYI……while the story was initially published in the The Orange County Register, the story is also getting a wide circulation throughout Southern California though affiliated SoCal news publications (Long Beach Press-Telegram; Daily Breeze – which covers the South Bay) Los Angeles Daily News; Riverside Press-Enterprise; San Gabriel Valley Tribune; Inland Valley Daily-Bulletin).
The timing (the week of the NCAA MVB Championship being held at the Pyramid) for release of this story was obviously planned to maximize its sensationalism.
Tabloids. Nothing BUT.
2. I couldn’t agree more.
Found this link on another blog:
https://www.avca.org/Blog/Article/198/Announcement-Regarding-the-Status-of-the-AVCA-Division-I-II-Men-s-Coaching-Awards
Some say it is to protect the integrity of the process; others that Wade was probably voted the winner and this is to prevent having to rescind the award; the wording suggests the NCOY has not yet been selected…anyway, this is going to be the new normal in the wake of recent misconduct scandals
4. Does that mean the investigation will be wrapping up soon ?
5. Not necessarily…AVCA is just being cautious IMO
1. they have the authority. you can read about them if you got to USOC.org
charges weren’t pressed 30 years ago because they weren’t Allegation surfaced last year.
3. Those are not tabloids. Those are long-established newspapers that use the same news servces.
I saw it firsr in the OC Register Wednesday then Thursday it was picked up by tne San Jose paper since Wade was affiliated with UOP.
4. thought I had posted that link. Story in tomorrow’s paper discusses it. Seems to infer that Wade is COY.
Agree timing very suspect. IMHO OC Register story was about Touzinsky and when going through the list Wade’s name alphabetically not far down.
i was bothered by the way the OCR story was written, saying that despite being undef investigation Wade was going to be coaching next week. There is no reason why he wouldn’t be allowed to. SafeSport has no authority over the NCAA.
According to Wade he has yet to be interviewed by SafeSport so don’t think it’s any where close to being wrapped up. Unless they have decided they don’t need to interview him and they have decided the allegations are baseless.
