It’s the first day of UH’s spring semester, which means … several Warrior football coaches are attending the American Football Coaches Association’s convention in San Antonio.
The event is an opportunity for coaches to attend clinics, learn new techniques and strategies, and network.
Thursday is the last day of the recruiting dead period. Beginning Friday, teams are permitted to host on-campus recruiting visits through the last Sunday in January.

UH baseball is moving into its new locker room today. UH basketball and the students got a renovated Gym II and will be getting the same for Gym I. The Track is going to be replaced and there were / are some other projects you might know of.
This takes away from the myth that the legislature, governor and upper campus do not care about UH athletics.
When is the next signing date/deadline and what is HIGH on our want list?? We got any good DL prospects? Are we still in the running for the QB from Utah? Are there any BIG quick WRs or RBs out there?
Can they expand Ching Field/stadium to fit 30,000? If so, how much will it cost?

cannot go “mauka” because of the road and existing parking structure plus Murakami Stadium sits on the Koko Head side and current athletic department complex on the Ewa end.

I think the Utah QB, Boone, would be a good get – one redshirt Jr, one redsirt frosh, and 2 or 3 incoming frosh [ Cali – Texas – Utah ]
UH could use 2 or 3 more “big” bodies on the DL — like 6′ 4″ at 315 #s. – strong as an ox, quick as a snake, sturdy as an elephant and rhino, and slippery as an eel.
maybe the 6′ 10″ Aussie poly guy wants more warm/sunshine weather than Minnesota’s cold, snow, and ice!

If possible, Tua should actually declare his eligibilty for the draft. Can’t see how he’ll improve in college after this season.

Year bad. Fireworks went off. 2019 was good game for Clemson. More funny.
Not a bad idea for UH to acquire the land adjacent to the lower campus where all the apartments sit between UH and the freeway. Could allow for future expansion for sports facilities and much needed parking for students. That’s assuming that the state comes up with the money.
Alabama borrowed some plays for UH, it seems. The shovel pass which didn’t work. Clemson’s did work though.
Also running 3 straight times starting at the 1 yd line but not scoring.
Going to get a little critical here. just my opinion. Not meant to disparage but hoping that the Coaching Staff can pick up on some different and maybe new ways to approach game planning schemes while they are at this convention.
It seemed during the season that there was (my observation) a little more specific game planning by UH’s opponents to slow the offense than there was by the Warrior staff to have prepared counter measures or even specific plays/packages to attack a weak point of the opponents defense. Rice (then others) used press coverage to take away Ward. BYU used a very tall “spy”. Louisiana Tech used blitz packages paired with their outside pass rush to disrupt timing. After Navy most defenses adjusted to the RnS by dropping 7 or 8 in coverage. It seemed that UH’s thought process as far as strategy was to just run the offense “as is”, because there “should” be someone open when read at pre-snap. I think they can figure out this process better in year two.
Coach Jones had specific stuff installed (for Komine, Welch, Mauia etc.). Even Rolovich designed specific plays for Ewaliko and McDonald 2017. Once there are these kinds of packages and “plan B” counters installed next season could be incredible. Got so many playmakers and varied, contrasting personnel that UH can do so much more than just the “as is” pre-snap plays. I hope the Convention gives them some inspiration.

After the game interview with Clemson head coach and players is an inspiration and should be seen many times by the warriors till they know it by heart. Any team can be in the national championship, but you have to believe and come together as a team. Coaches must be teach players constantly*and be true to their word about playing time. Don’t worry about red shirting a freshman cause if he can play give him a chance and believe in him. Trust and believe.
You need the talent- 4 or 5 star type. Trevor Lawrence, Justyn Ross, Mullen, Terrell, Wilkins, etc.

#41 Suckabooya, in other words, poor “O” strategies. You are right, they better improve next year ! In retrospect, we could have hired JJ. Hope this UH regime doesn’t take another year to figure it out !! Attendance will drop into the teens again if they don’t.
41. Even Alabama with all its high paid coaching staff ,analysts and 4 or 5 star talent could not deal with Clemson’s wrinkles on defense which disrupted their timing.
Most people wanted the Run N Shoot offense, but that is not enough. So Nick uses the RPO etc., which he will add to, i assume.
He had some packages in 2016 and 2017 i think, but people wanted more.
46. I don’t think Rolovich wants to hire JJ, he wants to do it his own way, which i think is good.
They are already doing an environmental study for a new stadium at the current site with the possibility of breaking ground in a couple of years. It took close to ten years to get this far. You guys want to throw another wrench into the works and start all over? Auwe.

Rolovich’s contract was set to expire after the 2020 season, but has been extended through 2022. If the Rainbow Warriors qualify for a bowl in 2019 or 2020, another year will be added on, taking the deal through 2023.
No salary info was announced by Matlin.

Just some facts. There will always be people to throw a stop wrench into anything they want stop. Plus it will jack up the price of the project in delays. H3, Rail, school repairs work and so on. Anything that has a State or city contract out for bid. Can be in for delays even big private projects to. People will always find something to stop it. Even the bidders and contractors, will bid low. But will find ways to rise the price up. Some of it in delays and other mean to get the price up. And get more money back. Living all my life here, I seen it happen so many of time over the sixties up to now. So with delays stoppage will always cause the price to go up. Plus we don’t have factories to produce steel and other things to build a stadium. So we have to ship things in. Shipping rates increase price will go up. So don’t believe if they say $100,000,000 to build. The price will always go up. There be a new stadium someday. But many of us old timers, might not be around to enjoy it. That is just some facts of living here.
