Wahine rebound at CSUN
It looked like the worst kind of deja vu for the Hawaii soccer team.
With two seconds left on the regulation clock Sunday, UH gave up a goal to Cal State Northridge’s Lindsay Kutscher, sending the Big West Conference game into overtime at a goal apiece.
UH, you might recall, gave up a goal with one second left in double overtime to lose 1-0 at UC Irvine on Friday.
It’s rare to see one of those buzzer-beater type of goals in a season, let alone two.

But the Rainbow Wahine had time to regroup after Sunday’s allowance. Late in the 10-minute first overtime period, the Wahine crossed the ball in front of the CSUN goal. The Matadors’ goalkeeper saved a shot but couldn’t field the ball cleanly, and Sarah Lau was there, streaking in and tapping it in along the goal line for the instant winner and a 2-1 outcome.

It was the first goal of the season for Lau. Her fellow senior Raisa Strom-Okimoto had the first for UH in the fourth minute, off of a corner kick set piece played short and a pass from Kiri Dale.
It was just the third road win in seven Big West seasons for UH (6-4-1), which evened its conference record at 1-1.
