Mata posted shutouts on consecutive days in her team’s 2-0 and 4-0 wins over North Dakota State and Grand Canyon to win the Rainbow Wahine Shootout over the weekend, totaling 10 saves. She was coming off a career-high 12 stops in a 2-0 loss at San Francisco the previous weekend.

It was her fourth career weekly award; she had two last year. She has four shutouts this season for 5-3-1 UH, nearly half the team’s games.
Forward Lei Medeiros was nominated for Big West offensive player of the week after collecting two goals and two assists in the wins, but that honor went to Claire Grouwinkel, who had four goals in a pair of Anteater wins.
UH heads out on the road this week for its first two Big West games, at Irvine on Friday and Cal State Northridge on Sunday.
