Warrior Beat: Q visits the ‘Bows
Quincy Smith, a key member of the UH basketball team that advanced to the round of 32 in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, visited with the Rainbow Warriors today.
Smith said he will be playing in Lithuania this coming season. It is the same league where LaMelo Ball and LiAngelo Ball played this past year.
Smith started all 34 UH games in 2015-2016. He scored a career-high 19 points in the opening-round upset of California.

The Warriors went through a 90-minute walk-through session today in advance of Saturday’s home opener against Navy.
It was a no-padded workout in which the Warriors worked on defending Navy’s triple-option schemes and attacking the Midshipmen’s scrappy defense.

Welcome back Q! That 2016 bball team was sure fun to watch.
Rule #1: Keep the ball AWAY from Navy’s offense.
Rule #2: Keep the ball AWAY from Navy’s offense.
Rule #3…. etc.
Ball control is going to be the linchpin to this win. Let’s go Bow’s!
Of course Navy will run their option, but it will be interesting to see if they pass more than expected because of their tall wide receivers. Hawaii’s corners seem to have difficulty defending height. Navy’s O-line is not small as Bobby Curran suggested this morning. They’re as big as Hawaii. Their defense is slightly bigger than Hawaii’s D. #28 Keoni-Kordell Makekau (Iolani/Ewa Beach) is one of the starting slots. #91 Alema Kapoi (Kamehameha/Kapolei) is a back-up DT.
Rule #1 – Score everytime you get the ball.

Welcome back, Q! A true grind and hustle player.
Game notes are available on UH website. Ht/Wt etc. See for yourself size comparisons if it matters/GiEarriors
GoWarriors!!
Nakoa Mike – they should retire the number 07 (not 7, so it’s just a symbolic gesture)
off-topic …
The Hawaii Tourism Authority has given the green light to a pre-season game featuring the Los Angeles Rams to be played at Aloha Stadium in 2019. The deal has been in the works for the past year.
According to the HTA, the *** owner *** of the Rams loves Hawaii and was the one who proposed playing a game here after seeing the Los Angeles Clippers play an exhibition game in Hawaii. The team polled its fans and about 50,000 of them said they would love to come to Hawaii to watch a game.
The HTA says the numbers still need to be worked out for a contract, and it hasn’t been determined which other team would take part. But, there would be community events surrounding the game.
About 10,000 fans are expected to fly to Hawaii to watch the game.
Stay with KHON2 and KHON2.com for more details on this developing story.
Aloha Tsaikos,
Hey ST, is there any word on the ticket sales for the first home game?
Also I hope coach Batoon has a great game plan for our defense. If I’m not mistaken he has coached again Georgia Techs offense. Navy doesn’t pass anywhere near GT so I hope he has our guys ready.
Go Warriors!!!
Q didn’t have much of an outside shot, but man, was he lightning quick driving to the basket.
i enjoyed watching quincy’s basketball career at hawaii.mahalo q.
#13 ~ Would be cool if Marcus and the Titans was the other team to play the Rams
There is another team that plays 6-7 times a year in Aloha Stadium, yet I don’t hear much if anything about HTA helping out this team. Kinda clueless if you ask me.
Burro: Amen to that. I mean, who wants to see the Rams?👎LOL.

Does Booby Curran ever know what he’s talking about?
Quincy had major hops & burst to bucket …he would be a great db if went that way! Speed & quickness he was blessed with most definitely!
If Navy runs they’ll win. A bigger defense means pass rush and McDonald scrambling around a lot. Is Ursua really in good health or faster? They look evenly sized. Hawai’i’s defense gave up 34 points. Which means Navy’s offense must get worse for Hawai’i to win by at most +14. But I think they have it at +13 1/2. Defense of Hawai’i is worse than Navy.
Rams is coming. Maybe. But does Hawai’i Tourism Authority really want to spend the extra revenue on one game? Only for the win sports buying ticket club fan. What about the other non-paying lose club? 50,000 fans. Any kind.

Does Ricky Logo and Cory Batoon have a good read on the offense of Navy?

Who’s in the box office above? South end zone? Scout?
Thanks to Benjy Taylor, Q found his game.
Gib Arnold would too often bench players as soon as they made a mistake.
Quincy reminded me a little of Phil Handy.
Do we really need the HTA approval to have this game played at Aloha?
Isn’t navy ranked in top 25?
Just hope we’re competitive!!
Defense!!! Defense!!!
Slow me to extend a Farewell and god speed to an outstanding Naval officer and great
Veteran Mr John McCain!!!
