Here come the Warriors
If your Oahu high school has a football team and a head coach who works at that school, there will be a UH assistant coach on that campus today.
The open period for NCAA recruiting has started, and beginning today, coaches are permitted to have on-campus visits at high schools. UH has scheduled visits to every school that fields a varsity football team and whose head coach is an employee.
The plan calls for UH coaches to visit every football-playing high school in the state over the next couple weeks.

There were 39 high school juniors who attended the Warriors’ Junior Day on Saturday.
The players and their parents toured the campus, met with academic advisers, heard testimonies from strength/conditioning coordinator Tommy Heffernan and former head coach Bob Wagner, and met with UH position coaches.
“I thought Junior Day was excellent,” Nick Rolovich said.

“I thought practice was less than excellent,” Rolovich said of Saturday’s practice, the ninth of spring training.
Adverse weather might have been a factor.
“I don’t care about the weather,” Rolovich said. “We can’t shut the door at Aloha Stadium. You’ve gotta play.”

Still the 1 …
Foist?
That is great, visit every school and find those hidden gems or at least keep the lines of communication open.
3rd ?
but UH 1st place
It should be an interesting road trip for the baseball ‘Bows.
The important games are this weekend against Fullerton. But what do they do in the non-conference game Wednesday against Bakersfield? It’s important not to burn out pitchers, but you gotta throw somebody on Wednesday. Cade Smith? Then he’s not available for relief on Friday or Saturday. Yelland? Not sure. Maybe Uskali, and then have him come back on Sunday? It should be interesting.
ST:
are there any Hawaii high school varsity football programs where the HC is NOT an employee?
if yes, then UH coaches will not visit them today? maybe, later?
ST:
perhaps they will find a “gem” in a non-football program such as wrestling or track or basketball or volleyball
NFL teams have drafted basketball players for WR position
ST:
great full that we live higher in the clouds to avoid flood waters
concrete culvert must have been an awesome sight!!!
me too chicken to venture outside with all the lightening
#4: Stephen: Trap told Curran he was going to “staff” the game on Wednesday so as not to tax any one guy, then also replace the starters midway through the game to give reserves a chance in the field and at the plate.
…inside the top10
Bows doing well. Wanna be champs, gotta beat everybodee….
My nephew plays for Castle, Raiden Wong, Coaches go see his size….
Off topic, but — having endured the “100-year” rain on Dec. 31, 1987 — my heart goes out to those impacted by the weekend storm, particularly those along Kalanianaole Hwy but more so the people of Kaua‘i. Mayor Carvalho calling it the “worst” impact by a storm in his 57 years. Sending healing thoughts …
So the Sat practice was “lackluster”. Coach Batoon said recently “it doesn’t take talent” to play with energy. I realize this spring roster is light but if you are on the roster you need to prove you belong-adsolutely no excuse for poor practices given the state of the team. Leaders need to voice their displeasure and strongly suggest those that are always tweeting about “what their gonna do”. Turn it up or stop the empty promise tweets-GoWarriors!!!!
clyde #10:
remember where you were and what you did on 12/31/1987?
went home early to wash our cars — started washing about 2 pm and the rain was a steady drizzle which became stronger/harder as the minutes went by
our neighbor was holding our annual new eve’s party in their garage and we stood as the rain became torrential – soon we heard our neighbor could not pass the bridge because water was pouring over it — then, someone came running up the hill to tell us that our main road into the valley had water at least 2′ deep and running like rapids — no one ventured out to see
no fire works that night
A-House. Don’t want to hijack Stephen’s blog, but since you asked …
We lived in Hahaione Valley at the time and, like many others, our party got washed out, along with a newly landscaped yard and a mailbox that ended up at the bottom of the street. Still, very lucky compared to folks the next street over. Kahena was the street that was devastated by night-long rushing waters, with asphalt and cars winding up down the street. Water, mud and debris poured through houses, and people could not drive for several days — their cars stuck in garages because there was no street! Never saw anything before or since. Eventually, everyone recovered but we’ll never forget.
We return to regular programming ….
Not much coverage in the newspaper about the Aina Haina or Waimanalo massive flood damage. Had to read about it and watch videos on KHON or Hawaii News Now websites
Aina Haina library had to close, etc.
Great Afternoon All!
As usual, I don’t remember much about that NY Eve…
🙄
Unlike a HC, I choose not to remember much about “lackluster” events…
You start Brody Hagel-Pitt and hope he can give Coach Trapasso five decent innings.
Then you staff the rest of the game.
Jeremy Yelland is better than his 7.02 ERA so I don’t think you start him.
Maybe Matt Richardson is the guy.
CSF could have helped the conference RPI by winning their series at San Diego State.
What they have in common with Hawaii is that they peeled away one game against a high-quality opponent.
The Bows have LSU.
The Titans have the Beavers.
C’mon, Coach Trapasso, this is the year.
Trust your gut.
Starting DeMiero was inspired.
During the 1987 flood, I went to visit a friend in the high rise condos in Hahaione Valley from mine that was right next door. When I tried to go home, the water in the street was about 5 feet deep, up to my neck and I had to grasp the bush and tree branches to get home without being swept away. Then a guy and gal in a car come down our condo driveway and he can see the other cars in the street are submerged to the roof and yet he keeps going like the Three Stooges (yelling for him to stop) and his lights go out, the car sinks, they have to wait for the pressure to equalize before the doors open and they got out, but the guy trashed their car for no reason except a get home obsession, unreal.
This was the first practice held in the late afternoon and the players were sluggish. Maybe practices should be moved to late afternoon to get closer to matching game time at Aloha Stadium. Lot more spring in the legs at 6 in the morning when the air is fresh and cool and the mind is fully alert.
Yeah we live on Hahaione St. in the condos. Coming home Friday night water was at least a foot deep on Kalanianiole. Twenty minutes later they stopped traffic on that road – it can’t rain any harder then it did. On Hahaione, storm drains were pouring water into the street was more than a foot high. We just made it in.
Regarding UH baseball, my sister lives in Bakersfield. Why anyone would voluntarily go to Bakersfield is beyond me. Scenery is tumbleweeds and a dry river bed. Yuck.
Aloha, Mrs. Bush.
