Billy Ray Stutzmann joins staff … UH-BYU tonight
It’s finally official: Billy Ray Stutzmann has been hired as a football intern for the Warriors’ offense.
He is reunited with his brother, Craig Stutzmann, the Warriors’ quarterbacks coach and pass-game coordinator.
Billy Ray Stutzmann, a former UH and Saint Louis School wideout, coached at Henry & Emory the past three years. Craig Stuzmann and Timmy Chang are former Warriors who also coached at Henry & Emory.

The Warriors are in the final stages of hiring an intern for defense.
Like any other UH hiring/vetting process, the final stage can be quite lengthy.

As of yesterday morning, UH received about 60 applications for the coaching position vacated by Mayur Chaudhari’s departure.
For all the doom-and-gloomers, there never will be a shortage of people who want to coach in Hawaii or receive a Division I scholarship.

Tonight’s UH-BYU baseball game will not be televised. None of the games this series will be televised.
But it’s BYU-UH, so there are a few ways to do this: 1) Come on down to Les Murakami Stadium (upper-level tickets are $5 max, and cheaper if you’re an old fart) or 2) read your favorite newspaper — Staradvertiser.com
First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
GO WARRIORS !!!
I just roll my eyes at these guys who talk about how no one wants to coach here or how Rolo is gonna leave for a little more money… no one comes to work here for the money. the right people stay, at least for a bit. Rolo isn’t here for the money, and neither is Ganot. when JJ was here, it wasn’t for the money until it was for the money, and by then he just needed a new challenge. and then he tried to come back after chow and would have made less money than his first stint here. when it comes to Hawaii, you either get it or you don’t.
Big sports weekend for Hawaii, basketball, volleyball and baseball. Kinda bummed I won’t be able to watch baseball on television, it should be a good series.
It is a busy time. Basketball games tonight and Senior night on Saturday.
Volleyball opening Big West Friday
It’s too bad. BYU-Hawaii in anything is always fun.
They pulled BRS’ profile from the Emory & Henry coaching staff page so I have the answer to my question.
Burro Sabio:
Billy Ray is a good guy.
Best part is we might see Bill Stutzmann show up at practices.
Welcome home, Warrior!
HEARD RUMOR THAT JJ OFFERED TO COACH FOR FREE; ALSO LATER, SAW ON TV THAT HE SAID THE SAME THING. GUESS IT WUZENT ENUF.
OKAY, SO HERE’S MY RUMOR: HE ALSO SHOODA OFFERED TO BUY THEM LUNCH. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAR!!
HAR.
Since they moved the CSU game to August and created an open date during the season, do they have a possible opponent for the date?
Andrew:
No. They’ve already filled the maximum 13 regular-season games.
The move allows for a bye.
Good to see another Stutzmann with the Warriors!
aaron – #2 – Ya nailed it!
No room for doom or gloom!
GO WARRIORS!!!
Speaking of coaching
Northern Arizona (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop a number of moves have been made on the staff. Safeties coach Cody VonAppen has been promoted to secondary coach.
Wonder if this guy applied.
One of the best ST players to play for the home team.

ST I had wondered if this was a short-term internship but now I figure BRS is moving home for now. It’s always great to talk with BRS Sr.
No TV and no streaming of the baseball games. In 2018 lol. And you guys wonder why UH is so behind in being an upper-tier program. You build trust, and you build desire. But nope, UH puts money first, trying to squeeze fans to come to the stadium and pay for parking and overpriced concessions. Well I should say, potential fans. Take a look around the faces in the stadium tonight, and imagine where they will be in 5-10 years.
Great Afternoon All!
WTG Billy Ray!
While it’ll be nice to see Bill around the grass field might be tough not seeing Ray…
🙁
No BaseBows on TV?
Takes yer pick?
Get BasketBows!
I went to opening night … Upper deck tickets $10, I think I got gypped!!
Are tickets 5 bucks?!?
UH’s baseball stadium concessions are probably the best in terms of value of all the available food concessions at UH sports. calling them overpriced feels a little uninformed to me. Plus, concession food is expensive at every venue so is concession food “overpriced” or just “priced”? Parking is only $6 too…
Baseball Bows usually on TV so I think it gotta be a BYU agreement. Anyways going to the game is always a good deal even with the parking fee. And bring the kids, the concession is cheaper than the movies.
321…There are more important sporting events happening on campus than the BYU game. I don’t think its an agreement with BYU. UH basketball is playing 2 conference games on Thursday and Saturday while the men’s volleyball team is playing #5 UC Irvine. There sports take priority because its meaningful conference games.
I meant to respond to #21 not 321. hehehe
#16 I heard it was Spectrum’s decision to reduce the number of UH baseball games broadcasted this season. It sounds similar to the other issues with blocking streaming and not allowing Hawaiian Telcom to broadcast the Wahine volleyball games where Spectrum is exercising its contractual rights to the detriment of UH and it’s fans.
Ahhhhh….. Promotional pricing on etickets
Throwback Thursday…. I’m on my way!!! Just hope the weather cooperates tonight
I’m not a senior citizen but does anybody remember Larry Jones?
He went for 19 points against Gonzaga.
That’s who Zigmars Raimo reminds me of.
Jones had this bizarre free throw style.
He dribbled the ball with stiff arms like a robot and flicked the ball up with his thumb.
I suspect Raimo will never have another game like this again.
Prove me wrong, Zigmars!
I think week zero conference games is a no brainer. If Matlin & staff can’t be proactive and schedule future non conference games on week zero, I’m sure our conference foes would love to start fall practice one week earlier.
Mean pipeline from Henry & Emory. Would like to see more experienced coaches added to their staff though. D1 level is a castle different level of competition. Best of luck to Billy and great for their parents that both of their boys are home and on staff.
Oops, auto spell kicked in. “D1 level is a vastly different level of competition”. Coach Rolo, wishing you the best of luck in coming season! All the whiners, complainers who many are probably gamblers, shouldn’t bet $! That’s their fault! Looking forward to bringing back the spread passing game.
Welcome, Billy Ray!
