Parting and parties
This morning, the UH athletic department had a farewell party for track and field coach Carmyn James and administrative 
assistant Kalei Miyahana. Tomorrow, there will be an appreciation party for Marilyn Moniz-Kaho‘ohanohano, who retired last month.
And next week UH will say goodbye to Bobbie Omoto, who is retiring after 36 years in the state system, including 26 in the athletic department.
Bobbie was more than just the basketball secretary. Bobbie folded — and waved — towels at basketball games, was part of the game-day crew for football games, and also was involved with softball. Those orange balloons they used to have at basketball games? She used to distribute them. If you needed an ear — whether you were a player, coach, staff worker or even reporter — Bobbie was there to listen. And if your blood sugar was low, she also provided snacks. She’s a good person in a world that needs good people.
Unfortunately, she’s taking her husband, Ralph, with her into retirement. Ralph? Yes, he’s the guy with a face of steel and heart of gold who took all those wonderful pictures at UH sporting events.
We’ll miss Bobbie and Ralph … and the snacks.

So many changes in the athletic department. Good luck and fair sailing to all that are retiring or leaving for greener pastures. Much aloha and thanks for your dedication and hard work for UH Athletics. Go Wahine and Warriors! Cannot forget the Rainbow. Go Bows!
Bobbie also brought refreshments for years to the NCAA Summer League games for the UH players and others she came to know. I will miss her as a source of knowledge and as someone who was so easy to talk to and always had a smile to share. Congratulations on your retirement Bobbie and thanks for being such a loyal friend and fan to UH athletics.

In my annual email test, I just sent 3 batches of emails to Tsai-kos who have shared their addys over the years. I also inquired about Road game attendance plans this year.

I’m guessing that some visiting coach complained about the noise it creates.
I felt like the figure in the Edward Munch painting when Carl English went undrafted.
I had a hunch that Anthony Carter’s and Predrag Savovic’s names would not be called from the podium, but I was absolutely sure about English.

I wish the Lakers would take a chance on Zach Collins.
I hope Noah Allen gets a Summer League invite.
