Warriors, Under Armour continue partnership
Athletic director David Matlin said the football Warriors and Under Armour will “continue” their apparel and footwear partnership.
The Warriors and Under Armour initially agreed to an eight-year deal in February 2008. The deal was extended a year last year. It now is set for at least a 10th season.

A decision has not been finalized but Isaac Liva said he “leaning toward” playing both football and volleyball this coming academic year.
He redshirted as a freshman in both sports last year.
Liva, who is 6 feet 5 and 230 pounds, was a defensive end in football and outside hitter/opposite attacker in volleyball. He was not listed on UH’s spring football roster while he was a member of the volleyball Warriors.

Number 1?
Does this mean that all the other UH Sports will be also converting to Under Armour?
Now that is a cool shirt on Issac. Someone should have printed a bunch and sold it at the Arena. I certainly would have got one. Course it just wouldn’t look as good on me as these guys. Look forward to seeing Isaac play either sport. Watched him in high school and he’s an exceptional athlete. At 260 he would be dangerous at DE. Chasing QB’s or even protecting them as a TE/OL could also be his calling. But he can pound the ball too so good luck to Isaac in whatever he chooses to do.
I’m surprised and somewhat disappointed that Matlin was not able to negotiate a long-term deal with Under Armor…It’s all about “branding”, so UH needs a company that is willing to promote.
Howzit Tsaikos!
Go Isaac!! Wish him well in both sports.
(Will he get a scholarship for FB?)
Kapahulu – I hope not. Apparently UA doesn’t make a lot of stuff for some of UH’s other sports, like volleyball. Just remember, those awesome MVB jerseys were a collaboration between Asics and the coaching staff. Some of UA’s designs (not UH’s, thankfully) are U-G-L-Y. Ever seen Maryland’s uniforms, especially the helmets? (Yes, I know it’s the state flag, but still…)
I believe UA has been struggling in the marketplace as of late. Glad they are still onboard with UH, though. Gotta build our programs up to attract Nike back to the auction table.
I also like the idea of a short extension while UH Football rebuilds. Better to sign a long term contract when the program is clearly strong and popular.
Cole Mcdonald looks like a beast. Much bigger then the other 2 Qbs
Isaac means joy, he certainly looks it. 🙂
Really hoping for a Nike deal next time around. The stuff Under Armour puts out is garbage.
The picture of Quarterback Cole McDonald
looks like he is ready for a Volleyball serve.
Disappointed in UA. Their uniforms are crappy and not very much variations.
UA might not be acceptable, but I think in 2018 you won’t see any Nike uniform for Major League Baseball. I think UA will outfit all teams UA is an excellent fit for UH.
How about some new gear, the football uniforms look dated. Top recruits want the new swag. C’mon coach where’s the chrome helmets, if we gotta have UA which is weak make them develop some great looking gear for the men to get excited about!!!
Well, I guess this means that the Warriors won’t be wearing Big Ballers this year.
UA has a deal with Fanatics and MLB starting next year-they are not even in Europe yet-I gues ND Cal UCLA Utah Auburn Wisconsin et al are chumps. I buy only UA products-shirts Polos etc. all are like new after years of wear! My opinion you get what u pay for
Great Afternoon All!
Congrats Sooners.
81 days. Das 50 in Blog Host speak.
Das it
… 😳
“60”
The word has been out in suggesting that the new Warrior football jersey have the State of Hawaii flag across the front shirt – similiar to the Warrior basketball jersey.
So why is it difficult to have one for the Warrior football team?
I thought Coach Rolovich was going to be involved with the new Warrior football design??
why do we need to fundraise to get new helmets?what is under armour providing?
There is a reason why Stephen Curry doesn’t like Under Armour.
It is my reason, too.
I don’t mind crappy looking uniforms.
I don’t think UA make helmets. The helmet makers are usually Riddell or Schutt.
I got no problem with UA. They are quite expensive but the polo shirts feel very good. I got three of them and love them.
I’m glad UA decided to re- up with us. Otherwise we would force a company like CHAMPION to outfit us. Champion sell their stuff at Walmarts and Kmarts. Kind of hobo if you ask me.
Thank You Under Armour! I am one who glad you decided that our program is worthy of wearing your logo.
ST:
Thanks for getting that answered! Makes sense to have a stronger negotiating standpoint (winning) when UH signs a long term contact, whoever it is with. Can’t wait to see the new helmets!
#13 You are correct with MLB starting UA contract along with Fanatics. I believe all major sports change contracts (I think every 8 years or so). Next year the NBA will start deal with Nike. NFL has a deal with Nike until 2019
Any information on the particulars of the deal?
Chrome helmets sound mighty fine.
Midnight Green?
Silver?
Gold?
All I can say is that I don’t have any UA gear. Most of my polo shirts, t-shirts, footwwear, caps, etc. are Nike. My first Nike shoe was a waffle trainer which I used to run the 1978 Honolulu Marathon. The boom came when Michael Jordan signed with Nike and the rest is history. I’ve bought Nike stock since the early 80s and it’s been berry, berry good to me. I also like Converse who Nike bought a number of years ago. I’ve worn the Converse Chuck Taylor black low cut sneaker since I went to college in the mid 60s and I still have several other pairs in different colors. I also wear some Adidas (not much) and some Oakley (not much). Company wise, Under Armour is a loser. I bought some UA stock for my daughter. Loser. Luckily, the NBA is switching to Nike’s for the 2017-18 season and going forward. Too bad Steph Curry can’t get out of the UA contract (he’s locked in until 2024). But, there’s always a price to be had. So, UH, good luck, but I won’t be buying any UH gear until you change to Nikes.
Until UH continuously improves especially its football program to a consistent contender again, I don’t think Nike is an option. I agree with what others have said earlier that I think Matlin signed a short-term contract in hopes that the program continues to improve and once the contract is up, UH can get better offers.
Underarmour is okay but I would like to get an underarmour customized football jersey, the only people that were able to get some customized was the Tullis family.
