Spring practice No. 2
The Warriors still were without pads, but there still was contact, particularly in the trenches, for today’s second of 15 practices. Of note:
> Quarterbacks Dru Brown, Cole McDonald and Cole Brownholtz — in that order — each had two four-play series in modified scrimmage-like setting. Brown was 3-of-4, McDonald was 5-of-6, and Brownholtz was 2-of-2.
> Running backs Diocemy Saint Juste, Freddie Holly, Ryan Tuiasoa, Elijah Dale and Genta Ito all seemed fresh. Ito made a quick-cut move that even impressed some of the defensive players.
> Offensive line coach Chris Naeole is rotating the blockers. Matt Norman got a shot at right tackle, and Kingjames Taylor got to spell Dejon Allen at left tackle.
> Strong safety Daniel Lewis was able to play in some 11-on-11 sessions. He has recovered from a sports hernia. Safety Keala Santiago made a pick on an overthrown pass.
> Tight end Sione Kauhi made a couple nice catches. The Warriors have a nice rotation with Tui Unga and Dakota Torres.

Morning 808
Ekahi!?
ST: were you aware that I never received the Hawaii Bowl T-shirt(s) for winning one of the drawings back in December? Just asking…….
Sounds like a positive session this morning. Hope we have a great competition at all positions but particularly at QB. We need to push the boys to get improvement.
I probably missed the update on Davis’s injury. What happened to him?
Davis had a leg injury the first day of practice. Had to be carted off after a run during scrimmage.
What time is tomorrow’s practice session? Any news on the PK try-outs?
Hopefully we’re better today than we were vs MTSU in the Hawaii Bowl … it’s called improvement …

ST
How are the new faces in the secondary looking?
On ST’s thread yesterday; Saturday’s practice will begin at 10 a.m.
DB’s playing with a chip on there shoulders. Looks like wilson wants to prove something playing real physical with the receivers, looks much stronger too!
#2, once I won a mini helmet and I never got it from ST either. It is what it is. I didn’t pursue it because he’s supposed to contact me on how he’s going to get it to me. Not my problem. The way I look at it, I never had it so I’m not sweating it. But I do have a memory.
#9 thanks
You mean to say the contest giveaways aren’t legit? Fixed?
Great Afternoon All!
Maybe this entire blog is “fake”
Maybe UH Football is “fake”
Maybe UH is “fake”
Maybe…
…das it
Sorry to hear some of you haven’t received ST’s contest prizes. Like Derek, there are 2-3 I have not received (but am certain I could have gotten since I know where he lives). 🙄 Sometimes he just gets busy or life gets in the way. But I think I know the real reason for the non-delivery…
Ever see the back seat of ST’s car? Yes, I assume there is a seat under all that stuff. No doubt your prize was thrown back there for delivery or mailing… but…
One of these days he will get a new car and excavate into the old one. I can imagine the swag that would come out. One of these days we might have a physical location for the Tsai-ko Hall of Fame
http://stevem.altervista.org/hallofame.html and an entire section could be for swag.
Looking at the Hall of Fame section of the Tsai-kos who have passed on, I note “Long Time UH Fan” and “FloridaTed” at the top. FloridaTed won a Colt Brennan autographed football and ST mailed it to him in Clearwater, FL. Ted proudly blogged about it often.
Then one day the beloved “Long Time UH Fan” won a t-shirt or something and ST went to deliver it. ST said he spent 2 hours talking to him and Lorna and he was scolded by Wena when forced to bring home a lot more goodies than he brought. I spent many hours at Long Time’s home and know exactly what happened. 🙂
So, yes, ST does deliver but stuff happens. Contact him directly and remind him when and WHAT you won.
funny stuff!!! at least I don’t feel so bad now listening to some of the other stories.
But it was such a nice t-shirt. ST even contacted my wife (I don’t text) for our mailing address – we live off island – since she used her phone to text him. Anyway, no big deal…….. I mua Warriors!
Snowman, that shirt is invisible. You got it, but don’t know it.
It’s in your heart when you put it on…
So wear it with pride when you are on the beach.
But don’t forget your pants.
🙂
Ito gonna be Rolo’s stealth Warrior,
a quick cutting ninja…
Ipu Man, I like it. “The Ninja”. Let’s make sure he gets the right face mask.
norm chow had a no long hair policy.lol.that is almost stupid.
Yikes.
Text me addresses and I’ll send ’em out.
Sorry ’bout that.
#20 … “Ipu Man” … I sure hope you’re right … hope Genta gets some playing time this year … physically he kinda reminds me of Barry Sanders … would be great if he could be 1/4 of how Sanders played …

so happy t0 read that Tony Davis will be recognized tonight
he lived in our dorm and was our center — still remember that we beat Oregon St in old Klum gym when they came here ranked # 3 in the country
my favorite comment to Tony was, “Tony, how’s the air up there and his response war rarfified” — after all, he was 6’11” tall and always wore a “golf like cap”
very proud of Tony!!!

Bases loaded, one out in 9th inning, i think. Why not UH try a squeeze bunt ? or was USF playing close in some ?
I really like baseball, but I refuse to watch Trapasso’s teams, more to protest the one year extension he got, which I disagree with Matlin. Trapasso has had at least 16 years to show what he can do and what have we had. 2 regional appearances. How many conference championships? Now after 4 years in the Big West, how have the Bows have done? I’m just saying, his records speak for itself. I don’t even listen on the radio anymore either, and I have haven’t gone to see the game in person at all since 2015 and maybe that was only a couple of times at best. But, I do notice that the oldtimers that were faithful Les Murakami and Hawaii baseball fans are dwindling. Once upon a time, watch UH baseball was exciting. To me, sadly, it is not the case anymore. And I am not the least surprised that we lost the last 2 games in extra innings. Call it bad vibes, but you could feel it and I feel badly for the great starting pitching. They deserved better.
So, let’s talk about the positive shall we. I like what Rolo is doing, I like what Ganot and his staff have been doing under such tough circumstances, and the players. Don’t blame him for the problems of the APR. I like what Wade is doing with such a young and talented group. The only other sport that I’m sour on besides baseball is women’s soccer, but women’s soccer isn’t a moneymaker anyway so we have to take that with a grain of salt. Nontheless, you still want a consistent winner and Nagamine has not done that. JMO.
