Grand View finally started to gel. They benefited from having basically the same lineup each set both nights. After their second set clock cleaning, they came out wanting to make a statement, and they kept enough of their serves in to stop shooting themselves in the foot when they had some momentum.

Wade over the past two nights overplayed his hand a bit with all the substitutions, and it caught up to them about the time the Grand View unit started to click. The UH communication broke down, along with their serve receive and passing, the setting became predictable when they could actually run their offense, they didn’t get their middles going, their were a lot of trap sets, they didn’t always have their best lineup on the court, and whatever six they had on the court seemed to be fighting to get into the flow of the game as a unit.

since I wasn’t at the game, listened to parts, so can’t comment other than they wanted to play a lot of guys and did in non conference matches.
You aren’t going to see most of those combos against UCSB.
and give Grand View some credit. a little undersized but they are No. 1 in the NAIA.

As for the banquet. Thought Shoji looked good. He said he feels good. finished first round of radiation and will be starting the second early next month.
then they will re-evaluate and go from there. Nothing about coming back for 43rd season or retiring.
All the seniors gave touching and funny speeches, Ponce is at Disney World already for her internship. Guinasso read her comments, closing with, And as they say at Disney, have a magical night.
Ma’afala also not there. her grandmother passed this past week. That was one of the main reasons she came home after being at Southern Utah, her grandmother’s health.

I wasn’t at last nights game but did get a chance to go to Friday evenings game. I will say that I believe it’s #12 for Grand View has some major hops! (He’s the black guy) man can he fly, and also possibly #6, hits a really hard ball. I think he’s the international player? Played with such passion and celebrating like he scored a goal playing soccer, it was awesome! Anyway, hope UH can continue rolling and gel-ing as a team as we move forward in the season! Go Warriors!

Kevin Hambly from Illinois has been hired to take over the Stanford Vball program. An interesting pick to me after Illinois failed to make the NCAA tournament this past year. However he has great recruiting and made the finals in 2011

Hello everybody. The Warriors are still no. 5 today. Don’t forget to vote for Stein for player of the month on offtheblock.com … let’s show that we have the most supportive fans out there!
