to continue a couple of discussions from previouss thread.
On Granato vs. Sibley and going on stats. Granato has more swings for several reasons. She’s been the starting outside. Sibley was on the left and subbed out for Greeley. Sibley was ill then sprained her ankle so she missed a number of matches, including a road trip. Now Mitchem has moved into what had been Sibley’s position. Well, more L1 than L2.
    So can’t compare there stats.

On Burns being a surprise or not a surprise. She wasn’t that highly recruited, signed with West Virginia, left when coach left, asked for release before Sunahara was hired. Based on her preseason, where she sat out over a week of practice, she’s progressed well. Needs a lot of work on her footwork. Feel Castillo is better overall but she has said she isn’t able to do things that she knows she used to do because of her leg issue. It’s a cramp that runs up and down her leg.

woo hoo… looks like they are geling at the right time!

  8. warriorfan November 14, 2016 12:50 pm

Congrats wahine, especially Happy that Norene was finally recognized.

Seems like UCI and Beach are replaying the match at UCI tomorrow?? Should be interesting.

  9. Maverick November 14, 2016 12:59 pm

    3. UH continues to get more votes, though not enough to rise in the rankings. IMO, quality of competition is holding UH back, and maybe some skepticism given the early losses. More importantly, it would be great if UH got a favorable draw like last year, as I think this is a team that will surprise many in the tournament.

  10. livealoha November 14, 2016 1:19 pm

This is the best shot Hawaii will have to make the Final Four for awhile… at least with the make up of returning players and those coming in. At this point I could care less where Hawaii goes and who they play. No game is a guarantee and Hawaii will be the underdog seeding wise from possibly even a first-round match. Just win!

  11. hollycow November 14, 2016 2:35 pm

On Taylor, BW says this is her second time, I thought she won it twice earlier in the season. I also thought Iosia won the Freshman once, there was no mention on the number of times for her on the BW write up. Senior moment on me?

Really like Casey. But Burns height is hard to ignore. I know she is late to the pin at times. I guess coach is waiting for one of them to claim the position.

  16. rabbit ears November 14, 2016 4:01 pm

One comment on Davis game. I notice one of rotations has Noreen and McKenna together up front. Not sure if the rotations/subs. can be set so that never happens. Hate to be playing a tough match and be stuck in that rotation.

  17. Row13 November 14, 2016 4:31 pm

Will Wahine clinch the Big West title with a win Thursday? (assuming LBSU wins the do-over with UCI).

  18. Cindy Luis November 14, 2016 4:31 pm

    UH’s release has the number
It is the third time this season that Taylor has earned the honor and the second time for both Maglio and Iosia to receive their accolades. It is the first time that Hawai’i has ever swept all three conference awards in a week.

Long Beach State at UC Irvine replay supposed to be Tuesday. There are some issues, including one of the UCI players who was playing at the time of the protest unable to play Tuesday due to illness.

  19. Maverick November 14, 2016 4:45 pm

    16. No, UH can’t clinch until Friday at the earliest in your scenario. However, if UH LBSU loses to UCI, then UH will be two games up on LBSU and only needs to win one of its two remaining matches to get the AQ. In the LBSU loss to UCI scenario, UH can clinch on Thursday.

My view is that LBSU will win its last three matches against UCI, Fullerton and Riverside, and UH will clinch on senior night against UCSB, after beating Poly on Thursday.

  20. Andy November 14, 2016 5:15 pm

Responding to remarks on the prior thread about fan conduct at UCD. My wife and I are both in our 50s and went to the UCI match. After the game we went to a nearby outdoor mall to eat. My wife said when was walking alone these “four tall guys wearing UCI Volleyball shirts” walked by her and one of them said “Stinks!” She looked up to see if he was talking to her and he leaned toward her and spat out “UH stinks!” Four big UCI men trying to intimidate a 110 pound woman in her 50s who is walking alone at night. Not impressed.

  21. Andy November 14, 2016 5:17 pm

Btw – I didn’t mean to imply that they were men’s volleyball players – they weren’t. Im just glad Wahine fans act with more class.

  22. noblesol November 14, 2016 7:12 pm

The Wahine just need to focus on Cal Poly Thursday, and then UCSB on Saturday. They need to care only about what they can control, and they can ignore the rest. With a win on Thursday they’ll clinch at least a share of the BW Conference title. With a follow-up win on Saturday, they’ll clinch the BW Conference title outright, along with the NCAA Tournament Auto Qualifier. Win out, dominate, lose no sets, and they’ll have done all they can to position themselves for the post-season.

  23. kimo browner November 14, 2016 7:17 pm

Maybe these “UCI thugs” were funded by George Soros to inimidate Hawaii fans take back power.

  24. Bleachercoach November 14, 2016 7:59 pm

20, 23…I agree they probably just cezar from protesting too…These LIBERAL kids got to wise up….they need some local boy cracks…That’s why Hawaii is God’s Country….Keep those UCI immigrants there (lol)…

  25. Bleachercoach November 14, 2016 8:02 pm

10….I also agree…I want to go unseeded sent anywhere and shock the volleyball world…I guarantee we will be a very HOT unseeded team no one wants to play.

  26. warriorwahine November 15, 2016 4:00 am

23 and 24. This is my first time posting. I enjoy reading the comments about volleyball. I think you should keep religion and politics out of the discussion and to yourselves, whether you are being serious or sarcastic.

  29. Ki November 15, 2016 7:14 am

    27. We can only hope. Her mom told me she is getting ALOT of college offers.
