The 2016-17 college basketball season is here.

After what was a thrilling Armed Forces Classic doubleheader, Hawaii takes the floor for a “greenout” against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville a little after 9 p.m.

UH has a seven-game winning streak in season openers going back to the 2009-10 season under Bob Nash.

The Rainbow Warriors are playing on a special court brought in for the AFC. It’s still the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic, although the first game of that round-robin tournament was played at ‘Iolani. Texas State, Sunday’s opponent for UH, beat Florida Atlantic 61-57.

The expected starting lineup for the Bows is Sheriff Drammeh at point guard, Leland Green at shooting guard, Noah Allen at small forward, Jack Purchase at power forward and Gibson Johnson at power forward/center.

Out tonight are Mike Thomas (wrist), Drew Buggs (knee) and Zigmars Raimo (team suspension).
