Thursday football
The Warriors introduced a new practice session, with the second team serving as the scouts. The formula is used out of necessity on the road, when travel rosters are limited to 64 players, but it was effective today in giving the starters a quicker and more experienced “opponent.”
Two key defensive players are healthy and ready to go. Defensive end Meffy Koloamatangi did not play in the past two games. Defensive tackle Ka‘aumoana Gifford missed the Arizona game while recovering from a poked eye delivered by a Tennessee Martin player.
Continuing the Thursday tradition, there was the Warrior Rumble featuring developing players and redshirts.
The highlights:
> Freshman quarterback Cole McDonald was 4-of-5 for 85 yards, including a 56-yard scoring pass to Kalei Letoto.
> Letoto had three catches for 72 yards.
> Freshman running back Freddy Holly scored on a 31-yard dash.
> Freshman cornerback Tyrus Tuiasosopo stretched for two pass breakkups.
> Linebacker Dalton Gouveia stopped McDonald on a fourth-and-1 keeper.
> Linebacker Austin Borengasser and defensive end Cole Carter had sacks.
> La‘akea Look delivered the loudest hit, flattening running back Genta Ito for a 3-yard loss.
Then there was the Oklahoma drill:

Letoto always makes big plays in practice. Wonder when he’ll get some PT?

Great post, pics and vids! Mahalo Stephen.
That pic of Austin and his mom – priceless!
Lotsa talent in the reserves – we can see a bright future for a lot of them. CM continues to impress.
Col A-house – there’s always room for you and the missus or whoever else you bring.
Just a reminder – CC at Maple Gardens tomorrow at Noon. Lunch Buffet or ala cart. Boolakanaka will be there – hope you are too!
Kapakahi: From Japan?
Isaak still looks like he can play. Built like a rock.
Good to have Meffy and Gifford back. Sunia could be the next rock up front.
Last call for SJSU road game tix (Oct 8); join 1000 Hawaii fans sitting at the 50 yd line behind our Warriors; plus the free tailgate with Larry Beil & Dave Matlin (Rolo might also speak). tomkitaguchi@yahoo.com PS: also join the 200+ fans at SDSU on Nov. 5.
At SJSU; our kicker Rigo Sanchez has over 70 family & friends sitting with our group.
Anyone in Hawaii got a sling box? text me 415-324-0585 pls.
ST, thanks for posting the names of the players that do well in practice they may not be starters and we’re real proud of them. Many times in the SA, I read more about kids doing well on the mainland. Stay home, play for the Home Team, and we can all watch you grow into Warriors!
Great Afternoon All!
Nice to have the roster fortified for Homecoming
😳
Gomen…Homecoming is against UNLV
Expect a real battle for QB1 next season.

Tofuzuke, thank you for comment #12. Right on!! Let’s not forget athletes in other sports that stay home to play.
Sopoaga is one big human.
How tall is Austin Webb’s mom? 5′ 2″? Dude is 6′ 8″. Just guessing, maybe Austin might play, so mom flew in from Texas?
H-Man, she’s a mom so just guessing that she flew in to see her son? 🙂
I think I found someone in Hawaii with a sling box to enable me to watch the game this Sat. But unfortunately, it is only one on one; so anyone else has to find another person in HI with a sling box to do the same.

If Dru is struggling, Ikaika will go in, but what if the game is sealed in the 4th? Would Rolo put in AZ for some live experience or just end out the game with Dru? I guess I’m jumping the gun but just a thought.
Letoto had 4 catches for 105 yards 1 td.
Looking forward to the future, or is the future now?
Best to the Warriors on Saturday. First MWC game.
I recall watching Cole McDonald on his high school tape was not only impressed with his passing, but his running skills. For a big kid he is fast. A really good QB. Im not surprised hes turning heads at practice.
This week against Nevada I am going to pretend I’m in my car So I’m not so disappointed that I am actually in my living room listening to the game on the radio and following on live stats!
Hope to be back in town to go to the game or at least watch it on TV. Otherwise I will listen on the radio. I expect a close game that we win in the end. Rolo got those come from behind wins for Nevada, but we get them now.
