Faalologo back in rotation

Nose tackle Penitito “Kiko” Faalologo is expected to be part of the defensive rotation for Saturday’s game against Tennessee Martin.

Faalologo traveled to Australia and Michigan for the Warriors’ first two games, but he did not play in the games because of a physical issue.

“He’ll help out depth d-line-wise,” head coach Nick Rolovich said after this morning’s practice.

Kory Rasmussen started at nose tackle and Zeno Choi opened at defensive tackle in the Warriors’ first two games.

    GOOD MORNING, HAWAII!

    Good morning to you, Judge!

Good news about Kiko – we can sure use the help in the D-line.

Great Afternoon All! (o’a here, anyway)

  4. Akamai Okole September 6, 2016 12:14 pm

Was wundrin’ why that thick buggah wasn’t playing…

  5. H-Man September 6, 2016 1:03 pm

In the spring I thought Kiko might start at nose tackle, so getting him back is a “big” plus. Did he get hurt standing in a barrel of ice water?

Both Texas and Florida State seemed to “Stop and Go” on offense.
Meaning the qb would get the ball or hand off or fake it, but stop
and see where the line was bunching up, then deftly GO through
the path of least resistance. But it was a noticeable pause that
seemed to make sense—-and lots of yards. Powerful swivel hips
helped, too. No need to crash for the intended hole. Run to daylight
    Lombardi said long ago 🙂

Just glad as “heck” that the team came out of the Michigan game w/ just “minor dings” and nothing major …

LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS

Where can I watch this weeks game? TV, Internet

  9. pakipark September 6, 2016 2:29 pm

Zeno, cool name. ZE-NO, ZE-NO, ZE-NO. Should line him up in the backfield and give him the ball so we can chant his name. Kiko would also work. KI-KO, KI-KO,
    KI-KO.

    Good news.

  11. Inyoface September 6, 2016 3:27 pm

Sure lost a a lot on a thin D-line without Kiko, KT and Hendrie there.

  12. A-House September 6, 2016 3:35 pm

    tom-warrior nation:

believe Kapahulu and I were the only Tsaikos who went to both games.

3-Prong was in Australia, but we did not see him – he was with our tour group – it was large – occupied 3/4 of 453 rooms at the Rydge in Sydney

still groggy after traveling nearly 1/2 half way around the world in less than 14 days.

#6. I saw both those games. The four teams in those two games had one thing in common – dual threat QBs. It seems the college game is evolving to where it’s not enough to have a mobile QB running in a spread option offense or scrambling around then running. A dual threat QB can do those things plus have an array of plays designed specifically for the QB to run. I think if Brown is give a chance to play Rolo will probably script some running plays for him. I believe Rolo, Smith or Stutz probably saw how FSU, Texas, ND and Ole Miss game planned running plays for their QBs.

Saw the first 20 minutes of Alabama vs USC. Boring – was like USC still had NOrm as the OC with a statue playing QB. Heard Alabama got going when they went with their “mobile” frosh QB.

For the folks on the Mainland is there anyway we can watch the UH home games? Looks like there is no live streaming anymore? Are we out of luck?

    cocobean:

you were at both games with us?

should have come up to say hello!

  16. A-House September 6, 2016 6:30 pm

    coach Rolo:

you will never know how your QBs will do in real game situations unless you allow them to play

a “practice range ” golfer can look great until he/she goes on the golf course.

Mr A-House tried to get ahold of you about the tickets but I guess you were traveling with the team please lmk if they are still available..Mahalo

The haka was mentioned in yesterday’s post.

This is exactly why Lou Holtz’s presence vexed me so.

    The haka is not American.

    Holtz would disapprove.

  21. al September 6, 2016 8:38 pm

I learned today that a longtime blogger was a fortunate son who watched the game from the sidelines at the big house via a field pass.

    Nice.

  22. Paniolo September 6, 2016 9:48 pm

After two road games, it looks like our Offensive side need to score a lot of points to stay ahead of their opponent, because this year’s defensive unit “sucks.” They are a big disappointment.
Last year our Warriors played Ohio State Buckeyes on their turf and held them to 38 points. The following week, our defense held Wisconsin Badgers on their turf to 28 points. Yes in both games our offense did not score a point. But this year the issue is our defense unit.
It looks like we have a very good Offensive line and backs…but questionable at Quarterback. I wish we had a Tim Chang, Colt Brennen or even a Nick Rolovich quarterback type in the crop of quarterbacks recruited. Just maybe Coach Rolo should just throw in a freshmen quarterback for some real game time experience.
I believe a football player skills are not seen in practice but playing game time condition.

  23. 3-Prong September 6, 2016 11:33 pm

A-House: I know we only met a time or two but I saw you at the Australia tailgate and came by to say hi when you were talking to Geri S. Figured that “who is this guy” look you gave me meant you didn’t “connect the dots”…hehe (next time!!). Go Bows!

  24. Ohana Hawaii September 7, 2016 12:32 am

Hey! That’s a good one ESPN!. TOP BOTTOM 10. But don’t blame Rolovich! He just made the wrong decision to put Woolsey as his starting quarterback. I will give him the next year to build the program. Because Woolsey would be gone!. Because he made the football program the same like the pass four years since Norm Chow was there!. He is trying to do the same thing to Rolovich!

  25. Maddog50 September 7, 2016 12:43 am

Glad to have Kiko back, met him he is at least 6 foot tall large person big smile. JGW we need to return to former self he could be tremendous asset. Both theses young men can make a world of difference and only to have KT or someone like!

  26. Akamai Okole September 7, 2016 4:33 am

    Great Morning All!

I love laulau, too. But maybe Rolo has not had those “fundraiser-size” buggahz…talk about disappointing! 👿

    Live Aloha. Play Warrior.

  27. Ohana Hawaii September 7, 2016 4:33 am

I heard that? Hawaii is planning to remodeled Aloha Stadium. Why not replace it to a new cover stadium that could handle at sports events. Because the men and females sports program is coming up! Make it more then 50,000 seating. Then Hawaii can call it The Hawaiian Big House!

  28. Akamai Okole September 7, 2016 4:34 am

    3-Prong,

    Try come by SailorBlue’s tailgate.

Can re-acquaint yerself with other Tsaikos including A-house and Ohana.

Happy Birthday to Blog Host and Mrs. Blog Host!

  30. Maddog50 September 7, 2016 5:33 am

Would not be surprised if JGW shows up in some different packages-I think this week we will see a lot more quarterback pressure due to some adjustments. Does anybody know if there is anyway to access this broadcast. According to Gamenotes there is no live stream! I sorely need to find a way otherwise listen to the radio broadcast.

  31. Shoko September 7, 2016 5:48 am

Check Campus Insider’s website. It’s not showing on the schedule, but it might pop up on game day.

Akamai-1: Although it seems like it is always something, it really is again. No time to tailgate this week. Taking care of Mom till just before gametime as well as Sunday. Good thing she lives in Moanalua. Really do appreciate invites. Will try to make at least one this year. Short walk from Bus Lot where we tailgate right?

  33. islandman September 7, 2016 7:17 am

    Wooow laulau ! go Rolo.
Note: Mel was not on the travel roster to Michigan.
