Rebuilding the depth
The Warriors expect to replenish the depth at linebacker for Saturday’s road game against Michigan.
After strong-side linebacker Malachi Mageo was sidelined in the first half, the Warriors summoned freshman Jeremiah Pritchard, who played the final two quarters.
The Warriors were short-handed because Mageo’s immediate backup, Dany Mulanga, was not able to travel because of a complication with his paperwork.
The Warriors are expected to be at full strength for Michigan.

Got to feel sorry for Dany … all set to go and a paperwork problem. Very unfortunate for a young man and I hope the best for him!
Good to hear there were no serious injuries as we move on to Michigan.
Musicman — what is your city and state of residence? Hopefully there might be some Tsai-kos near you. See: http://stevem.altervista.org/mainintpost.html
Anyone else attending any othe UH away game this year? The Tsai-ko logistics and get-together planner is at: http://stevem.altervista.org/away16.html
Ann Arbor, Michigan next stop. UH’s theme song or fight song should be Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again”…Goin’ places that I’ve never been; Seein’ things that I may never see again…” Need to ask Willie Nelson to add another line to his song…”Winning on the road again….On the road again.”
Guud Afternoon Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
Getting ready for Michigan. Minor injuries, game planning, full speed ahead!
Hope we can resolve disiplinary problems and have a full roster available for Saturday.
Warriors…man up and get it done! On the field and in the classroom!
Great job by the Oline and Coach Chris. Wolverines will be another test. Wolverine stew anyone?
IMUA WARRIORS!
Special teams need to be SPECIAL! Most are experienced players. Cut the NOT SO SPECIAL PLAYS!
Sports books open Warriors as 41.5 underdogs.
Replay of Cal game broken into quarters:

I guess ST implies the suspended players will be available to play against michigan if the Warriors are going to be at “full strength”
The game recap on the FB website Coach states all the guys will be back this week. Now with Mulanga having been out that was at least 4 that would have played. Sounds better by the minute
Feeling good about this team and coaching staff. Conditioning also looking good and a reason we are not seeing a lot of major injuries. The Cal Bears are a very good team and packed with 5-star recruits and as we know a very clever coach. Read an interesting commentary from Sonny Dykes in USA Today Sports. Had some praise for UH coaching in the game and the many adjustments made quarter to quarter. Coaches notice these things. Will be interesting to see how Cal fares with the Mountain West opponents in the next few weeks. They took the UH game very seriously and did not overlook. Keep going coach Rolo.
Anyone need tickets to the game at San Diego St. on Nov 5?
I got a block of 150 seats behind our UH team bench at the 10-40 yd line ($25 each)–UH ticket office price is $30.

bone weary from the long trip home!!
initial impressions:
+ O-line looked, played solid
+ disapponted that UH staff did not play AZ and RB at QB just to see them in game conditions – quarterly rotation so Woosley plays the 1st and last qtrs., but not to be!
+ Woosley threw some low balls to wide open receivers coming across the middle – Cal did not and the WR took off for long gains or TDs.
+ Woosley over threw several wide open receivers with his “soft touch”.
+ guess several UH 2nd dary found out the hard way by not “wrapping” allowing the RBs many yardage after 1st contact – bull, if the ball carrier
bigger/stronger/faster – go for the ankles to knock them off da feet!
3-Prong: Kapahulu and I were looking for you all week! wea U bin stay???
Great Evening All!
No rest for the weary.
Thinking back to those songs on the ole time Saturday cartoons…
“That’s why I wish again the I were in Michigan,
Back on the farm…” 😆
Mahalo tom-warriornation for our SDSU tix!
Hoping that many more Tsaikos (and other fans) will join us in San Diego!
A-house,
C U in Detroit.
I won’t be hard to find…
…check the nearest crap table! 😎 😉
Storms.
Traffic delays.
6am kickoff for UH football!
Looks like a good week to be off-island.
(The game no start til Noon in Ann Arbor. 😆 )
Shoko—thanks for the replay vids.
The 2nd quarter shows the “leap”.
Looks more like the blocker lifted our guy up.
So he did not leap.
He was blocked up into the air.
Not fair.
Kahakai is playing too far back and flatfooted, leaving the middle open too often for dinks/soft shots.
ST any info on the recruit that Rolo signed before returning to Hawaii.
AHouse #11
+ disapponted that UH staff did not play AZ and RB at QB
————————-
Who is RB?
Warriors season goes as Woolsey goes and it doesn’t look good.
As JJ said, an incomplete pass is not bad.
Great Morning All!
😳
no new post yet…
perhaps the Blog Host is catching up on some sleep.
tiptoes outta the playhouse…
Sack man, Tsai.
Time to rise and shine.
Smell the pikake.
Hope Marcus Kemp can score 4 touchdowns
against Michigan and Paul Harris and Saint Just
score two each. Hawaii 56 Michigan 14
🙂 🙂 🙂
Rainbows will trap the Wolverines in their own net
of mistakes. Fumble Rumble. Go Bows!
Any comments that Cal is a good team should be reconsidered as they were picked to come in no. 10 w/wash. st. as no. 11 and oregon st. no. 12…some polls had them just the opposite or whatever but Cal is a bottom feeder but i do feel that San Diego St. will beat them next week….what ever…UH was tons of improvement over last year in the offense….offensive line was outstanding and should be given a grade of A and the running backs were effectively running the ball…….plus there were some good play calling on the part of the coaches….i have nothing negative to say about the onside kick in the opening kickoff…..it sent a msg. to other teams that UH has come to play and play they did…….need to shore up the defense esp. in tackling skills but UH was a definite improvement against a Pac-12 team…..

The Good, the bad, and the ugly.
The Good: OL and RBs were outstanding. I was very pleased how we ran the ball.
The Bad: Some drops by the receivers. If we average 50% completion rate and 1 to 1 in TD/int. ratio we will not have a winning season. Ikaika hopefully will improve greatly going forward. His deep balls need to have a better arc so that receivers are more catchable.
The ugly: 3 turnovers and we didn’t get any. All the turnovers resulted in scores by call. The KO fumble was a killer especially. Also, a penalty on a punt play gave the ball back to Cal, which they scored.
The nutshell: we have found the enemy, ourselves. How to fix it, ourselves. I thought it was a winnable game for UH. QB Davis Webb for Cal was on fire, 70.3% accuracy and 4 TDs with no interceptions. He’s obviously the difference for them. I’m encouraged still, but we’ll see what happens this week against Michigan.
Musicman – use to work at the Canton Puka where the Surfers played. We’d go back to Duke’s after work and catch you guys. Joe Mundo was a riot! Good fun.
Reilly Beau?
Ru Brown?
Special team needs to play solid basic ball. Hope Penitito will play, we need him!
The UH offense may not score vs Michigan. Their new DC is Don Brown, who was Lempa’s boss last year and the two prior years at Boston College.
” Brown is widely regarded as one of the top defensive minds in the country; his units are known for their attacking style and stingy run defense, with a fierce commitment to a heavy blitz scheme.”
I was surprised after getting a 15 yard penalty for a 1st down after Kemp got hit late that Hawaii threw the ball leading to an interception. I thought for sure they were going to run it since St. Juste was on fire at that point in the game.
RB = Raaron Brawhlen?
Wish we had given AZ
some reps. When our
run game has a tough
going against Michigan
I fear Ikaika will revert to
a sub par performance.
Miss Coach Demo SPECIAL
TEAMS!!!
Wish we could have each coach
OC and DC break it down play
by play Why they called the plays they called.
Let’s go Bows!!!!
A couple of keys for this week:
Much better special teams play, we may need a change at the return position;
Much stouter tackling;
IW can’t stare down or aim at receivers, as Jeezy astutely, previously mentioned, something with IW footwork exacerbates the lack of loft/arch in many of his throws, towards that end, I would like to see 5-7 scripted runs for him;
And we need 2-3 big plays, either a long catch, interception/turnover, etc to keep this baby close.
I think RB is supposed to be DB – Dru Brown.
Good morning Tsaikos….Whew…been a long time… 🙂
While I saw improvement in our Warriors from the previous years and am cautiously optimistic, we made too many costly errors in this game, all of which ended up in points for Cal.
I agree with Boolakanaka’s assessment, as well as Jeezy, that IW has a tendency to stare down the receiver which, of course, allows the DBs and LBs to react. Also need improved tackling and ST play. If we can get through these first 4 games with minimal injuries, I’m hopeful for the season.
Heck, I’m just happy to see what got almost 500 yards of TO. 🙂
I don’t think Jim Harbaugh will run up the score, like say Urban Meyer. First of all, Harbaugh was in Hawaii about 2 to 3 months ago for a football camp co-sponsored by UH so he’ll be a nice guy and play all of his players including 3rd and 4th stringers after the score is well in hand. To keep the score at least respectable UH needs to take care of the ball and not turn it over and play good special teams. I don’t think they have a QB that was a good as Davis Webb from Cal, but they have better players than Cal for sure. Michigan’s defense is much, much better than Cal.
I see Hawaii scoring 10, maybe 13 points. Michigan will run the ball more, maybe about 55% of the time. They can name the score, but as I said I don’t think Harbaugh will run it up so I’ll call it Michigan 42-UH-13. Take the points, wisely!!!!
Derek: You are assuming that Jim Harbaugh is a nice guy. I don’t think even he would consider himself a nice guy. While he may not run up the score to “run up the score,” he may continue with his gas on the pedal in order to give his offense “game reps.”
My two cents: I wasn’t overly impressed by Davis Webb. Yes, he was extremely efficient running Cal’s offense, but I don’t recall any deep completions. It was all quick hitches and screens. He averaged 11.6 yards per completion (Ikaika averaged 13.7), and I’m guessing a majority of Webb’s 441 passing yards came courtesy of YAC.
I guess I’m trying to say I wouldn’t be so harsh on the Warrior CBs; in the few instances they were tested deep they seemed to be in good position. Now, their tackling (and the defense as whole) is another issue.
