No pause for the cause
Oh, to be young.
After eight weeks of conditioning drills and workouts, yesterday was supposed to be a day of rest. But some Warriors decided to conduct their own mini-unsupervised workout … at noon. Under heated conditions, they ran routes against imaginary coverages for about an hour.
First, we start with the videos — in slo-mo, of course.
On to the pictures:

Champions are made in the off season…I like the work ethic being shown during these unsupervised workouts,I like the leadership being shown by the upperclassmen it should set a great example for incoming freshman
Foist?
The receivers may be the best position on the team. Maybe this is why.
Warriors playing fetch!
Dog day afternoons in Manoa!
Go Warriors!
Great pics. Those receivers and QBs are to be commended for going the extra mile.
In that second pic, Slater looks like a disappointed coach. Imagine of Slater’s breed was collie – Collie Slater Collie? 😆
Agree w/ #1 / Bryson & “3 / H-Man … “H-Man” I just we have a QB who can hit the receivers in the right spots and that these guys can catch the ball in coverage. I do LOVE their work ethic. Hopefully a sign of good things to come
Live Aloha / Play Warrior … GO ‘BOWS !!!!!
Go warriors!
Great Afternoon All!
Shadows confirm that the action was at the highest of noon.
Mahalo to the Blog Host for being there to capture the images.
Hot Stuff!
808, thanks for feedback. One thing that I thought stood out during Spring Fling were the smiles and happy demeanor of the players. So I guess what I am trying to say is that practice is not burdensome when you’re having fun. And you’re right. The team just needs a QB to emerge and lead the team.
Great to see the work ethic of these young men at high noon! Stay hydrated and put on that sunscreen! Need to commend all of them – just goes to show that they are loving what they do and all have a new attitude. Agree with others that seems this team is having FUN and it starts from the top – coaching staff is making it fun.
I think Slater is the best one out there enduring the heat with that heavy coat! 🙂
GO BOWS!
Anytime you’re not getting better, someone out there is getting better than you…
Great job Warriors!
“University of Hawai’i assistant coach Brian Smith will assume the new role of associate head coach and offensive coordinator for the Rainbow Warriors, head coach Nick Rolovich announced. Smith will continue to coach the running backs while assistant coach Craig Stutzmann will also remain as passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
“Brian is someone I have my complete trust in,” Rolovich said. “He’s been exposed to number of offensive schemes and already has the experience of being a play caller. After the spring season, I realized the need for a single offensive coordinator who could bring everything together. I’m confident in Brian’s capabilities to do that.”

Thanks for the pics, Stephen. Congrats to Brian Smith!!
Congratulations to Coach Smith! Great to see that Coach Rolo realizes that to be the head man he also has to be willing to trust his coaches to coach their players and to have their own responsibilities and he not micromanage everything.
Players looking good going out their and practicing on their own.
Live Aloha! Play Warrior!
Basketball fans, Janks was singed to contract with the Heat.

ST have the new QB’s been throwing to the guys? Haven’t seen any recent pics where they are participating with the rest of the team.
I recall seeing pics posted of QBs Woolsey, Zwahlen, Reilly, Hughes, and Dru Brown. I haven’t seen one yet of Cole Brownholtz.
Good for Smith. Best of luck going forward.
GO WARRIORS!!!
Doggonit Haka #4: “Warriors playing fetch!”
Purrfect headline for ST’s today treats…
You can count on ST always throwing us
hungry-fur-football panting fans a bone.
Soon it will be steak…
I dunno but looked like marcus kemp’s two pics were both bobbles…..
Great pics, outstanding commitment and hard work for these guys. Like how they are looking the ball in and cradling with soft hands. Still looks like Kemp having some challenges. IMO he does not have soft hands and used his body way too much.
My list of Bows receivers with great soft hands. Golden Richards, Davone Bess, Darrick Branch, Jeff Sydner, Nate Ilaoa (out of the backfield he was money), Chad Owens and Greg Salas. He was jet fast, but do not think that Ashley Leilie can crack this list.
Always exciting to see receivers catch and maintain possession of balls!
Only 11 shopping days until the 10th birthday of The Warrior Beat blog!
Davone Bess was mentioned on “The Dan LeBatard Show” yesterday, as an example of policeman who had defused a potentially volatile situation without using excess force.
Janks: Vet Camp. Woo-hoo.
It’s good to have a single OC! From all the pics I’ve seen of Zhahlen about to throw, he actually looks like he has a natural strong throwing motion. Haven’t seen that kind of windup since Moniz.
#23 Cappie, that’s so sad what happened to Bess. He was a great player at Hawaii and at Miami. Davone was such a dedicated and hard worker, first on the practice field and one of the last to leave. Too bad something went haywire in his head, I believe it was substance abuse related.
Greatest hands team. Merv Lopes jr. And he might be at the very top for me.
Had the pleasure of seeing John Wa’a and a teammate (I didn’t catch his name) at the Kapahulu Jack in the Box at lunch today. Told them I recognized them from the photos on this blog, thanked them for their commitment and efforts, told them how I felt they are exciting the community. They were both very polite and appreciative, even stopping by my table on their way out and thanking me and my friends. Just added to my excitement for the coming season. Fine young men!
#9 / “H-Man” … amen to that … seems the guys are having fun and that’s where it starts …
LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / GO ‘BOWS
Quite a few updates on the Roster on UH Athleics Football page new faces hts and wts. Sure more to come-can not wait for the new media supposed to be out by Aug. 1. Media guide is really a class act and must read for every fan! Go Warriors!
That is some commitment! (and an adorable puppy!)
Stefan Jankovic finally merited a graphic on NBATV when he stepped to the free throw line. You could read his stat-line.
I can’t tell if the networks broadcasting Summer League basketball refrain from graphics as a budgetary move, or if the players are too irrelevant for the production team to bother.
NSF:
confirming shirt pick up at Genji’s on Sunday, 7/17/2016 from 12 noon!
It looks like all recruited/signed prospects made it to school except for DB Eugene Ford Jr. One surprise transfer on roster is OL Chris Posa, U of Alabama. Although he did not play in a game for the Crimson Tide in 2015, he was on their active roster. Also noted OL Kingjames Taylor got big; now listed at 305lbs. All QBs accounted for and I am anxious to see them in fall camp.
#32,
Also, last-minute UH signee RB/SB Ricky Walker III apparently now going to be a Cal Bear instead.
Eugene Ford Jr. apparently still committed to becoming a UH Rainbow Warrior.
Potential walk-ons C/OG Aviu (Aiea HS) and DE Nuuanu-Kuhiiki (Waianae HS) also not listed on the latest roster update.
Castro & KT off the latest roster update too.
Posa visited UH during Spring Ball decked out in Crimson Tide gear. Apparently a walk-on transfer.
