Great pics! First once more?
IMHO this kid Collie could be one of the great slots for the Warriors….
Now if Ewaliko can get it together along with Collie we should have big plays.
Matt Norman is the 6′ 8″ OL? red shirted in 2015?
remembering little details are becoming more difficult with age
Pomai:
agree — wonder why he dropped so many “in-the-hands” pass the last few games in 2015?
something must have ‘pre-occupied” his mind.
my 2016 wish: coaches rotate players more often, especially WR, after running a long route – automatic to the sidelines to watch the next play develop and reactions by the defensive secondary – one can learn a lot by watching and listening — hell, even the NFL teams do that.
Guud Morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
we got the 20 minimum orders…working on logo design..once done..then place order.
Solomon…got the linebacker “eyes”…says…”punishment coming”…hooo
fo foget Ursa..enough time and the boyz can do some damage…
IMUA WARRIORS!
Looks like lot of explosive options at slot. The one I am really excited about is Ursua, IMHO I am hoping he will be the second coming of a Chad Owens & Jeff Sydner hybrid player.
Cappie, one more Kaimuki/Waialae Ave memory. Do you remember Aotani Fountain that was across the street, kinda an angle Ewa from Walrich Drugs? Vanilla, cherry or chocolate Coke with shrimp & potato tempura was something I craved to get!
read about the ad blockers used in other countries…can’t wait to get it here. companies complaining about revenue loss but at this point…I don’t give a s… been aggravated enough through the years.
pau rant…laters.
UH Men’s VB to play in new Big West VB conference, beginning in 2018. Conference games will be cut to 10 from 22, but there will be a post season tournament. No BYU, UCLA, Stanford or Pepperdine in this league.

Great pics and vids, Tsai!
Can’t help but get excited seeing these names and pics. Really nice to see KG out there. We have a lot of talent on this team – that first game is gonna be fun to watch.
Work hard Warriors!!!
A-House
Matt Norman is about 6’6″ and 270 lbs., and indeed redshirted 2015.
Very happy to see Gifford, Rasmussen and Faalologo participating in the workouts. ST, what about Samiuela Akoteu? Has he been cleared to participate? We’re going to need that fourth big guy in the rotation at DT.
Howzit Tsaikos!
Nice to see a good turnout for offseason workouts.
islandman – #9 – hoping that MPSF and BW teams will continue to play each other every year, since only 10 games will be “in-conference”. Playing the remaining MPSF teams will help with the RPI (for whatever that’s worth), if the same criteria apply (i.e., playing an out-of-conference team is better than playing an conference team).
– Really looking forward to getting Charlie Wade’s take on it when I see him at our Booster Club board meeting.
Thanks for the pics, ST. Happen to walk by the Lower Campus this morning and saw the group in extended 3-point stance positions, alternating and maintaining concentration and stability. Interesting. Maybe it’ll help reduce the off-sides penalties (?). Nice tempo and enthusiasm, from what I saw.
Thanks for the pictures, ST!
NSF … IF YOU USE A GOOGLE BROWSER HAVE AS AN EXTENSION…ME USE ONE IS GREAT..
Good to see Mel Davis too. The guy was absent the whole spring. We loaded at rb but we could use someone like Mel in the red zone or when we go to a jumbo package. DSJ. Lakalaka, and Harris are good runner in their own right but sometimes we need someone to plow up the middle for short yards and Davis could be the guy.
Regarding men’s vball….I’m sure there will be cross over games between the MSPF and the BW. There is no reason not to play each other since we are in such close proximity to each other and everyone need games to fill their schedules. Just that the games against the MSPF teams are not going to mean that much in terms of winning the conference.
We could schedule one game against Stanford here and one on the road every year instead of just having Stanford come here every other year and we go there for two every other year(like its set up now). We could also set up games where we play conference games at LB and stay there to play non conference against UCLA. Plenty of options to choose..schedule wise.
Schedule is still going to be loaded with top teams but again…less pressure against MPSF teams.
Kahuna #16 – Yes yes and yes. RB is one of the strengths of the team. Also, Kiko does a nice job of moving the pile in a potential big package. He’s be a hella blocker for a goal line set.
I smell football in the air. Let’s go Bows!
Nice pics. Thanks to ST for keeping this off-season interesting.
imho…Big West is a step down. Recruits are always interested in the schedule and what conference the school is in.
Play a tough schedule against tough teams. Elite athletes might welcome that kind of challenge.
S A Trojan…I use google chrome and Mic Soft Edge…still waiting for the ad blockers to arrive.
You want to be the conference champs of a mid level conference or you want to be the one who knocked off the Stanford, Pepperdine, BYU, UCLA?
tough leagues prepare you for the pressure of the playoffs and championship games.
we’ve gone one, two, three and done too many times. step up to the next level.
#21…maybe true but you also got to be realistic. USC, UCLA, Stanford and BYU have millions of dollars in TV money and is able to offer their athletes more in COA and stuff. In the BW, where is no football(except for UH but in terms of money..UH does not have a HUGE advantage cause we pay travel subsidies), most teams are at a disadvantage in terms of offering student-athletes much in the way of top rate facilities, stipends, or other benefits. UH might have stepped down in competition in entering the BW but this is where we belong. It does not do UH any favor to be in a conference like the MPSF where you are constantly at a disadvantage(unless there is money coming in).
Sure…elite athletes want to play top notch competition but if your an elite athlete and 11 other elite athletes are ahead of you, then maybe these elite athletes may think about going elsewhere if they want playing time.
Loyola-Chicago…Lewis….Ohio State have won the national title in the past few years. I doubt their conferences is as load as the MPSF so being in a “loaded” conference is not the end all. You can be in a “mid-level” conference and still succeed.
Something to think about……the last 10 years, only one championship have been produced by the the “new” MPSF league of USC, UCLA, Stanford, CBU and Pepperdine. Stanford was the only one to win it in the last 10 years so I wouldn’t be so quick to label them the superior conference of the two.
time will tell..
Great pics..Stephen. I’m not sure if all the startes on both side of the ball for 2016 is showing up for this conditioning program and preparing themselves for the opening of fall training in August.
Stephen how articles about his summer workout in the morning StarAdvertiser’s sport’s section?
Whoa, ST! Solomon Matautia did not look too happy about you taking his picture.
Men’s basketball plays in the 15th ranked conference out of 32 in terms of RPI. But they made the NCAA’s and won one game there. Wahine VB plays in a somewhat weak Big West conference but did pretty well this past season in the NCAA’s, advancing to the Regional Finals.
NST… me not quite sure what you are wait foe..if u have a chrome.. just go to extensions n get ad blocker pro.. n thats it.. no more ads ? n not even take a minute..
“new” Hawaii football exemption:
AD Matlin should extend his first invitation to the PAC 12 in the hopes of attracting most, if not, all their members to open each football season in Hawaii.
of course with the open intent of becoming a member.
next, should be the BIG 10, then BIG 12 – forget the ACC and SEC.
and, open invitation to Notre Dame
1st come, 1st to be scheduled.
Morning Tsaikos!
Terrible news, shooting @ UCLA

islandman – #29 – NCAA MVB has so few teams (polls only rank 15 teams), that all are pretty loaded, especially those in the West. Splitting off from the MPSF doesn’t mean the level of competition will fall. UH will still end up playing most of the remaining MPSF teams every year (so long as we don’t have to go to Provo 🙄 ), plus getting some of the other schools to come out for matches. IMHO, Penn State has a far easier road to get to the NCAA tournament than any of the current MPSF teams, who have to beat up on each other during the regular season.
