Wahine win dual Loss came at No. 1 Maglio and spieler 15-13 in set 3 couple of switches Taylor with schucht at 2 Zalopany and schreiber at 3
Also, Skyler Williams (Mayfair High/Seal Beach VC) has orally committed to the Wahine. She’s a 6-2 MB.
Might have been buried on an earlier thread.
UH also got an ’18 commit from Liliana Light, a 6-foot setter from Pleasant Grove HS. Believe her sister Alex is a UCLA commit.
and McKenna Ross is a walk-on for 16. daughter of former UH athlete Jason, 5-10 OH-L from Orange County

Is Skylar Williams 2017 or 2018?
So Nikki Taylor is now paired with Kaiwi Schucht? Cindy I thought you told me on an earlier thread that once the pairs are set they can’t be changed?
4. if you read the headline, it says 17
5. never said that. Players within a pair can be moved up and down by 1-2 spots legally. so Schucht who has played at 3 can move to 2, Schreiber who played at 2 can move to 3. Now that Taylor and Schucht have played at 2, they could move to 1 tomorrow but Hall said he doesn’t know if he’d do that or keep Spieler-Maglio at 1.
And pairs can move up or down 1-2 spots. you’ve already seen that with Spieler-Maglio.
If they wanna beat USC they should move Shucht and Taylor to flight 1 IMO.
Glad the recruiting has picked, up I was thinking they would save it for a transfer but happy to get Skylar, she looks really athletic. Although surprised for three middles in one class, I bet One gets moved to opposite.
7. it’s a consideration. but you want to win the dual. in some ways you almost concede No. 1, Hughes and Claes are that good.
Today was the first time Taylor and Schucht have played in a match together.
first time against USC this season
UH lost 4-1, including at Nos 1 and 2
1. Kelly Claes/Sara Hughes (USC) def. Emily Maglio/Katie Spieler (UH); 21-15, 21-9
2. Sophie Bukovec/Alexa Strange (USC) def. Lara Schreiber/Nikki Taylor (UH); 21-16, 21-10
Second match they lost 3-2, lost at 1, 3, 4
1. Kelly Claes/Sara Hughes (USC) def. Lara Schreiber/Nikki Taylor (UH); 21-11, 21-19
2. Emily Maglio/Katie Spieler (UH) def. Sophie Bukovec/Alexa Strange (USC); 21-16, 20-22, 15-9
Also, if you want to get up early Saturday, Guinasso and Huddleston are playing in the exhibition final against a team from USC at 8 a.m.
7. They may be looking at Lipscomb more as an Opp and not middle. but we’ll see what happens.
Any tv coverage on Saturday finals. ?
Cindy I went back and looked at your reply to my comment about splitting up Taylor and Schreiber from your blog back on March 24 and here is your reply:
“7. coaches can’t just split up pairs. players are allowed to move up or down 1 or 2 places.”
Cindy I reread what you are saying and I get it now. They can be split up but with conditions….It just took me a while to figure out what you are saying….
GG/HH beat USC in 3 close games
Skyler’s club coach is former Wahine Alex Griffiths.
Darn USC blanked the wahines this time, USC and UH chance to meet in the finals still later today??
USC just has the wahine’s number this year.
Oh well, Katie and Em really struggled on the day maybe time to move them down to 2, where I think they have better chances to get UH a point.
I meant Katie and Emily struggled yesterday against Long beach and today against USC, they were great against Grand Canyon.
