Good grief! So much for taking the day off expecting to watch BeachBows throughout the day…one set of matches. Sheesh.
Also disappointed about Huff leaving. Has impressed me as a very nice and level-headed young lady the few times I’ve met her. Do wish her the best, but am sad she won’t be here to help keep building the wbb program.
hope coach matches Katie and Emily against Sarah Hughes/Kelly Claes
4. I think Hawai’i has a better chance at winning the match if they keep Spieler & Maglio at #2.
I think given Hughes and Claes’ success, you almost concede the No. 1 match
Last time it was 3-2 USC at Queen’s
Saturday, March 19, 2016
1. Kelly Claes/Sara Hughes (USC) def. Lara Schreiber/Nikki Taylor (UH); 21-11, 21-19
2. Emily Maglio/Katie Spieler (UH) def. Sophie Bukovec/Alexa Strange (USC); 21-16, 20-22, 15-9
3. Nicolette Martin/Allie Wheeler (USC) def. Hannah Rooks/Ka’iwi Schucht (UH); 21-17, 21-15
4. Jenna Belton/Abril Bustamante (USC) def. Ginger Long/Mikayla Tucker (UH); 21-16, 21-17
5. Ari Homayun/Hannah Zalopany (UH) def. Jo Kremer/Zoe Nightingale (USC); 22-20, 19-21, 15-11
Hope the wahine can beat USC this time.
Hawaii switched their pairs today with Taylor with Schucht and Schreiber with Zalopany
Hawaii defeats Long Beach State 4-1
1. LBSU def. Spieler/Maglio 2-1 (21-15, 16-21, 15-13)
2. Taylor/Schucht def. LBSU 2-0 (21-12, 21-19)
3. Schreiber/Zalopany def. LBSU 2-0 (21-16, 21-14)
4. Long/Tucker def. LBSU 2-0 (21-18, 21-17)
5. Rooks/Homayun def. LBSU 2-0 (21-18, 21-15)
LBSU’s #1 Pair is pretty hot and cold this season so they are very unpredictable in my opinion.
This bodes well for Hawaii in the BWC Tourney. They should be able to win and get the NCAA automatic berth.
Interesting to see Taylor and Schreiber get new partners. Never felt the chemistry was there.
My reading of the NCAA Beach Volleyball selection process this year is that there won’t be auto qualifiers through conference championships this year. Please correct me though if I’ve got it wrong.
http://www.ncaa.com/championships/beach-volleyball/nc/road-to-the-championship
“The National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Committee will conduct selections for the inaugural NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship on May 1. The eight team field will be selected from the 56 NCAA institutions sponsoring the sport of beach volleyball. Of the 56 teams, three teams will be selected from the east region and three teams will be selected from the west region. The remaining two teams will be selected at-large from the teams across the country.”
8. guess schreiber was ousted from being either flight 1 or 2. not the best pairing with nikki.
i just realized schreiber wears 11. what happened to londow chow?
also cindy can you fill in on the aloha invitational? does it include cbs (see BS) ‘creating some drama’ like last year, declare the winner of the #1 flight the team that wins the gold, and insist that said winners team gets 5-# instead like they manufactured a crisis? particularly at the conclusion of saturday?
not that it would really matter considering sc is in and their #1 flight is virtually impenetrable.
sorry im just catching up was there no video for na wahine vs boise state on the ching complex including for their sendoff of seniors?
also is there supposedly a tape delay on cbs for the aloha invitational?
BYU beat UCLA 3-1…Bruins outhit BYU, but lost at the service line, 1 SA, 27 SE.
