Aloha Invitational this week
Still a bit of conflicting info on this.
Schedule has Florida International competition but FIU schedule has them playing at their conference tournament.
Someone asked about why UH doesn’t have a schedule. This is not a UH event.
the website AlohaInvitational.com doesn’t have a schedule yet but this is what I got from Organizer. Someone on earlier thread said the didn’t want to spend all day at Queen’s wanting to watch the Wahine. This won’t be much help since no team designation
Thursday pairs schedule (news to me since originally they said it started Friday)
Play is at 230 and 330 on four courts, 430 and 5:30 on two courts
Friday has Duals and Pairs, 9 a.m. through 5 p.m.
at 5 p.m. pairs finals for 1s and 2s
Saturday has Duals 9 a.m.-noon
TV (and we all know how that went last year) 2:30 2s and 3s, at 3:30 its 1s, 4s and 5s
Megan Huff leaving UH to play at another school?
FIU is the 3rd seed in the CCSA conference tournament this Friday and Saturday. ESPN3 will televise the championship. The current FIU schedule shows them participating in the CCSA tournament, with no mention of the Aloha Invitational. However, going back to a 01 April 2016 archive of the FIU schedule available on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine website, it shows that FIU had double booked themselves for both the Aloha Invitational and the CCSA tournament. It appears they were planning for both events, giving themselves the option to attend the event of their choosing as the month developed.
1. Just heard it on the news tonight. Sad. Probably disappointed her volleyball career didn’t blossom the way she intended.
1 That’s a surprise. She would have been a starter next season for Beeman. Is she playing BB or VB did they say? Guess if you’re not happy might as well move on, going to miss watching her play. Best of luck to her.
Well according to her Instagram, Megan wants to pursue basketball at a different to help her blossom into the player she aspires to be.
Actually, I would love to have the time to spend both days at Queen’s watching, and have in past years, but other obligations this year, so wanna spend time as wisely as possible to see Wahine in action. Taking Fri off from work, so hope that pays off!
Thanks, Cindy for providing what you could about the tourney. Strange that it seems so disorganized…altho FIU scheduling probs doesn’t help matters!
Huff will be missed sorely as she was poised to become the star player. No need to lament the loss as Megan has to do what you thinks is best for herself. Wishing her the best.
Someone posted on Volleytalk, but Hawaii also picked up a 2018 setter in 6’1 Liliana Light out of NorCal.
3. Huff’s decision to leave has nothing to do with volleyball. If you remember, she quit the team to play basketball full time.
will start a new thread to deal with Huff.
