Thanksgiving in April

The volleyball Warriors always had a family feel to the program. The aunties give lei to players and coaches from both teams. The boosters prepare the post-match potluck. And the past two seasons, it appears that every third fans is wearing a “6” T-shirt.

It was fitting the annual banquet was scheduled the night after “senior night,” and dubbed as the “recognition” dinner.

Players whose parents did not attend drew numbers that corresponded with table numbers. Those players then spent the evening sitting/dining with fans at their selected tables.

There were no awards. Instead, each player gave a short speech. Head coach Charlie Wade gave an extended speech in which he spoke of the importance of each support-staff member.

    ST, You covering for Cindy?

  3. jm2375 April 11, 2016 10:02 am

    Good morning Tsaikos!

Hope you had fun last night, ST. Thanks for the pictures. The food was pretty good, too.

H-Man – the press only attends if they pay for it. The Booster Club pays for the invited guests, staff & players. Attendees can sponsor a player. I believe all the players and some staff’s costs were paid for by sponsors.

On to UCLA for the playoffs on Sat. Hope all the SoCal UH fans show up to cheer them on!

  4. H-Man April 11, 2016 10:08 am

But couldn’t a SA staff person assigned to cover volleyball get reimbursed for expenses associated with their job/assignment?

J Elam gave a speech in Mililani yesterday. A brother in Christ told me today

  14. Stephen Tsai April 11, 2016 3:13 pm

    Elam is a good dude.

  15. bowwar April 11, 2016 3:57 pm

Hope Rolo gets Jason Elam to speak to the team…Talk about Pride Rock!

  16. legistlature April 11, 2016 4:53 pm

    Romans 5
18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
I think this is what J Elam would talk to the team about “This Rock”

    Psalm 19
14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
    be pleasing to you,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

    Warrior On!

Anyone need tickets to the game in Michigan Sept. 3?

So far; got a group of 9 going. Hope we can get back to being a respectable football team with Rolo but so far, sounds like he is doing the right things. tomkitaguchi@yahoo.com or text me at 415-324-0585.
Or other road games at AZ, SJSU, AF, SDSU or Fresno.

Please email me if you are attending any road games and provide your lodging and ETA/ETD info for possible get-together and logistical purposes as listed at:

Remember when Jason Elam freaked everybody out and said he was transferring to Georgia?

How many more place-kickers have to get into the HOF before Elam would be considered?

  19. cappie the dog April 11, 2016 7:06 pm

To borrow a line from any MSNBC pundit of your choice: Is there a path for the Hawaii baseball team to win the Big West?

  20. tom-warriornation April 11, 2016 8:40 pm

Update: I now have at least 20 UH fans going to the road game in Michigan on Sept. 3–anyone else wants to join in? I will get the best available seats cheaper than the UH ticket office–for sure at SJSU, I will get 50 yd line seats right behind our Warrior bench!

Last year, at UNLV; we had almost 400 UH fans at the 50 yd line right behind our Warrior bench 10-20 rows from the field!

Email– tomkitaguchi@yahoo.com or text me at 415-324-0585.
