To clarify Tsuj’s award from Friday night. Gov. presented him with the Big Brother of the Year for his work with BB/BS.
appears the up ref again going to let things go.
2 very loose sets with no call.
UCI has switched out a couple of players, starting Porter at OH and Ross at MB
UH going with the same lineup, including Worsley at S and Frank at MB
UCI up 15-13 at the TTO. couple of calls go against UH, Zarkovic’s serve looked in but called out and UCI middle’s set had a lot of spin. no call.
Great dig by Fey saves the rally. Van Tilburg puts it away. UH ties it at 16. TO UCI
Good to see Van Tilburg off to an awesome start tonite! Realized that Hawaii is ranked 8th in the country but is in the middle of the pack in the MPSF. THATS CRAZY! Just shows the strength of our league. Really impressed with Worsley, he’s such a good setter but just a tad bit undersized when he plays front row. Go bows! Lets do this!
Warriors led a couple of times late, the last at 22-21. UCI with a 23-22 lead. TO UH
5. UH is No. 8 nationally and is No. 7 in the MPSF. Not that crazy. it’s just a coaches poll. 20 voters. Ohio State No. 1. the next 7 are from the MPSF.
Agopian puts down the service overpass. UCI up 24-22. TO UH
Agopian with the kill. UCI wins 25-23
UCI finally using Kyle Russell, their kill leader full time in Set 2. UCI up 12-8. TO UH
With Worsley digging as much as Kanetake as the setter. I would go back to Jennings at setter, and start Worsley at libero and gave Rosenmeir a chance with Fey struggling offensively again. Just IMO.
Wow UH shanking everything tonight.
UCI up 15-9. Warriors looking very apathetic.
12 UH has given up 2 aces. both this set. Warriors pull to 15-12. TO UCI
11. That’s not happening. IMHO.
11. but I do think Worsley is a liability when blocking on the right.
Fey on the service overpass, UH closes to 19-18. TO UCI.
Ace by Saeda makes it 21-18. TO UH
I just think Worsley has so much more potential at libero, he’s getting as many digs as kanatake now can you imagine when he’s in the back row all the time.
Also I miss Jennings. He wasn’t playing that bad.
This ref is bad.
These service errors have me pulling out my hair yikes.
Wow Siki and Kanatake are just shanking way too much tonight.
UCI wins 27-25. Crowd still booing the up ref for the lift on van Tilburg and the ensuing yellow card. If he hadn’t called it all night, poor job to call it at such a critical juncture.
UH up 15-14 at the TTO. Warriors had led 14-12
UCI closing in on the sweep, 2 blocks, one on Fey the other on van Tilburg puts the Eaters up 22-20. TO UH
UCI had used a 5-0 run to take a 23-20 lead. UH has closed to 23-22. TO UCI
Ace by Rosenmeier ties it at 23. Saeta kills makes it 24-23. TO UH
Kill by Frank and error by Russell gives UH set point at 25-24. TO UCI
Fey ends it 26-24. on to Set 4
‘eaters on a 4-0 ru, take a 6-4 lead. TO UH
Impressed with the fight. UH was down 8-4, has come back to take a 15-13 lead at the TTO
UCI on a 3-0 run, up 16-15. TO UH> think the TTO killed the Warriors’ momentum
UCI sub serves long. UH wins 25-23.
UH up 6-3. TO UCI
UH up 11-7. TO UCI
great comeback, Stijn really stepped it up.
And brett’s serve was huge in game 3. He has really improved wish we could see him hit.
Saeta blocked to end it. UH wins 15-11
TWO Great Comebacks
Second from 0-2 ‘has to’ help Team Confidence
Zarcovic 25 Kills Two Nights in a row;
Stijn Return to Dominance with 27
Nainoa Makin’ Plays
Refuse-To-Lose ‘Bows
Hope It Becomes Habit Forming
Go ‘Bows!
PLUS Way to Go Sand ‘Bows!
Hope they find a way to get Rosenmeier more court time. Both nights, he gave them a big lift off the bench. He provided aggressive, well executed play, and ooked more comfortable and energized out there than some of the regulars.
Fey and Mol keep wanting to back off on their serve, to the point of complete ineffectiveness. Irvine was more vulnerable to tough, keep the pressure on serving.
I heard some talk in the crowd tonight about sitting Kanetake. He seemed to disappear out there at times. With Kanetake’s back issues, they should be thinking about getting Namahoe out there when they can.
Cindy, so I know that in every match there are gonna be calls that go to this team and that team, and it usually evens itself out by the end of the night, my question is, does any coach or team have the right to petition the governing board for refs where the situation is absolutely horrible calls? Just like in NFL u can’t re-do a game, but what happens if a team does petition (if it’s allowed), whats the process?
Cindy why is there no article in today’s paper on the sandbows win yesterday? There certainly was enough time to write article being that all matches was completed before 4pm Saturday. So sad for women sports not being represented in local media.
If the UH men had beach volleyball, the media would be ignoring them also. It is not that the media is not representing women sports, the media is not representing beach volleyball.
#40 Ditto – many indoor wahine volleyball fans continue to follow the ladies on the sand, and would be interested in learning more about the players.
39. coaches can ask to have tapes reviewed. the up guy was very consistent in his calls .. or no calls. where the issue came was when van Tilburg was called for a lift that was cleaning than some of the stuff the up ref had let go.
40 41.43I know, I know. I’m not happy about it. I sent a story in that afternoon.
for some reason it didn’t get put in.
40 41. please don’t make it a thing about women’s sports. it had nothing to do with gender. women’s sports get plenty of coverage. this had to do with story not being put in the paper for some reason. We do everything by computers and stories get placed in an editing queue. don’t know how it got overlooked but it did.
40-41-42 There were stories prior to their leaving. There was a rewrite in Friday and Saturday paper. so feel that readers are getting plenty of info on the players. The story for Sunday didn’t get in. and I don’t know know why.
41. I am going to take issue with your comment specifically. Perhaps the ‘media’ isn’t covering beach VB but I have. TV does a couple of matches this season and last. I’ve been there for most since they began offering the sport. I have done previews and features. I do the rewrites from the road. I’m at most of the duals.
There were stories Thursday, Friday, Saturday. preview and game recaps. I really don’t understand your comment. the paper (meaning me) hasn’t ignored the sport. There should have been a story Sunday and it didn’t get in.
new thread up for Monday on polls.
