Warriors land versatile Australian player
Things are looking up Down Under.
The Warriors secured a commitment from Max Hendrie, a versatile rugby/football player from Sydney, Australia.
Paul Manera, a former Warrior who serves as mentor, said Hendrie is 6 feet 4, 245 pounds and capable of running 40 yards in 4.53 seconds.
Hendrie is a December 2014 graduate of The Scots College, a Sydney high school. He has trained during the so-called “gap year,” the period between high school and college in Australia.
Manera said Hendrie is capable of playing defensive end, linebacker, tight end, offensive lineman or running back in short-yardage situations.
Hendrie is expected to sign with UH on Feb. 3, the first day football prospects may put their commitments in writing, and enroll in the school’s bridge term in June.
Ekahi, Ichi, Uno, One
Sounds like a good athlete and has Manera’s guidance
First?
Welcome to Max Hendrie!
G’Morning ST and SteveM
Sorry for the late post.
I forgot about the 21-hour difference.
ST, are you down under?
Max sounds like an athlete…Can he kick too?
love these out of the blue commits. it’s like opening a present without having any idea what’s inside. max definitely has the physical attributes. awesome pickup!
Great news for the program with the Aussie pipeline alive and well! Perhaps another Collin Scotts in he making? Collin was the first to make such a positive impact with the Rainbows. Can’t wait to see what Max can do. With Scott Harding gone, keeping the Australian flavor going is awesome!
Sounds like a nice raw prospect to develop. Exactly what we need, big athletic players
ST, will he have 5 years of eligibility ?
Hey Mates….my two aussie boys were Colin n Guy Farrow (swimmer for UH) fantastic hosts if you ever go down under. The new fella sounds like a keeper.
Happy New Year boo! Who was the other big name guy on the defensive line with Colin. Was that Maa?
That’s great news from downunder. Welcome Mate!
If can can, if no can, no can. Max sounds like can.
Does Kaiwi Chung have enough speed/quickness to carry the ball or is he strictly a blocking back? I don’t watch practices.
3prong, the other big name was Al Noga, who I think was a year behind Colin.
This guy is an alumnus of the same school that Colin Scots attended.
As we all know, the seasons are flipped on that side of the planet. School year ends in December.
By the way, Tila Tequila thinks we’re all on the same side of the planet.
With a legit 4.53, it would be a waste not to use that speed.
How about a macro safety or slot back?
Welcome Max.!!!!!!
Hope uh gets offensive tackles & defensive tackles. Also cornerbacks.
UH gotta get em wherever they may be. Coach em up and develop them into good players. Need to find more big bruisers like this one down in Tonga:

Steeler game getting out of hand.
OSD still get chance, the big guy is on his mission first.
June Jones OC for Kapolei Next Season
Damn I wanted JJ to go to Farrington.
Ahhhhh, das right Al Noga. Thanks boo. Old timers desease…hehe
Congrats Rainbow Warriors. Great win tonight…
Guess I’m gonna be a Hurricane Fan now too!
Wow…that Sanitoa kid from the AS all star team is a ball hawk
22. OSD… There’s a middle school Langi in Kona who should be on UH’s long term radar. Very nimble for his very large size. Too big to play youth football but he plays rugby.
Hopefully #75 OL Frederick Mauigoa (Tafuna HS) & #76 DE Viane Moala (Fa’asao Marist HS) gonna be tripping UH later this month……….since were the most impressive OL and DL respectively for American Samoa.
got a good chance with moala. rolo and naeole had a good meeting with his family last month. his only other offers so far are idaho and nmsu. mauigoa is as good as gone to pac12. also got good chance with moana as we’re his only fbs offer atm.
The retro road unis were voted #2 in the nation:
@UniAuthority Best Throwback Uniform of 2015 College Football Season:
2. @HawaiiFootball
#UAAwards #UASilverHelmet
So this guy makes #8 … how may scholarships
does UH have available … was it 19 ???
Newcomers:
> Eugene Ford, safety, Los Angeles University Senior High
> Trey Hoskins, cornerback, Dougherty Valley High (San Ramon, Calif.)
> McKenzie Milton, quarterback, Mililani High
> Netane Muti, defensive lineman, Leilehua High
> Kalakaua Timoteo, wide receiver, Mililani High
> Larry “Tui” Tuileta, quarterback, USC/Punahou School
> Fred Ulu-Perry, offensive lineman, UCLA/Saint Louis School
Tui is a walk-on?
I would hope Tui is a walk on we have more pressing needs especially with the lack of available scholarships for this class,He had a scholarship to Hawaii in his hands and chose to go elsewhere,I’m sure if he does his part he’ll eventually be put on one…
Good morning Tsaikos!
Welcome to the Warrior ohana, Mr. Hendrie!
One last word on Tuileta and then I will shut up. Probably part of the reason he wanted out of USC is that the coach he went to play for got fired at the end of last season.
Come down to the SSC this afternoon, 5pm game time, to watch UH vs Lewis. Should be a great match, that will, once again, NOT be televised.
GO WARRIORS!
GO WAHINE!
There’s also Zach Wilson, CB from Upland HS.
