Corner, wideout commit to Warriors
In between playing the nation’s best team and preparing for Saturday’s opponent, the Warriors managed to add to the 2016 team, securing verbal commitments from:
> Trey Hoskins, a 6-foot-3 cornerback from Dougherty Valley High in San Ramon, Calif. Hoskins played for a 7-on-7 traveling team coached by Maurice Jones-Drew, a former NFL running back. Jones-Drew and UH line coach Chris Naeole were teammates with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hoskins is picking UH over Utah State and San Jose State. Oregon State and Boise State showed interest.
> Adarrus Wilson, a 6-3 receiver/DB/returner from Morningside High in Los Angeles. Wilson projects to play receiver at UH. Oregon State had been recruiting Wilson, who moved twice in recent years and is playing for his third high school. Secondary coach Abraham Elimimian is the point recruiter.
Haven’t been #1 for a while. Glad to see ST still posting.
A for the effort to recruit while in FB season. Go Warriors. Thanks ST!! I pray all is well with you.
Adarrus, Trey welcome aboard the fast improving Warrior team :).
welcome back ST !! hope all well on your side !! nice gets UH got some size !!
13 years ago, Maurice Jones-Drew led his De La Salle team to a 31-21 victory over St Louis at Aloha Stadium with 125 yards on 19 carries. Kahuku got beat by Long Beach Poly in the other game of that doubleheader.
Welcome back ST.
Great Morning All!
Welcome back, Blog Host!
Long, rangy CB’s and WR’s could pay long dividends…
leron,
Yup. Learned about the term, “get off” then.
Talented team. Great coaching.
Onward and upward!
Yeah, the Ohio State game was a debacle for us, but one snap and clear.
I was reminiscing about the Warrior Beat and how it has evolved.
Remember our first anniversary blog party at Murphy’s?

And the second anniversary party at the Stan Sheriff Center?

Memories! Let’s make more!
Impressive that Wilson has 16 TDs in 3 games.

Akamai: Forgot to mention. Ranger On Fremont nomo pupu. Bring yo own.
Give credit to Elimimian for building a base in LA
Markazulu, thank you for your info yesterday about
how other teams did. And welcome back Tsai.
Hope UH can do like Marcus Mariota can do on offense.
🙂
Is it coaching or is it talent?
Welcome back Stephen.
Nice looking recruits. We continue to build at the skills. Any big nasty linemen in the pipeline?
GO WARRIORS!!!
Good WB Blog Host Returns Day, Tsai-kos! 🙂
Always good to think of the future!
Thank you for the report!
🙂
Have a nice hump day, everyone! 🙂
Don’t know what the weather forecast is for this weekend, but right now it is hot and muggy but dry here next to Aloha Stadium.
Hawaii fans need to enjoy Abe while we can. He’ll be a Pac 12 coach within 5 years. And I’m very confident in it.
Just turned on the a/c. It was 81 F inside the house. Ugh.
Fortunately my grandkids attend a relatively new elementary school, which is air conditioned.
Glad to hear that schools like Oregon State and Boise State were interested …
Gigi, I live in Kapahulu, and in the past few weeks, when I come home from work and turn on the a/c, the thermometer has been reading 93 – 97 degrees. It felt like I could fry an egg on my counter.
19.
Hopefully he stays as long as possible.
Coach Abe is doing a great job with our defensive backs. The additions of Mayo and Rogers with the development and return of Nelson, Lewis, Jackson, Nequan and DeMattei make this imo the strongest unit on defense. Nelson may be a true shutdown corner against Mountain West competition.
NotNasti:
I believe you. Hubby complains that his car is so damn hot that it takes 1 million years to cool off after he turns the a/c on.
It’s a 2010 Camry.
Good morning Tsaikos….
Another home game is upon us. Hopefully, the D keeps up the intensity and the O has a fire lit under its butt to improve throughout the season. As they say..Play like you have something to prove….which they do.
Nice to hear about the new recruits…Good size.
Don’t forget about the Tailgate this week. As always, everyone is welcome. Grill crew gets there around 9 a.m. If you haven’t come by you should, food, fun, friends, and football, what more can you ask for. 🙂
JJames,
I would attend the tailgate, but I don’t want to scare anybody.
And what if it rains!!
23.. Hopefully the state realizes how important Hawaii Football is and puts some good $$ in Hawaii sports. Just follow the Boise St and Utah St model. Make a commitment and the $$ will come in return. You can’t tell me people in Idaho and Utah are more passionate about football than in Hawaii.
I tell you guys: Isn’t it awesome that this WB blog is still going strong?
The faces and names have changed considerably, but it is still a popular blog.
One win under their belt.
Welcome recruits!
Happy humping day.
I don’t know about faces changed considerably since many have the same white face. 😆
GO WAHINE!
GO RAINBOW WARRIORS!
Congrats Taylor!
Congrats Mariota!
Jeezy, you are preaching to the choir. As someone who has to testify before the legislature every year, I can tell you that choir members in that square building are few and far between. Maybe their waning interest in the program coincided with their free (loge seats) ticket privileges being taken away.
Let’s have a solid turnstile count at Aloha Stadium this Saturday. This team is worth the price of admission …
28.
Exactly. Perfect evidence of that was the last few weeks of the 2007 season. UH football was all everyone could talk about and tickets to the last two games were like tickets to the Bruno Mars concerts.
Hope Agasiva cam join the team next year.
Good morning everyone!
Welcome back ST!
…we kinda behaved ourselves… we needed gigi-hawaii yesterday.
Imagine if we can keep Abe and were able to retain Powell. We would do some damage in recruiting despite the lack of facilities. I wish I were a big donor but if I were I would endow some asst coaching salaries to help compete with the upper echelon of the Mt West.
I wouldn’t mind Abe being the HC here one day, would love to have Sally come out here and help coach someda g out here when his playing days are over…Timmy Chang can come back and be the OC/QB coach,Stutz the WR coach…
Solly*
Though it is fattening, the Classic Buttery Jack is so ono.
Hi SteveM. Long time no see.
This is what retirees do: They blog. They eat. They party.
The guy we need to look at bringing back to coach at UH is Dino Babers. Check out what he’s doing at Bowling Green. Very impressive.
I was surprised to see #1 playing CB at Ohio State – appeared to me that he did a good job containing the WR – must be the coaching and commitment by Nequan
Love the blog!! Where is the tailgate on Saturday? Go Bows!!
I thought this was a Hawaii football blog?
What is the spread for the UH-UC Davis game?
Weather forecast for Saturday game day currently says partly cloudy with 10% chance of rain. High of 87Ëš F and winds ENE (trades) at 17 mph. No humidity estimate yet, but with the stronger trades, might be OK.
Now we have a small tsunami to watch out for, but if one arrives, it will be tomorrow morning.
Keep the good recruits coming!! Thanks Maurice Jones Drew and good job coach Abraham!! At least, we are winning some of these recruits, beating out other schools!!
Hopefully Adarnus hits a growth spurt since Spring…..’cuz he measured in at 6-0.5, 174 at the Los Angeles Regional Nike Opening back in March 2015……
http://www.studentsports.com/football/2015/03/12/opening-los-angeles-results/
Meanwhile hopefully Tre bulks up some more…..since he measured in at 6-2.5, 165 at the Oakland Regional Nike Opening back in May 2015…..

ST: With Elimimian recruiting out of LA, will we see the return of recruits from Long Beach Poly?
And as always, #FreeEwaliko!
On a side note, when was the last time we have seen a Heisman winner play back to back games against another Heisman winner?
#49,
Would be nice to rebuild recruiting ties with LB Poly……but guessing that Abe’s recruiting connections are more in West LA, South Central, and the South Bay.
BTW……a famous alum from Morningside HS is Lisa Leslie. When I lived in SoCal, I remembered that she scored 101 points in the 1st half of a basketball game…..that was called at the half.

right now no line in Reno sportsbook. I was told that they may come out with one on Saturday morning.
#53 Beans – thanks
Welcome back ST. Good to have you back. Thanks for update on verbal commits. Obviously after the OH game having receivers over 6ft did nothing for the offensive game. Big for nothing. Why are we recruiting receivers simply for height when you should be looking at speed, agility, and technical skills too. Great hands, eyes, and feet. Motor skills. Combine times are great indicators. Like the 40 shows speed but the Shuttle Run shows agility. Ability to stop and go and change directions at different levels of speed. Now that’s where the money is. Cone drills show strength and weaknesses. Receivers are meant to be technicians on the field. Skilled. Explosive off the line, seperate, and catch the ball to complete the play. Running crisp precise routes and their job is all about seperation. That is why we are constantly being outmatched. Let’s stop looking the part and start being the part. No skill means your not going to catch the ball when pressure is on you or the ball is not on point. Tired of seeing the same Ole same ole. Tall and lanky or short and small with no real skill or great ball catching. Btw, Proud of Kennedy. He’s gifted. He’s not a big player but got the strength and speed. Seen he ranked #5 at the 2012 Nike Sparq Hawaii Combine. Top 10 get invite to Nike Football Training Camp on the mainland to compete to The Opening. Start doing your homework when recruiting. The offense just got exposed on national TV. I will take skill over size any day. Case in point DeSean Jackson, Wes Welker, Steve Smith, etc…
Hopefully this LB prospect accepts UH’s scholie offer…..instead of Oregon State’s greyshirt offer……
