Next stop: Las Vegas, baby!
SEATTLE — Don’t forget — gambling and shopping permitting — tonight we will draw the winning name for the two-night stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
* * * * *
And TYaiea is the latest winner of a $100 certificate to Tropics Bar and Grill at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Coincidentally — uh, that’s right — he guessed the closest score of yesterday’s game.
* * * * *
In a road trip within a road trip, the Warriors leave for Las Vegas today. A continental breakfast will be served between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. And, again, for some reason, the wake-up call is 10 a.m. Tonight in Las Vegas, the Warriors will receive a briefing on what to avoid. The session will be conducted by Las Vegas police officers.

SAFE trip ST!
Wake up Tsai-kos!
Howzit koakane and Pride!
You guys are up early, going golfing too? 🙂
Hey Duffer. No marketing for me. Gotta set-up a few kegs of Heineken for my friend’s party this morning. Gotta get started early, da kegs are very heavy. I wish we had some guys for drink half, to make’um lighter and easier to carry.
good morning everyone. great game yesterday and congrats to da warriors and wahines on their wins yesterday. needless to say we were all so excited the road warriors beat the cats. just so happy and couldn’t stop talking about the game the whole night.
warriors were so dominate that by the beginning of the second quarter some of the WSU unfaithful was leaving our section. By the 3rd a whole bunch of them left and many not very happy.
after the game we went to the casino and ate up a storm. food was good and company great with ahouse’es, cwr, wafan, izzy, sorry but forgot this couples names and a few minutes latter hawnchopsueyboy and his son (who now is a comitted bloger cause he knows wafan and izzy neice-smaller world) joined us.
in a few hours we will be meeting again to have lunch at the crab pot and do the underground tour. so will be blogging later on this eve. still tired and heading back to bed for a small power nap.
road win babe have a good sunday and enjoy.
howzit pride. many asking for you and defiantly missed. you making it to Vagas?
heh heh duffer shoot a good round now. represent bwhaaaaa
It was nice to see some of the players free to walk around last night. Not sure why everything closes so early downtown. I ate a hot dog from a vendor who may or may not have had a license.
OK, Ferd and I have to go downstairs to figure out why our supposedly pre-paid hotel bills were charged to our personal credit cards. This might impact the Vegas portion of our trip.
After yesterday, it definitely is a good morning.
Uhhh, just for clarification, the son of chopsueyboy is a friend with my cousin’s kid.
The couple KK forgot is BNS all the way from CA. We met them last year at the OSU game.
Pride . . .
Sorry you could not make it. Hope to see you in LV!
That player that hit all the buttons on the elevator and then forgot to get off . . . I hope he was not a starter.
Dang.
Good morning everyone,
The comments from the UH coaches echos my sentiments.
Looking foward to the UNLV game to see the adjustments; also looking foward to the BSU/Fresno St. game this week….should be very entertaining.
Keep it going, Warriors!!!
wafan bring my dark glasses when we meet up for lunch in passenger side glove box and no call me bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
morning to you and izzy
Especially proud of those two, “CASTLE” guys, (Corey and Blaze).
You guys were in there knocking some bodies around….stay healthy; that goes for the team as a whole.
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Waking up with a small headache after celebrating the great win. Time to head out and make my way to Vancouver. See everyone later.
BTW – not like she needs the GC but PP’s prediction was not listed on Pomai’s. All she wants is a little love.
pp rocked yeasterday and even made cougar peeps move chair from all her yelling or I mean cheering.
and pp about the family thing no forget what happens stay a mystery bwhaaaa. enjoy the road trip
Good morning Tsaikos!
Saw on the ‘game recap’ section of ESPN dot com that UNLV’s starting QB went out in the 2d half with a sore knee…his replacement came in and threw two TD passes. Oregon St. won on a late FG. Next week’s going to be one heck of a game!
Pomai:
24-17 Hawaii.
I’m looking forward to being at the UNLV game! I finished collecting all the quotes I could find about the game…click on my name if you want to read the long post.
Top of the Morning gang.
My generic coffee this am tastes just like a Primo Starbucks, THANKS to our Warriors!
Can’t wait to watch the K5 broadcast this mornining since I had to listen to the Squack box on a fuzzy AM reception. The only bummer is, the re-broadcast will be with FSN announcers?
99 Club – That 2nd string QB for unlv sure was athletic. No holds bar from him, and he ran a draw play with true grit.
Pomai . . .
38 – 28 Warriors.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Don’t get into too much trouble in LV, gangees.
Howzit and ‘Gmorning Tsaikz!
Good game.
Best part?
We can play better!!
Spooky!
Eh, may I kindly ask that the touring Tsaikos go out and enjoy all the bounties the Northwest has to offer. We see you fallaz in LV Wed.
VIVAAAAAAA LAS VEGASSSSSS!!!!!
99Club- you going LV? =)
Garret/wafan- See youz in Sin City.
KK- Hello. How you?
Stretch- Show the Canucks your Hawaiian pride by sporting all your UH automotive memorabilia! Go easy and save your strength for the Big Apple later.
Duffer/Mctruck- Bigtime Sunday Sunrise Shakaz!
Congrats to TYaiea!
Maverick- you’ll enjoy the rebroadcast of the game.
You’ll find it humorous how the announcers try desperately to find something positive to say about Wazzu. At halftime all they had were two video clips of fumble recoveries to hype on.
Jason Gesser did a good job with his sideline coverage. He couldn’t help himself when the camera panned down to his feet and revealed his true island roots! Hahahahaa!! Still, Jason could use some tips from Kekaula. Robert would’ve told him to go with shorts.
Aloha n ‘gmorning Slugger! =)
OK I’m off fo go clean yard. Have a great Sunday everyone!
Great (Northwest) Morning All!
Not that I’m in the PNW but great to hear all the Tsaikos having a lot of fun up there.
As long as the time schedule works, don’t fix it! Maybe eating breakfast before waking up is part of the winning recipe for Road Warriors.
Is the media also expected to be briefed by LVPD?
Congratulations TYAiea!

Happy bd garret…wish we were going to vegas…
Still basking in the glow of an overwhelming victory.
I promised myself that I would not post anything negative about the team or the coaching staff. Afterall, we have enuff critical comments from a few armchair QB’s to fill an entire Sport’s page.
It was not the 56 – 0 perfect win I had predicted, but a win is a win! Hehehe! J/K. It was my confidence booster. My way of telling the naysayers to watch da boyz go for the gusto out there!…and you know what?…they did!
Next weekend is a different story. We will be met by a team that will be like a gunslinger waiting to put a bullet thru our cowboy hat. They want to be the ones to knock us off our pedestal.
So what do we do? We savor the win on travel day and soak up the congratulatory wishes. Then, it’s back to business! Pay attention to the coaches as they breakdown the game film. Listen to the needed adjustments. Most of all, continue to keep your heads in the game and execute your assignments as you did in the 1st half yesterday.
You’ve proven to yourselves that you can play as a well-oiled machine. Now, just keep it going! We fans will be there for you in full force!
IMUA WARRIORS!
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.

Go Warriors!!
It all comes down to you!
have a nice day, Warriors!
John Estes, YOU DA MAN!!!
and so are you, Gordy Shaw!
and Rolovich!
Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂
Warriors looked great yesterday even if they slowed down in the second half. Tremendous improvement across the board, and if the old adage about improvement from first to second game is true, then it looks like the Warriors are going to have a great season.
It was nice to see so many more Warriors gettin’ into the mix on both sides of the ball. This team has a LOT of individual talent, and they play well together.
GO WARRIORS!!!

Aloha kakahiaka everyone. I don’t think was the winner for guess the score. I believe bhf2 had the best guess. Okay warriors no made mistakes for the lv game. If we don’t make turnovers we will win a close game. Go warriors!!! oh yeah, happy birfday Garrett.
Pomai,
meant 51-27. 😎
Mav-
RE: UNLV’s backup QB. They’re replaying the UNLV game now on ESPNU. I haven’t seen the plays you mentioned yet. Also, I haven’t read anywhere how bad the starter’s knee was. Either way, they’ll be tough.
A-Joe,
Can’t make it this year…not enough vacation time built up with my new job. Next time!
TYAiea
good morning good morning. see you in Vegas,
re your last post,
mine was 38-17, powder puff was 37-20. I would say she had da best score. but I, and I’m sure her too, would defer to your most excellent heart, and good fortune. ST needs glasses 😆 an mat tutorial.
bwaaahaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Go Warriors!!!
we all know UNLV going come hungy, da got beat da last game and day want revenge. and day tink day all tuff an all. an its gonna be hot.

gotta go work. hi ho.
I still gotta disagree with that personal foul on JB hit looked vicious but it was clean, man our d really loves to lay the wood.
Good Morning All! What a great game yesterday. It was nice to meet a whole bunch of Tsaikos in person finally. I must say PP has quite a passion for screaming all game long. Hope everyone has a good day in Seattle and has safe travels to LV.
Great pic of the UH D sacking the Cougars QB on the front page of the Spokesman-Review this morning.
It sure is nice to get a win at the beginning of this ultra road trip.
dj – is that the hard copy? They also have some good shots on their photo gallery.

happy noon hour to all tsaikos here (vegas) and everywhere.
kazz, got to apologize about not getting back on the blog, but saw the last half of the wahine game at hnl airport before getting on plane. both the warriors and wahine performed like true champions. my heartiest congratulations to them.
congrats to TYaiea
49ers and bears underdog this afternoon.
get choke people from hi here in vegas. somewhere along the line, you would think our “brilliant” legislators would get the message about gambling, but they so smart, they don’t want it in hi because when they come here they get all the freebies and comps.
UH swallows up UNLV, 65-25
since i came here to make money, time to go do some damage. hahahahahaaaaaaaaa
Goooooood Mooooorrrrrning Tsaikoland!
Sounds like the away crew is having a good time in the Northwest. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone later this week.
Go Warriors!
Happy birthday, Garret!
Good morning, BHF2, wherevah you are…paddling today? Do you have a white Elvis suit you could use to be our cheerleader in LV? You’d look wunnerful.
Pomai-
Warriors- 38

Great win yesterday! GO WARRIORS!!!
Congratulations to TYaiea – as last week’s winner, all I can do is claim the fame.
Mahalo again to Stephen for the 12!!!! volleyball tickets for the three-day tournament which when combined with our six tickets for a total of 18 tickets really gave us an excuse – which we didn’t need – to attend all three nights. Unfortunately; I wasn’t able to give away but 7 of the 12 so the next time such largess comes upon us, perhaps it would be better to select two winners.
The Las Vegas game will definitely be a challenge for those of us here in Honolulu if for no other reason than the Wahine are also playing during the last half of the football game .
NOTE: UH ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT!! You still have the game listed for 3 pm on the website! It’s 5 pm and the Wahine game starts at 7.
Did an initial scan of the programming schedule for next Saturday & Sunday and could not find any mention of a re-broadcast of the football game. Will call tomorrow morning to find out wassup.
Have a great day everyone and Happy Trails from Seattle to Las Vegas.
Watching the replay last night, I don’t think the score really reflected how this game could have gone.
Wazzu for the most part was able to run pretty effectively. I think if they didn’t kill themselves with turnovers, this might have been a totally different game.
Pretty sure UNLV will not be as generous, so I hope Fonoti is ready to come back and stiffen up the front 7.
That being said, oh man we could have put up 50 on them if we didn’t turn over the ball as well. I already went on record saying Rolo had a bit of JJ in him and he made me look smarter than I really am. 😛
Hopefully they can keep the foot on the gas and keep up the high scoring offense with a nasty hard hitting defense. Go Warriors, baby.
POMAI:
UH 31 UNLV 27
Happy Birthday Garret!
Also Happy Birthday to all the Birthday babies I missed in the last month!
Congratulations to the winners of the cool gift certificates. The food is good over there.
My evaluation of the game is that we still have to get over the mental lapses. I thought that GA got a bit greedy when he was stripped. He needed to “take what was given” and not look for another home run ball. holding the ball that long was like going back to how he played in the past. It seems that Inoke still holds the ball too far from his body when running. That did not seem to improve, which ultimately contributed to his fumble. GA also needs to know that it’s okay to slide, especially when the team is in scoring range. A field goal is also a score, whereas a fumble is a momentum changer.
Very nice effort and it can and should get better. Oh, that penalty on the hard hit should not have drawn a flag. If you watch the WSU promo clips between the WSU – Stanford game prior to our game, there were a couple of higher hits that did not appear to draw flags but were celebrated.
Lastly, while Rolo did a great job, I also thought that the rceivers looked like those of the JJ era. Let’s give props to coach Ron who took on the role of addressing that element of the R&S. He did a great job with the receiving corp. Great decision on his part and coah Mac to recognize it.
I believe in Rolo, and the coaching staff for being brave enough to make the necessary change ups……it worked!!!
Keep it going fellas, we’re proud of you all.
2nd good morning everybody from, Marshall, Texas……it’s nearly 3pm here. Whew!!!, still wore out from all them fb games yesterday; gotta rest up some for the coming week.
Take care, have a blessed Sunday where ever you Tsaiko’s are.
Bess had 7 catches in Miami’s loss today…..
GARRET: Happy birthday = see you in LAS!
Happy Birthday Garret!
Get rid of those turn overs and this team is scary good. 600+ yards of offense. Could have been 700! Zounds!
OLDIE: Yesterday’s football game’s signal was really bad (Oceanic) with audio and video breaking up.
This morning’s replay on Channel 5 seems to be OK except the game started at 9:00 – I had thought it was going to be at 9:30.
In any event, did you record it? Was it OK?
Best to Peggy!
Curveball – thanks for the best (Bess) info. I knew he had scored but did not know he made 7 receptions. Was this as a slot or as a wide?
Happy Birthday Garret
Dirty Commish,
While the Warriors gave up a lot of yards against the run between the 20’s. I felt that they got really stingy in the redzone and that made a world of difference.
…warriorchick
preempting the blog during the Warriors 35-0 run in giving an update to the Boise game…hmmm.
Here the team is making a big splash and rolling all 7’s and all the posters are hooraying and hollering on the blog and you make your appearance and wanting to remind us of the Boise score. Huh?
Pulling our leg? Right?
Any event I had to chuckle. More so because it’s impromptu and out of the ordinary.
Like Coach Mack sed, “This ain’t PE football!”

O-Line looks much improved
Alexander didn’t tuck and run
Rodney Bradley is an improvement at wideout over Salas
Salas is a beast now at slot.
Pilares still got moves to juke
Defense is looking better than expected
Our run D is not that great
Our corners are lining up 8-10 yards off the receivers
We are only covering 2 wr’s when the other team is in trips formation
Saw a lot of missed 1st tackles
Fumbles
We win 10+ games this season and no one will give much of a rip.
Alexander went into this week as #20 in total offense…
Today:
Total Offense: #3. Greg Alexander, Hawaii 844yds
Receiving Yds: #1. Greg Salas, Hawaii 375yds (55 yards more than the next guy)
UH Warriors currently #11 in total offense.
Total Defense: #66. Hawaii

Hmmm I guess everyone is watching the game for the third time today.
UH +6.5
UNLV -6.5
If we win 10 games this season and no gives a rip so what?
We won 12 in 2007 and no one really outside the UH fanbase here in Hawaii or the Hawaii transplants on the mainland gave a rip anyway.
Same story all the time.
I say “f**k them”.
kazz, how was that for calling a vb game????? unreal!!!!

Where and when will the team practise in LV?
Will it be open to the public to attend?
Good morning Tsai-kos!
*burp* Just finished my brunch of fried rice from Times Coffee Shop. yummm. Hubby’s bday request.
Safe travels to the Tsai-kos heading to Lo$t Wage$.
HA! Was easy.
Not to sound arrogant, but at least I did a better job of that than Jason Gesser who FAILED at any attempt in not trying to sound like a PAC 10 yes-man. 🙄
Thank you for all the birthday wishes…but it isn’t my birthday today. However, it is my birthday month, so I just got back from an awesome Benihana lunch. One of our houseguests treated my family there today–it helps that Benihana gives a $30 certificate that can be used anytime during your birthday month. That cut the bill by more than half.
Unfortunately, the only place where Benihana doesn’t take the $30 certificate is in Hawaii.
Good morning everyone!
Nice to see everyone at yesterday for the game! Even got to meet infrequent blogger MP yesterday, although they choose to sit on the bar side. He was very pleased to meet pride. and las vegas after the game.
Turning our thoughts to Vegas, some Tsai-kos are looking for a ride/carpool from downtown to the Kiku Hana dinner/karaoke bash. I am listing them on the Las Vegas Tsai-ko page. Please kokua if possible.
If you are looking for a ride between downtown and Kiku Hana, please email me and/or post on the blog to be listed.

Back in Arizona for the interim…..will be out of AZ for good next week.
It was nice seeing some familiar faces again at the Washington State game yesterday ~ Izzy, wafan, djmitcho, BNS, Stretch, chawan_cut.
It was also a pleasure to finally put some faces to the names of some of the most prolific Tsaikos around ~ The A-House Family, koakane, g-nalo, PowderPuff, hawnchopsuey & son. I hope I didn’t forget anyone else.
With regards to the game, a win’s a win. Sure things could have gone differently (for better or worse), but the last thing we’d want happen is for them to get complacent. Improvement can always be achieved whether one notices it or not.
Watching the replay, man those announcers really got that Pac 10 All Mighty Greater Than Thou chip on their shoulders. Talked about how the Kittens could accept a pounding loss by 50 points by other Pac 10 teams, but to be down by 35 to a WAC team, repeated several times (a WAC) team is shameful! Wow no wonder the Kittens pulled out of the 2011 game here.
Go Warriors in Sin City!
Aloha Kakahiaka!
GO REDSKINS!!!

CRW- when do you leave the Valley? I am passing through there Friday AM at 7:30 on the way to Vegas.
SteveM, mahalo for yesterday’s TV-gate. It was nice to see a whole bunch of you and to meet m/m LTUH.
Slugger…put us down for Saturday.
Have a great afternoon all… going to watch the 8 year old play f. football for the afternoon. : )
BNS ~ Thanks for the ride to/from the casino last night! It was greatly appreciated.
Mr. & Mrs. A-House ~ Thank you for dinner last night! You didn’t have to, but I figured there was little I could do to stop you. The food was good, although the deserts most likely did me in. I also appreciate the book. I’ll probably start reading it once I get settled in Virginia.
I hope to see most of you guys in Vegas for the next game, but we’ll see. I’ll keep you guys updated.
LizKauai #105:
I’ll should still be in the Valley on Friday. What brings you through the Valley?
#108 should be corrected to say:

Hope you and Lois have a good time on Vegas. Bring back some Kala and another victory.
Too bad I didn’t record this morning’s re-telecast. I could use the improved audio.
Anyway, I think I have enough pieces to put a DVD together with the KFVE and KKEA audio.
Maybe there are Tsaikos who want to see and hear the game again with Curran and Kekaula providing the call.
Oldie,
I would like a DVD of the game. It was blacked out in California, so I only had the internet stream.
Oops, I meant to say, I would like a copy PLEASE!
Thank you!!!
***********ATTENTION EVERYONE***************
I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR CRITICIZING COACH MACK’S DECISION TO ALLOW RON LEE & ROLO TO SHARE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/PLAYCALLING DUTIES. THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW SOMETHING WE DON’T AND CALLED AN EXCELLENT GAME YESTERDAY. SQUEAKING BY C. ARKANSAS WAS DISAPPOINTING AND WORRIED ME ABOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON. BUT WHAT I NEED TO REALIZE IS THAT I AM A FAN, NOT STAFF. CONGRATULATIONS TO COACH MACK, R.LEE, ROLOVICH, MIANO, C. LEE AND THE REST OF THE HAWAII COACHING STAFF FOR CALLING A NEAR FLAWLESS GAME YESTERDAY. AND OF COURSE, CONGRATS TO THE TEAM FOR PUTTING IT ALL OUT THERE AND PLAYING YOUR OKOLE’S OFF! LET’S HOPE THIS BUILDS SOME MUCH NEEDED MOMENTUM FOR NEXT WEEK AGAINST UNLV AND AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE SEASON!!!!! LETS GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One point off! Woman’s intuition? Thanks for yelling for me. Have fun in Vancouver.
Go Arizona Cardinals! I miss watching those guys in practice.
My ears are still ringing after yesterday’s game.
Amazing. I was sitting two rows back and about five seats to the left of PP.
Must be the acoustics of the stadiium. No wonder people were leaving.
Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Lunch at the Crab Pot earlier today with M/M A-House, the twins, KK, BNS and Izzy. Saw C_C there with another group.
Hey, if you want crabs that is the place to go. HA!
Aloha Shannon!

My bigger fear is … If this season goes really well, will Rolo be back next season?
Niners over AZ. I love both of those teams.

A great game yesterday with still much to build on. Showed the potential to emulate the run and shoot teams of the past by scoring with shocking quickness!!
Enjoyed the atmosphere of the packed room of Tsaikos at Club Genji with BG and then Wassup Doc leading cheers after every first down and touchdown.
Slugger, the Mrs. and I will be there next Saturday.
Esme woosh and out … going to watch the Mrs and No. 1 son in a musical at the church
Go Warriors!! Go Bows!!
My fantasy football team is falling flat on its face, but at least my 49ers won today. 🙂

takes a real man to say what you did.
my respect and admiration to you.
…nuff said.
i saw the…
coming of paipai falemalu develop even further.
again elliot purcell had a tremendous game and will soon make us forget about his cousins.
rj made a great adjustment to the mlb position.
haku got in some great licks
spencer and mana roamed the centerfield like they owned it.
lametrius davis reclaim the lcb position???
the defense’s attitude gained a lot of confidence.
and….
ron lee and rolo proved all you naysayers completely wrong.
the agressive playcalling on offense complimented the aggression on defense.
good to see mack stay away from the offense.
good to see wideouts get in the game.
hot rod bradley was a well kept secret during recruiting last year.
green will be exciting.
the run game now needs some attention.
why did the wildcat not go option wide?
we will learn to hold on to the ball this week.
the special teams play is much better than last year.
dunnachie will soon have a breakout game once the comfort level kicks in.
unlv will not be a push over.
or is oregon state in a state of rebuilding.
more importantly….
this game did wonders for our recruiting prospects a lot more than one could imagine.
a split in the next two games is imperative.
the oline is making strides each day.
What a great weekend
1. Football Warriors Win
2. Wahine Volleyball Win
3. NFL Niners Win
wafan….long ago, i, too had a shellfish allergy. i was cured by my grandfather’s remedy.
…just keep eating the crabs, shrimps, clams, oysters and the like until you build an immunity.
and the cowboys won!
I agree with Kazz. Gesser was sucking up big time. Must really want that job.
Oline did one hell of a job in the 1st half. The d stepped it up again. That hit by JB looked good to me. The players made mistakes. They are correctable. Alexander and Inoke need to tuck ball away better and tuck in their elbows when they run with the ball. But coaches know what they are doing. All is good.
Good to see Purcell back in action. Now if we can also get Fonoti back at full speed. Look out.
al . . .
Death from anaphalatic shock is definitely a cure. HA!
Remember, Gesser is a Coug.
Kind of reminds me of watching the BYU football games on their channel.
A wafan is such a delicate species…. 🙄
CRW – sorry about the name confusion…. my bad. 😳
I may have to visit the doc tomorrow if my hearing (ringing) doesn’t recover from PP‘s screaming! Sheeessssshhhhhh….. 🙄
Tulalip had a pretty nice buffet for $15, $11 for the seniors. Shopping next door was a bit more expensive…. 😯
Liz, made & al: Thanks…Just had to put it out there because I HATE when “fans” bash their team & Coaching staff. I’ve been a player & a Coach, so I know that winning aint easy…and even when you do, it’s not as easy as it looks! Like many of us “Die Hard Warrior Fans” and “Tsaiko’s” we just want to see our team WIN…now that the JJ/Colt & Co. era is over the scoreboard hasnt been as “bright” but hopefull this game was that corner we needed to turn to become that High Flying Offense we’ve been accustomed to seeing since JJ’s arrival… With that being said… SEE YOU ALL IN VEGAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VegasInsider has UNLV as a 6.5 point favorite. Warriors better make sure they put on their blinders and not get distrated in Vegas. Big game for them. In fact, each subsequent game is bigger and more important from here on out.
6.5??? wow…
Fan turnout may really be a big factor in the Vegas game. Louisiana Tech, though, will be an even tougher atmosphere to play in.
Ummm, since I’m not going to LAS, is the game being televised on some other channel than K5? Looks like the vb games this weekend are PPV…
jm2375: if you have DirecTv, the game will be on CH. 613 & 616.
Shannon-
There are a LOT of posters here who can learn from your humility and sportsmanship! Thank you!
GO WARRIORS!!!
courtesy of the las vegas police department:
be wary of members of the honolulu police department, officers of said department are known to be drug dealers, possibly posing as softball players.
@nobada yu: LMAO!
@DPK: Mahalo’s braddah… you going Vegas?
Shannon . . .
Bravo.
@wafan: yah, just had to check myself after doubting Coach Mack…sometimes forget this is only his 2nd yr as HC…
Shannon – I have DISH.
jm2375: I’m not too familiar with Dish’s programming but if you get Mountain Sports Network or CBS College Sports channel, it should be broadcasted on those…
Wow. 6.5 points may be more of a diss on WuSSieCats than anything else.
Thanks, Shannon. So, we’re getting the MWC telecast again? Last time they (both UNLV and the announcers and the telecast) were awful…
UH: 2 UNLV: 0
I wonder if the points will go the other way if UNLV’s qb can’t play this weekend?
SteveM,
@99, The only reason we chose to sit on the bar side @ Genji is that we didn’t want to degrade the high standard of behavior set by the Tsaiko Ohana during the game. (hehehe, could hear you guys all the way from the other room, loud and clear. Right On. GO WARRIORS!!!)
Was very nice meeting you, Peaches, Ralph, Protector, and Pride. (Had somebody else but cannot recollect.)
And thanks for telling Tina we were part of the Tsaikos. I think it helped, had excellent service.
Will be in Las Vegas this coming weekend but, hope to see you the folowing week @ Genji’s.
Once again, thanks again for the warm welcome you gave us at Genji’s.
I dont know if there’d be a 6.5 pt swing but maybe go down to 3… UNLV is still @ home, their defense is still gonna give us fits (according to media) and our wins are against a DII team and lowly WSU…
Aloha Tsai-kos everywhere!
Pomai, I hope this hasn’t been chosen yet… Warriors 34 UNLV 27
UH – 41
UNLV – 20
via rejuvenated Offense!
Hmm.. found this bit by Bobby Curran back in August 12, 2009/
Now we know. Ron is coaching the receivers, and the plays are decided by committee with Rolo calling which one will be used when. It’s all coming together.
Looking forward to meeting you in Vegas Shannon. I admire you for your mea culpa, but I really didn’t think that it was as egregious as some others.
Kekoa: Thanks…I’ll be in either section 115, row 18 seats 5-10 or row 20, seats 6-9
re odds on uh/vegas, wait till the hawaii visitors come to town the odds will drop and by game time will be around 5 imo. Go Warriors!!! IMUA!!!
I am still deliriously happy with the Warriors’ play yesterday. But, although, I’m an optimist a heart, I already have some concerns after watching UNLV and OSU play. It seemed to me that the Rebels are significantly bigger and quicker than WSU was in their front 7. They were giving OSU fits. And they have more experienced and bigger DB’s. Alexander did real well when WSU could not pressure him. I don’t think he’ll have as much time against the Rebels.
UNLV’s offense has some excellent skill position players as opposed to WSU’s inexperienced wr’s. WSU did have some solid running backs. Overall, the quality of the opposition seems better this weekend. I expect a hard fought and close game. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if the Warriors make the game a blow-out and own the 9th island LOL
Hiya Tsaikos.
Shannon
Bravo. Bravissimo. Shaka bradda.
I gotta say dat about Coaches Ron, Shaw, BSmith and Shaw. They all did super great for the O. The O was just great! Shaw has been super super super super super super super!
And the D. The K A T O O O O S S H H Hzz! Watching Paipai put his right elbow into da upper chest of da QB an lifting him off da field like dat, dat dat dat wuz awesummmm….. 😀 And Bryant hammering dat guy flying across da middle. he going have nightmares about dat for weeks.
and now we can tell errybody, da Wussies no like play us. an day don’t. Gesser can make all da excuses he like. OSU will not wanna play us now. our coaches are starting to do da high roller action.
Go Warriors!!!
Shannon,
kekoa is right in describing you.
and all you guyz, this will be our third game this year. the playing is gonna get better. our coaching is getting better too.
Ron and Rolo will be figuring things out. Shaw will be figuring things out. BSmith will be figuring things out.
Bottom line: WE HAVE A GREAT GREAT GREAT TEAM!!!!!
GO WARRIORS.
Mahalo’s bighilofan2…by the way…where in Hilo you live? My mom them used to live off Hai Hai & Alohalani… I just went in June to visit my gramma, anuties, uncles & cousins…
LOL…I meant aunties…not “anuties”.
Labrat,
I wonder if Jason Gesser is sucking down the same hatorade flavor that Jeremy Perry drinks on a daily basis?
For sure. UNLV is going to take or want to take away the middle of the field away from our offense. UNLV is WAY better than WSU and Alexander and the offensive line will be pressured in a way they did not see yesterday at all.
I was expecting the Vegas line to be in favor of UNLV considering how the Rebels have been hyped up to be as having one of their better teams in recent memory.
One game at a time.
This one again, as with all games, falls on the coaches to prepare, keep the kids focused, and keep the kids disciplined.
@Kazz: Well said…
sorry I just gotta say it again.. Man I love the new version of Ron’s Lee’s offense.. Way to coach up the receivers!
hiya Tsaikos.
Shannon,
live Pepeekeo now. looking forward to seeing you in Vegas.
I’m expecting the Vegas line to favor Vegas, but not 6.5 points. no way.
watch, just watch.
Remember what Blaze said? The team knows they are playing for Hawaii. To make us forget the troubles for just a little while. That means they’re playing for the 9th island too. 😀
I’m counting on Ron to bring da manapua to da house! 😀 our QB gotta step up da gass fo da passes, das all!
you wanna no why no worries here? cuz Gordy, i seen him yakkin on da side. he’s working with Rolo.
I just love it when the coaches are doing good with the talent they got.
when Letuli can run down a DB, you know coach ain’t lying when he says we get sum speed. one big talunka!! 😀
well thought out offensive game plan! as should be with any highly organized offensive scheme.. Great job Lee!
I bringing $$ to Vegas cuz da dummies gonna give away $$$$. I figa day betting on UNLV, I get chance for make kala. 😀
I love that the players responded very well to Lee’s decision to concentrate is efforts to the receivers. very calculated, well timed. Brilliant sacrifice!
Did Gesser play under Cal Lee?
I do apologize to PowderPuff for missing her pix, my only excuse was it was in a comment at the end and I just didn’t see it.
hey you guys, OSU to UNLV Sam Boyd yesterday and eked out a win.
we’re next up into Sam Boyd.
Last year, we weren’t this year’s team. We didn’t have this year’s coaching staff. We’ve got a GREAT STAFF. We’ve got GREAT PLAYERS. We’ve got GREAT GAME PLANNERS. We’ve got RON LEE. and Rolovich. and Shaw. and we’re getting Brian Smith quality coaching opportunities. no doubt we’re heading in the right direction.
no doubt we’re gonna slam UNLV.
wann no why? DA POSSE’S COMING TO TOWN. hooting, hollering and sudsin em up 😀

Looking over Coach Mack’s shoulder are always going to be the non believers in his coaching ability. So what the big deal?
Leading up to the WSU victory, seemingly, there were a bunch of fans here and at other sites posting their discontent with the direction of where the program was heading. So, again, what’s the big deal?
Just because a person shakes their head at the coaches decisions, how he’ running the team or how he’s speaking in public why should that make them a bad person?
When the most congenial and astute people (even here) make announcements, too, like the coach isn’t cut out to be a coach (which I agree with). And make observations in the CA game of the players (esp. the WR) looking like orphans on the sidelines with out any coaches coaching them. Then I would think there are problems with the team and coaching at the top.
And, additionally, how Coach Shaw and Coach Tormey looking as pale as white ghost at some of Coach Mack’s decisions in the first game would suggest that it’s also not a delusion that there are problems with the team. (note to Coach Tormey this is a heads up… you’ll look paler than a whitest ghost when you see how Coach Mack does his recruiting, too.)
And subsequently it induces fans to speak out and vent. Combined this with how the coach makes these proclamations that the WR are the best in UH history and the O-line played an excellent in the first game, when we know we saw Alexander scrambling for his life most of the time it fuels skeptic fan’s tempers when they hear this kind of talk coming from the coaches mouth because it’s not true..and it leads ones to having lesser respect for the coach.
Think of the residual effects, though, of suggestive and angry post of all the fans voicing their discontent on this blog and on other sites when it reaches the coaches–one it should challenge and inspire them in getting better. And this good.
Ostracizing the ones that aren’t patty cakers that’s others prerogatives, I concede. But remember that when people shake the tree it does have an affect–sometimes for the better.
And my hope is that it does to coach Mack.
bh2 this is what I said about rolo
# royvic:
September 8th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
Listened to the Coach Mack Show.
What lingers in my mind is Coach Mack’s unsinkable faith in Coach Rolo.
He mentioned that Coach Rolo will be an offensive coordinator and head coach someday. And he is convinced that he’ll be a good one.
He mentioned (and these are his words) he turned down applicants from the pros in his decision in hiring Coach Rolo instead as his QB coach.
On the prospects of Coach Rolo assuming the play calling Coach Mack is convinced that he’ll do a good job. And he projects him in being a quick study.
Me personally,I got to hand it to Coach Mack, though, succeed or fail, he’s throwing all his chips in the pot on Coach Rolo succeeding.
I’m not going to be sinister and say this is sudden death, but this move is interesting, and at the very least if it succeeds it’ll keep the naysayers at bay and it’ll win over the detractors.
When you look at this move intuitively and not with tunnel vision, like myself sometimes or most of the time, what do you think the reaction is going be like for the players on the team with Coach Rolo doing the play calling now? Honestly?
This should be a huge boost for them. It should get them fired up. Think about it Coach Rolo is one of them–they’ll do spirited work and they’ll jump to moon for him in making Coach Rolo look good. This is my hope.
After the WSU game I wrote-
I noticed basically Coach Rolo showing greater leadership on the sideline, with beaming-like confidence.
Is this all bad.. bh2 because you seem bitter with your “ahems, ahems, ahems–and I don’t know if it’s directed towards me. Or to whom?
You do remember how we ( I ) whined at the UH athletic web site and how it affected change and how it came a lot better. Same principal applies to the football team. Watch, you’ll see it’ll work, too.
MadeinHawaii,
da answer is yes. Jason John Gesser (Born May 31, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii), formally an American football quarterback for the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League, is the Head football coach at Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish, Wa. He is the grandson of Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame member Joseph “Red” Dunn.
He helped lead SLS to 2 State championships in the late 90s under Cal Lee. Then he went Wassu and helped lead them to 2 10 win seasons and the Rose Bowl.
Still yet, his TV ratings musta plummetededed yestaday. He was worse dan dat guy we all hate so much, da good fo nuttin Mel guy. 😀
da bugga shudda stayed real. instead he wuz making kazillion excuses for Wulff. kazillions and kazillions.
ahhhhh yestreday was special.
ended the Wassu matchups on a supahot note.
jm2375,
Dish has the UH-UNLV game in HD on channel 152. I just set my DVR! I’ll be at the game, but it will be nice to have it recorded in HD. CBS College Sports appears to be the channel broadcasting the game.
The game doesn’t appear to be on the mtn network, just CBS College Sports (which used to be called CSTV).

This new HP printer does not need a computer to work–it is loaded with applications that allow it to print certain standard things like coupons and movie tickets. Allowing developers to create and sell Apps like a cell phone App store is also a great idea and should lead to interesting applications.
Toyota’s plug-in hybrid will be shown to the public next week–you can go up to 62 miles per hour for 12.5 miles before using a drop of gas! The battery can be completely charged in just 1.5 hours.
Mexico City may run out of water soon.
144-year-old Massachusetts private school got rid of all 20,000 books in its library and is replacing it with a new $500,000 learning center. They feel that this is the model for schools in the future…though I’ll bet their librarian feels odd to be running a library without books.
BigHiloFan2,
For some reason I just felt the need to be one of the MANY that are appreciative of your past and most recent initiatives to help the UH football team.
First with the JUGS machine and most recently the travel-ready bike.
Of course you’ll be the FIRST person to remind others that many came together to assist with the funds and it was not a one man job.
Initiative is key and when people actually take steps to do so, it not only inspires ACTUAL change, but DIRECTLY inspires change and makes the “decision makers” take notice.
Pomai, you too with the Wahine softball bracelets two years ago! 😉
“Whining” is only going to take you so far. “DOING” well.. makes s**t happen.
Two girls (age 10 and 12) were trapped in a storm drain in Australia and decided to update their Facebook status to get help instead of calling emergency services (their version of 911 is 000) for help. This delayed their rescue by hours, but thankfully they were okay when rescued.
Free play links pau.
That was so of ingenious of Ron Lee to script out the first 10 plays of the game the way JJ used to do it. Well devised. Wonder why he waited only until last week to go back to the old system? Nonetheless, great call Lee!
royvic
ahem ahem ahem. akchally, i wuz tinking of my cuzins, da 2s, since yu ask. and I read your post da odda day, and i wuz feeling great about dat post, matta of factual. and a week or so back, wen yu was (i taut) scrappin wit my friend, i taut yu guyz wen bury da hatchet, das wat he said anywayz.
and yestaday, wen erryting came out alright, we wuz all h.h.happy…
and i stiill iz. and i no tomorrow is anudda day, an tings might not look so bright an all, b.b.but i get hope. for all of us. da royvics, da 2s, all of us. when you read dis blog, sometimes stand back alittle, and look at da postahz. sumtimes da energy is not positive. even a neophyte like me can see dat.
fo me, i like Ron Lee see dat when we gassing him its all good. I like Rolovich see dat its all good 2, we meaning dem 2 well. they are our hope for our offenses. and i’m trying fo make B Smith feel a part of the coaching team even though I’ve got my personal doubts. But again, that was based on my watching the oline not respect him last year. This year, its a new year.
anyway, I admit I enjoy reading your posts. honest. i’m learning. i thought you were an insider and a member of the staff since there were times you knew so much inside stuff. i thought. but since you stayed back, i dunno wat to tink now.
feel better that i mean/t you no harm, really! i enjoy it when we’re ALL feeling super duper about our players and coaches and team. honest.
now, can i go back to yelling. 😀
bhf2 right on. you i like cause you give energy to this blog. and re gesser he was drafted by the titans and when he was arrested for dwinking while dwiving they dropped him.
Bh2, read your #201. Big sigh of relief on this side. I know if you took me aside I’d probably be deserving of the lecture on portraying positivity and having less negativity, and I would say you’re absolutely right. But then the positivity would be short lived in me and it would soon be overcome with pigheadedness. Sorry that’s the way I am.
oh oh meant dwiving while dwinking.
no worries, royvic.
get one bradda ak lie dat 2. still love him even dough i am always right.
right. i mean left. i mean right.
lets get past UNLV. no like bachi da great vibes we puttin out.
Speakin ah puttin out, did I mention we beat da free online fortune teller Crystal Ball as well as Wassu?
an Madame Poot, pftttt, she never like take a chance on calling da winna.
I won’t need a megaphone in Vegas. das a target.
I like drink with Pride and Vegas, listen to dem sing. force dem to listen to me sing.
maybe D1 and AJoe will singalong. an an LizK. 😀
i’m going to have fun… and den watch da Warriors do what Blaze Soares said:
“We wanted to go out there and play for the people of Hawai’i. We know our economy is very bad. We play 60 minutes of football, and that’s when our fans’ problems go away. They’re focused on UH football. We have to go out there and make our fans happy for 60 minutes, and not let them think about real-life problems. We want them to go out and have fun watching us play.”
I say Soares for Mayor!
da bugga is one pubic speakah!
silk. 😆
Hey .. whatever. They call it… they give it their best shot. It works or it doesn’t. BUT, that’s their job. They make the hard decisions, they call it and give it their best shot. Sometimes it works… sometimes.. it needs improvement.
As a fan.. I root and toot whatever the decision.. moan when we lose.. hope for a quick fix and turn around… and root and toot at the next decision. 4th and 20, down by 24 with 12 minutes to play….as a fan.. I think.. “Still got chance! IMUA.”
If we get trounced, bounced to the last ounce of our breath, I think… das okay.. still got next week, next season, we can fix, we’ll be ready and I root and toot some more.
When they think outside of the box, and makes me scratch my head, I think..”this took some serious considerations”…and my gut says.. trust em, let them build the program the way they see best. Sit back and LEARN.
What’s best for our Warriors isn’t just about winning, it’s about every other little thing that goes into making a successful program. Selecting the staff, the training program, lobbying for the equipment and facilities, recruiting, maintaining and improving academic achievements and marketing. Making the right sacrifices.
Looking at the big picture, I cannot imagine anyone better for head coach.
Coach Mac calls the defense, Coach Rolo calls the offense. All will be good in the Warriors play calling. Don’t let the locals fool you. Big time football requires big time coaches. I wish the Lee brothers could handle, but we need the outside help to call the game and Cal and Ron to keep the Kahuku and St. Louis boys coming.
Thank goodness for that. I fully expect them to improve even from this game as this was the first game on the road. A lot less overrunning plays and bad angles from the Cent. Arkansas game, so the players are studying the film and correcting mistakes.
How many Hawaii fans were in the Qwest stands? I could hear the “D-FENSE” on the radio broadcast.
Should be plenty plenty more in Vegas, making this almost a road home game for the Warriors. The defense really fed off of that and hopefully this will give them a bit of a boost at UNLV.
Silly question: how do they wash the uniforms when they’re on the road or do they just let it air out naturally?
mih,
Gesser absolutely did play for Cal Lee at SLS.

Kazz,

hope to see you singing in Vegas.
MadeinHawaii,
we gotta be related. 😀
Palolo,
imo … ahhh…. neva mind….
wats da use…. gonna take a few more games like yestaday befo yu go
Whoaa….. an jump on da bandwagon about da Pake braddaz.
fo me, I like cheer for da midgit 😆 with the greatest respect.
Mack deserves to be acknowledged for backing those who have backed him up 10000%. and thats his coaches. and his wife! you seen how happy he was yesterday. yeeee haaaa!!!
Good job Coaches!!!!!
Let me just say one word about our excellent coach..
Hanohano.
okay, let me say 2. Falemalu.
okay, let me say 4. Shaw. Tormey. and you know these weren’t just his ideas. the other coaches had a hand in these decisions too.
my criticism about Coach is how da heck we neva handle Destin Stewart better. his gramma, political correctness? i say perfect!!!! 😀
😛
Forgot one…
Noah Campbell
Saw Yoda on the sidelines complete with standard coach’s garb & headset. Logical conclusion is that he is hooked up directly to Ron Lee to convey info to the receivers. Is he a recent addition as a grad assistant? I know the former Baltimore Raven’s LB is one of the GAs. How many can a team have?
Hope someone out there has answers. . .Mahalo!
Yoda is still undergrad.
If Ron and Cal were willing to uproot and leave Hawaii 15 – 20 years ago and coach in the College level outside of Hawaii, I bet many would have been singing praises as some did of Norm Chow. But that they chose to be satisfied with staying in the islands. For this, I am extremely grateful. They became coaching assistants to JJ and have been a huge plus for the Warriors. They brought stability and continuity when everything else was in turmoil after JJ and most of the other coaches jumped ship to SMU. As a result, they helped our Warrior program heal faster than expected by even the most optimistic of us. Now only has it healed, it looks like we only had a small burp rather than an upheaval.
Cooke field.. excuse… Ching Athletic Complex looks amazing… The Aloha is getting much needed Aloha.. albeit slowly, but surely. The Coach Mac Show, which is on tonight at 10:30, is going national. Recruiting is on an upswing and the Warriors went for 600+ yards against a BCS team! The Grayshirts and Redshirts in the wings looks very promising.
d1… amazing roster..
Cal had an eye for talent.
I couldn’t sleep last night. I was soooooooo excited about yesterday’s game. Offense reminded me of when Rolo was pulling the trigger against BYU in 2001. Defense was rocking the house, hitting the c*#p out of the Cougars. Yesterday’s first half will give the coaches good film for the rest of the season to show the players what they are capable of doing.
Had to remember the old mantra: “You’re never as as good as think you are after you win, and you’re never as bad as think you are after you lose.”
But never mind the mantra, we looked damn good yesterday. If we can learn how to keep the ball off of the carpet, and maintain the same intensity for every game. We’ll be alright.
Good linebacker D1. Now he’s a very good musician.
yeah D1.
and get samoa. wat i wuz alluding to is da fact that our coaches sucked it up and hung in for da local. i’m talking about Hanohano. on dat one our coaches went against the wind and hung in there for the young man, give him chance. don’t think we don’t feel much much much aloha for the Lees to stick up for us. doze buggaz are hot hot hot!!!!! and so is Mack!!!! 😀
okay, nuff butt rubbin and scratchin… time fo get back to business…
UNLV on da hotseat! 😀 Make Ready…..
Go Warriors!!!!
Hiya Pride..
great game, huh!
Tsaikos our Midnight family will be leaving us tomorrow (Monday) to relocate to Arlington, Texas. They will join many tsaikos in LV this week before continuing on to Texas. I told him at least he’ll be living in the suburbs of Dallas and he can watch June Jones Ponies- he never said a word, just smiled.
Ralph,
I was sad to hear about that news from midnight and Barbara at the last tailgate.
They are very good people and will be missed. 🙁
Always sad to see friends, family, and fellow fans having to leave the islands. I wish them well and success. But thank goodness for the internet, blogs, and forums to keep us all connected no matter where we end up, eh?
AND FOOTBALL to give us all something in common to talk about — when we are not eating.
Reminder – No Na Koa lunch meeting on 9/14. There will be one next week when the team and coaches are back in town.
Notice from the Pu’u vent, Kilauea, Big Island…da bugga neva show, da only one with white hair was the Madam herself. She said she goin’ to Pepeekeo to do a repossession, her mana gave us the win, now she wants the hawaiian.
Excited about the future. Good to see the young bearcubs getting their feet wet. Falemalu, Liko Satele, Meatoga, Hanohano, and Correa will remember this game and use it as a confidence builder. They will play in the next few years at Army, Colorado, Washington, USC, and BYU. Beating a Pac-10 school at the Seattle Seahawks’ Stadium will be in their memory bank. They will be ready to face anyone, anywhere, as they continue building up good memories this season. Hopefully next year, we will bring in a new crop of young offensive linemen who will gain the same experiences. Just like the years when Samson Satele, Tala Esera, and Dane Uperesa were young bearcubs themselves.
Aloha Midnights.
I just realized that the Warriors have two half-byes. One after UNLV (10 days) and then immediately after LaTech (9 days) and then it’s all business till the end of the season. That’s a tough schedule.
tonight’s news
off to vegas!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJacq_LtcoM
Business trip!
No gambling for any team members allowed regardless of age.
Confined to the hotel property during the week. Allowed to bowl, go to movies; both available on the resort grounds.
Keep da focus!
We said our fond Alohas to Midnight and Barbara last night at Genji’s. Wished them well and safe journey to Sin City and Arlington. It was great knowing Midnight who sang ” Mack The Knife” at a Karaoke Call @Genji’s… We will miss them…Take care!

d1, I guess that Yoda is kinda like a volunteer coach. Has limited responsibilities and does not count against the number of coaches allowed? He looked real official on TV.

Willie,
IIRC the title is Student Assistant.
I hope dats one of the school’s headsets he get on and not one he brought on his own! 😆
c_c,
Thanks for the video.
See you in Vegas! Safe trip!
Best wishes to Midnight and Barbara. I always enjoyed singing together with Midnight at karaoke kalls. I didn’t even know they were leaving until a couple days ago, they never said anything when I was talking to them at the last tailgate. (I came late, so I missed the announcement.) If I had known, I would have given them each a big hug.
ST and those with team access:

That’s true, but you forgot to mention that it means water and not the green and brown bottles as some of our Tsaikos will get confused by that. lol

If Tsai needs a few more bucks for the tables he could be raffling off the prize
