Beach day
The Warriors closed the training phase of the offseason conditioning program with this morning’s workout at Waikiki Beach.
They ran eight 53s, four half-gassers, two full gassers and a 300. Translation: They sprinted 1,368 yards … on sand … and half the time on a slanted path.
The Warriors will focus on testing next week.
Training camp opens on Aug. 4.

The sixth Hilina‘i Walk is scheduled for tonight. This year, participants, including Hilina‘i will walk the first and final mile. In between (37 miles), there will be five-person relay teams running and altering at each mile.
Hilina‘i is the daughter of Tommy Heffernan, UH’s strength/conditioning coordinator. Donations offset the cost of attending the Variety School. Donations may be sent to:

At least they were at the beach!
TGIF!
Matlin looks Hobbit size.
Anyone know a way I can get tickets for the Wisconsin game? I was looking on the UH athletics site but looks like the deadline passed.
Webb is a tall dude. He makes Hensley (who is big) seem like a small guy.
Austin is huge! Can’t imagine what he will look like after a couple of years in the strength program.
3. The deadline is today call the UH ticket office

Jerome Williams made it through the sixth. I hope the Phillies manager takes him out. Only three earned runs. So far, it has been a somewhat encouraging new beginning. Pitching for his baseball, he is, in Yoda terms.
Good to see Jerrell Jackson still present!
Size is great… but Ben Clarke is proof that you better have damn good footwork and know how to use your hands. If not, size means absolutely nothing. History shows our biggest O linemen in past ended up being the slowest that didn’t see the field.
Article in yahoo sports on 7 coaches “on the hot seat”….coach
Chow is listed as # 7..
Record at Hawaii: 7-29
2015 Salary: $620,500
Winning on a consistent basis at Hawaii is no easy task. With scarce financial resources and a small local recruiting base, Hawaii will always be at a significant disadvantage in comparison to most school in the FBS. With that said, the school’s administration can’t be pleased with the eight wins in three seasons that Chow has produced. Chow has been one of the most successful assistant coaches in college football history, and his first crack at being a head coach could end up being short lived.
You know Dalton is from the Mainland because he is wearing white socks with his slippas. And Kiko is standing in a barrel full of ice water to reduce swelling or just trying to cool off? In any case how does he get out without help or tipping the barrell?
Nothing like running in the sand. Hard work pays off.
GO WARRIORS!!!
It’s hard to believe, although pictures are deceiving, that Kiko’s weight is 300 at 5’11” according to the roster numbers. His legs must be huge!
Well, four more days till MWC football Media days.
Eperone Moananu
Stephen – FYI on the Heffernan address. If it is on Makahio Street in Kaneohe, I believe that the number should be “45-xxx” versus “34-xxx”.
Congrats to Teshya and Teniya Alo.
3.
Thanks
Since not much going on here at at UH, decided to go watch old UH games. Gotta say that the 1982 UH football team probably fielded the best D of all time. That was a truly awesome D and bunch of guys.
Trojan, how you, brah?
me is good here…thanks 4 asking…hmmmmm no see u here…longest time…thought u was mad with coach chow again…he he he
ne way not to worry…soon..like a few weeks…he be chasing championships again…
think this season he has a better crew around him…n should produce 7 wins…
in spite of…run…run…pass…score…oops make mistake….punt… he he he
good receiving core this year…if all stay healthy… should be like JJ’s years…just make sure the scoreboard all the bulbs are a working…they will light it up…
H-man…ur ask scientific question… but first…how did he get in…n not …
tip the barrel ? guess if he has a long legs he can just step in n out ?
Trojan, but he has short, stubby, muscular legs at 5′ 11″ and 300 lbs. I just cannot see that there is enough room in the barrel for Kiko to lift a leg over the edge. If he can, then he is really limber. I think someone helped him in, but bailed on him. He is stuck there holding his cellphone and maybe calling for help. He sure seems to be enjoying standing in that barrel. I can’t wait to see him play on the field.
Yea… me agree he is a very big man…just wonder if a menehunes have a cell phone..so he can txt them to help him out…
Ne way… wonder how much shave ice can be made with all the ice ?
Shame to waste it huh…he he he
#9 Yes agree winning is hard in Hawaii
Hope team will do better next yr!
June and Wags knew how to do it.
Im ready for June Jones return after or during
next season.Gov please are you listening.
This Pro style O is not happening.
Hope to see JJ 2.0 soon.!!!!!!!!!!
I am not one who wants the return on past coaches once the Chow era in completed. When it’s time for a change it would be great to have a new leader.
#12 Shoko: I have a friend, was 5’10” and 350, was definitely overweight but wouldn’t call him obese. Let’s just say some Samoans can really hold their weight well. It was mostly in his legs, his calves were bigger than my thighs.
Today is the 33rd wedding anniversary of out blog host.
Congratulations Stephen and Wena!
ST also had to remind us that today is the 9th Anniversary of the blog. Wow, 9 years… seems like not too long ago we held the Warrior Beat 1st anniversary party…

Happy birthday, blog
Good morning, Blog.
1st post of the new year.
ai-eee-soos — please send me an email. I would like your email address to send a Tsai-ko gravatar. Those with Tsai-ko gravatars who choose to display them have personally met at cattle calls, games, tailgates, karaoke calls, etc. Although I do not recall you attending (I haven’t been to them all), you have been posting here from the first year–4 months before the 1st Blog Birthday party, and merit a gravatar if you desire.
#30, SteveM, what’s a Tsai-ko gravatar? Sounds kind of elitist, huh. j/k. I don’t even have an avatar. I guess I haven’t gotten to that stage yet, lol.
Good the guys got to hit the beach sand.
But they all look sleep deprived.
But their hard work and Chow’s chasing championships
remind me of the song, “Mr. Sandman”
…bring me a dream
AN UNDEFEATED SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
