Wideout Terrence Sayles loved the Warriors, the coaches and Hawaii.
But paradise is costly, and Sayles conceded: “It was just too expensive to stay.”
Sayles transferred to Texas State, where he will compete in football and track.
As an Army veteran who was raised in Dallas, Sayles qualifies for the Hazelwood Act of Texas. The program provides a qualified veteran with up to 150 credit hours at a Texas state school.
Sayles said he will miss “the bonds” he created since joining the Warriors following a walk-on tryout in 2014. He redshirted as a freshman last year.
First!
Hawaii veterans could use something like the Hazelwood Act of Texas. Do we have a program like this?
Good morning everyone!
Best wishes for Terrence Sayles!
Warrior Football 3 months away.

above PLUS YEN ?
Aloha Tsai-kos & Tsai-kettes ~ With football season tickets going on sale today, it seemed like a good time to announce that I have reserved Cabana A (same as the last couple of years) at Rainbow Bay Marina for all the home game tgates. Mrs. SB and I hope to see everybody there this year. Cheers, SailorBlue
Sail away from paradise. Good luck to Sayles and thanks for his service.
Is it just me? I don’t get it. A horse wins the big three and gets big time media coverage. It’s a horse! Not a human or team sport.
Jimmy:
Wait until the horse goes out to stud. That’s the real, ahem, money ball.
Thanks SailorBlue and Mrs. SB!!!
Great Afternoon All!
All good with my season tickets…invite others to join in.
Good Luck and Aloha Mr. Sayles.
Mahalo Sailor Blue and Mrs. Sailor Blue!
…maybe there should be a “practice session”?
Polly, regarding your post #12 on prior blog, I haven’t followed Kaumeyer’s bio closely but he is part Japanese and his wife is from Japan. So, he might have gone to Japan because of his wife or roots? I don’t know how much his salary was there but maybe that was a factor.
JTL…. yea guess if you are a horse lover n editor or have a mucho stock in media…that can n will happen… like the dog shows in New York…n Cock fighting here in Philippines…
SOME BIG TIME derbys here draw big time fans.. n the arena is the same one that was used in ‘the thriller in manila’ … ali vs frazier…holds 16,500 …tickets are about 100 bucks i think.. n sum more then that…air con.. n no keawe trees around …he he
many from hawaii come in feb to see n participate…big time bettors…
Really glad to hear Coach Chow on the Bobby Curran Show this morning, as he explained that he and OC Bailey discussed their relationship and sorted out their offensive game planning. Bailey will do the game play calling. The offense will do some of the things that Bailey did at Idaho State, but only to the extent that the Warriors have the players that matches that scheme. It sounds like Chow has matured as a head coach.
And the thing is the horse doesn’t come back and defend it’s titles. Now Serena Williams, that’s a studette.
A well endowed male horse is hung like a ______ ???
Any geldings in the house? 😆
Terrence will team up with another former Rainbow Warrior, Kwamane Bowen
jtl, you got me thinking. They’re going to keep racing the horse so does that mean they can race and defend the titles? Or is it only for 3 year olds?
The dilemma about continuing was that they can make $100,000 per foal for stud fees and do it about 100 times per year. Now, that’s some bucks.
Don’t know much about horse racing other than the horse does the running.

Remember when Mike Golic went on a tirade when Secretariat was voted ahead of Walter Payton in ESPN’s 100 Greatest Athletes promotion?
I skip live coverage of horseracing because it makes me queasy at the prospect of seeing a horse go down.
MLB.com has Ian Kahaloa ranked a little lower than Baseball America. He is ranked #138.
Steven Wright’s third victory for the Red Sox has, I would hope, cemented his place on the active roster for the remainder of the season. This is so unexpected. I remember Don Robbs, prior to Wright reconstructing himself as a knuckleballer, saying, without any malice, that his promising career was passing him by.
Mono.
I wonder if Wright could have led Hawaii out of the 2005 Regionals?
I hope Ian takes the same route that Kolten did. A few years prep work in college may help him.
Kolten’ s rise in the majors after his three years in college seems almost meteoric as he is being considered a possible all star candidate. Great for him and I hope others with aspirations are watching and considering the same route.

I was going to support your comment with Kean Wong’s struggles at the Class A Advanced level, but his bat is starting to wake up. He is hitting a season-high .247 after collecting three hits today.
The same goes for Kodi Medeiros, who started off slow, but has since lowered his ERA to 4.23.
Hopefully, the Campbell head coach scared prospective teams off by making Kahaloa throw a ridiculous 136 pitches in that semifinal game against Kamehameha-Kapalama.
Common Man! Hard to complain about the season ticket prices. Cheaper than buying PPV at home (just drink fast as the tailgate…hehe)
This is THE SEASON! Go Bows…
#24 … definitely Rainbow Warrior season ticket prices are reasonable. The UW Huskies have a new stadium, but General admission tickets are $495, and the best regular seat costs $1,245.
And I learned today that hype is not short for hyperbole … which is good because the UH video link is called “2015 Hype Video” … http://hawaiiathletics.com/news/2015/6/5/FB_0605152703.aspx?path=football
