Satele expected to miss 2009 season
Middle linebacker Brashton Satele said he will undergo surgery next week in Los Angeles after being diagnosed with a torn labrum and a fractured rotator cuff in his left shoulder. Satele has a strong case for a medical hardship that would allow him to play as a sixth-year senior in 2010.
* * * * *
Kenny Estes, who had been practicing as the No. 1 left safety for more than a week, will undergo tests to determine the cause of the pain in his right shoulder.

Wahine volleyball coach Dave Shoji and outside hitter Kanani Danielson are today’s guests on the Warrior Beat Show, which will start at about 12:30 p.m.

bummer
still up, but ready to go to bed
Brashton motivated himself to get ready for his sr yr, but somehow it seems that his shoulder or upper body has not recovered from past injuries. my best to him and hopefully he can find a solution that will correct this problem.
top five. didn’t expect grandpa to have the energy to be up for a new post.
Really sad news about Satele. Hopefully he can get that medical hardship and return strong next year. Wish him the best with his surgery and recovery.
Grandpa is still at work. He’s about to leave.
Grandpa needs to stop speaking in the third person.
a few major injuries to start summer practice, hopefully that’s the last of it. Probable reason why June never let that go all out and hit each other, especially when the team needs to develop depth on the defense. Lots of players with potential but they need the PT to develop but injury will slow a few. Bring back the big bag, I don’t think we had any should injuries hitting the bag. Brashton, Kenny, PaiPai, and who else limited by should injuries.
Hiya and nitey nite.
Rapid and complete healing, Brashton!
C’mon, Kenny!!! Please let it be nothing serious!!!
Went back and looked at the $$$raiser… got the scoops, thanks, bhf2!
btw- please remember the ohana of Lauren Kagawa in your prayers… her mom lives in our neighborhood and her younger sister is a classmate of my #2 son.

Washington Examiner article about Colt’s progress with the Redskins
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/sports/53516687.html
The taming of the Colt
Brennan impresses coaches with strides made from last season…
Dunno if this one was posted already; article on Colt on the Redskins’ site…
http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/For_Brennan__It_s_One_Step_At_a_Time_47043.jsp
“As the Washington Redskins prepare for the regular season, there are three certainties: Jason Campbell is the starting quarterback, Mike Williams is the largest human being this side of the Beltway, and Colt Brennan has been dubbed by some Redskins faithful (lovingly called the “Cult of Colt”) as the next coming of Sammy Baugh.
In fact, Brennan is such a fan favorite that if the typical Redskins fan were a 14-year-old girl, he would be a Jonas brother. Judging from his various outbreaks into song around the practice facility, he may just be the fifth Jo-bro, albeit a hip-hop loving more down-to-earth version.”
Condolences to Brashton. I hope that his surgery goes well and that he’ll be fully healthy and in great shape for next season.
This article has a lot of information about Central Arkansas. They sure are trying hard to get ready for their season opener against the Warriors…95-play scrimmage on Sunday! The transfer QB that was projected to start for Central Arkansas seems like he’ll miss all the practices leading up to the UH game, so the Park will probably start at QB.
I didn’t realize that UNLV’s President has some ties to UH.
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Best wishes to Brashton for a full recovery. I would expect him to get the 6th year if he petitions for it.
I hope that Kenny’s MRI shows nothing major and he is able to get back on to the field. Injuries are part of the game but they sure suck.
Morning Tsaikos.
Brashton, I hope you have a quick and full recovery. Take it easy and come back strong next year.
BHF2,
Is there a way I can send paypal to somebody? I don’t write checks anymore, except to the IRS and property tax collector.
Good Morning Tsaiko Family!

QUESTIONS for Coach Shoji: The last 3 yrs, the Wahines have had the most predictable offense and put most their marbles into 1 player, are we going to see the same pattern of one player offense or are you going to have an offense which involves the entire front line?

wow at least some good news today mahalo stretch for the info. since I dont want to listen to bcurran the update is welcomed.
btw not planning to go this thursday
chawan at least it wasn’t something lame bwhaaaaaaaaaaa lol
just cause you not getting a free ticket this year doesn’t mean you can’t support the team
My question for Dave Shoji,
How do the new transfers mainly Corinne, Lex Forsythe and Alex Griffiths look and do they have a shot at being starters?
My question for miss Danielson,
How is your jumpserve coming along. Do you think it will be the team’s new secret weapon?
koakane,
at least i’m going on thursday!!!!
Central Arkansas Bear’s head coach Clint Conque returns 16 starters (9 on D) and 48 lettermen on a team that went 10-2 and #1 in the Southland Conference, with a final #12 ranking in the FCS.
“Our guys showed a real commitment this summer, with all but one player working out in Conway in our strength and conditioning program. We think that dedication to what we are doing here at UCA will carry over once practice starts.”
Yesterday the Bears rumbled in their first scrimmage to prepare for Hawaii.
“…. we had an altercation in practice with two veteran players and that’s unacceptable. I ejected both of the players and that’s what happens”.
For a Sunday night scrimmage that was missing 10 players for a variety of reasons, there was still enough to please University of Central Arkansas head coach Clint Conque after a review of the tape.
“There were some things that were really, really good….” said Conque.
The Bears returned to the practice field Monday afternoon after the coaching staff canceled the morning practice following the late scrimmage.
Nathan Dick, 6’4″ Soph transfer from Arkansas is making a bid to start at QB.
The Bears have transfer players from SEC teams including Mississippi and Mississippi State as well as Tulsa and several from the WAC.
The Bears are less than three weeks away from their 2009 season opener at Hawaii on Sept. 4.
“The calendar’s turning,” Conque said.
“That game is getting closer and closer and we’re not ready, by any stretch, to play a team like Hawaii. We have to continue to work and get some guys back on the practice field. We’re in the dog days of camp and we just have to work through the aches and pains.”
Lol. Warriors can say the same….Amen to that.
God luck to Ryan Mouton, I hope that the ankle injury isn’t serious. He was doing so well.
howzit wf2 – how was practice yesterday?? any updates?? any signs of improvement on both lines??
Question for HC shoji.
First question: What is your evaluation of freshmen Kristiana Tuaniga. Do you think that she will be redshirting this season?
Second question: How is recruiting for the 2010 and 2011 classes coming along?
ok gangie rush down and get one
Go Solly and the Bills!!!
yea I could go like chwan and just stand around or naaaaaaaaaaaaah

Question for Coach Shoji:
Seeing as how you are a UH coaching legend, what facility would you liked named after you after you retire?
what’s wrong with asking?? I was not able to attend practice so would like to get reports of how things are going from people who are able to make it.
Aloha this morning,
Paypal is not an option that we may use at UH.
I understand the hesitancy to leave a paper trail.
Na Koa is just getting a meeting together with web design and UHF techs to make accept on-line donations and membership payments happen. This meeting should have happened 10 years ago. But the good news is we are moving into the modern era, perhaps PayPal will be next. I will bring it up tomorrow at the meeting.
I value your comments and suggestions to make us better.
Great synopsis ST at the Quarterback Club yesterday.
Is it appropriate to post the Na Koa Monday lunch schedule at the Willows with Coach M on this site??
Question for Kanani:
After your UH playing days are over, are you going to enter the Miss Hawaii contest?
Coach Dave,
What part of the team will be the most improved over last year?
bhf2 ~ $50 check just went in the mail from Mrs SB and I…
Good morning Tsaikos…
BHF2…put me down for $25.
Pride…I need to send the check for the RFL…where do I send it to????
Good luck to Brashton. Hope the surgery goes well. Rest and heal up and come back stronger next year.
Hope the MRI doesn’t show anything serious with Kenny. Good luck to him too….
okay..gotta run for now….BBL

Kanani,

Reminder of the Pigskin Pigout this coming Thursday at Murphy’s. Starts at 5:30.
ALOHA Coach Shoji and Kanani………COACH, Do you feel with the personal that you have this season, that the FINAL 4 is a LEGITIMATE GOAL and WINNING It ALL?
Coach Dave,
Offensively, it appears we have a lot of options, but is Amber the key this year? I think her track success and training is going to pay big dividends this year.
Mahalo and Go Wahine!
As i mentioned, our DTs will set the tone for our D.
MAC talks about a 2.0 rotation at this position, but realistically he needs 5. The progress of Haku and Hanohano is key….and good health for the first three.
We are inexperienced in every other position.
Until we start banging 11 on 11, our secondary is still unknown and untested.
7 on 7 performances are encouraging as far as closing and swarm but is not the true lithmus for alignment and pursuit against run blocking.
Make no mistake, oppenents will run at our D.
We need to be concerned about O gametime communication with Gordie Shaw the only veteran coach on the field (if we assume Ron Lee will continue spoting from the booth) but new to this regime’s system.
Im not getting into it on this blog, but suffice to say, we need improvement over last year.
It’s MAC’s to manage or mismanage.
As far as Oline development is concerned, we should be looking for progress, not miracles. It’s still too early, but Shaw has already demonstrated command of his unit and there have been positive changes he has made that is encouraging.
I believe there is chemistry but we are still dealing with the same personnel. Gordie needs help from key players.
If big John steps up in a leadership role, which Shaw is depending, it could be positive. Talent and leadership dont always ride in tandem.
This week will be crucial as the coaches turn up the intensity and put-in-place their schemes for opening day.
Player IQ will factor-in this season as our 3-game road trip will present severe adversity and challenges.
It’s also good to see application to detail on our STs–in every transition and phase.
Something we have lacked in the past.
Dotting the “I’s n T’s” is a lesson in coaching.
It’s just a matter of persistency (which Tormey has)chemistry and player attitude in execution.
who said anything about practice
basic
everything needs improvement
everybody needs to step up
everyone is untested until the whistle blows
everyday is important
everywhere is anywhere
imho
aloha coach and kanani, good luck this season, my question is for coach, do we have Enough Size and Firepower to Compete with the “Elite” teams this season? Enough, meaning to Win it All?

UH feature on the DL. I love this feature by UH and think that the person doing it is doing a good job…though they should double-check names (Miranda instead of Aranda).
what’s a “zone dog pass rush”?
thanks wf2 for the practice observations. I hope to get out to a practice again one of these days.

hopefully, “one door closes and another one opens” an opportunity for a guy waiting in the wing to step up and a star is born.
coach dave
it seems to me that your approach and the way you interact with your players has evolved over the past 5-7 years. am i imagining this or have you “mellowed” with age?
kanani
we all enjoy your athletic abilities and game day focus. you probably could play any position on the court.
if there were a second position on the court for you to play what would you choose?
kanani
what are you majoring in and what are your aspirations after volleyball?
coach dave
having been at manoa for sooo long, what motivates you each morning going in to the “office”?
coach dave
you realize that your stint here is legendary and soon you will join les murakami in the 1000 win elite club. too often, we, take the stuff that you both have done for our state and university for granted.
having both established and pioneered these respective sports.
did you ever think, did you ever think this would become this big???
mahalo.
re: #98
i realize that al kang had the team at its inception the year before dave took over, but, they only played ten games back then.
dave has been credited by most as the founder of this program.
gramps
is there a depth chart?
i thought for sure that you were going to publish it today.
Good late morning, everyone!
A quick break from screen repair — last major job of the summer!!! Yahoo!!!
#82 wf2,
i agree, that the opposition will run right at our DT’s because if we can’t stop the ‘run up the gut’ and they can get 3-4 yds a play, it’s over. they’ll march down our throats on every possession, just basic smash mouth football. in years past, we have seen this occur against the ‘name’ teams that have played us, and usually in the 3rd and 4th quarters, where fatigue and personnel challenges have set in.
some alignments will require the DT’s to hold the gap, or the point, and rely on the LB’s to make the plays. other alignments will release the DT’s if they are fast enough and strong enough, to go vertical and create chaos in the backfield. speed + power is a deadly combination, because with that penetration, the DT has now ‘upset’ the rhythm of the play, the sequence and/or timing of the play….and has cut the width of the field dramatically. BUT, you need speed + power + technique to get past the O line….and that is what makes it exciting.
either way, our D is going to have to ‘bring it’ on every play and establish supremacy in the trenches to stop the wenches…ok, just had to throw that in….sorry to all the girlie boys out there, haha..
have a great Tuesday everyone….
Yay that Satele will have his shoulder repaired. With a medical redshirt he will be available next year — USC.
Yeah!
Kanani,
Do you have Olympic Dreams?
Basically JM it means exactly what it says, the defensive line is responsible for rushing the qarterback while we play zone with the defensive backfield. In the meantime everyone on D barks like dogs to distract the quarterback getting him to lose his focus. Works will well if excecuted properly. Arf, arf, arf, arf.
Pride
whew, where would i be without you, that info is so critical to understand what we’re doing. that’s why when the LB’s call Cowboy, i love seeing them trying to lasso the RB’s….and when I hear Bulldog, all the Kaimuki alumni do a high five. this is an easy D to understand, just have to know the english language 🙂
bhf2
mailman just picked up the check. will take a few days to get across the ocean though.
Re-#59
From the article we learned that the Central Arkansas team had a Sunday scrimmage at what time? Night. And why? To simulate game like condition when they play the Warriors in the evening game.
To me this sounds like smart and sound coaching to replicate game like conditions for his Central Arkansas team and players.
Other coaches around the country do likewise. That is to acclimate the players to as close to real time game conditions as possible. If it’s in the heat of the afternoon they practice in the afternoon. If it’s an upcoming night game they practice at night. In both instances it’s getting the players used to the heat of the afternoon or the evening’s bright lights of the stadium.
Two teams, also I’ve read, where they, too, practice at night-Boise and Washington. In fact for Washington as they are looking at their first game with LSU in a night game, their second practices of two a days starts at 645 p.m as to get the team acclimated to game like conditions.
Boise, I’ve read, not only do they practice as close to acclimating the players to game like conditions, like practicing at night, they also bring in piped/taped stadium noise(fan cheering) so that the their offense and defense practices under these conditions, too.
UH, so far, presumably, is gearing up with their game with Central Arkansas by looking at the opponent’s films. And having the scout team replicating the other team’s offense and defense in prep work. Hmm.
But is this enough? Wouldn’t UH’s coaches want their players under the stadium lights, too, scrimmaging, getting their timing down, fielding punts, kickoffs, having the receivers catching passes and allowing all the players in general getting used to a different elements and conditions?
How I see it I wish they would.
It is not a coincidence we’re seeing the WR dropping passes earlier on in the season and where the players are showing a drop in energy by evening game times for the reasons are obvious– because of not being used to the bright lights and that their body clocks are attuned to early morning practices, which is also defeating, too IMO.
Some coaches incorporate their planning and preparations with the mindset of that of an Army General. And this leadership is noticeable, like how I exalted the Central Arkansas coach for scrimmaging under the lights. For his team he’s making use of every opportunity to win, which is smart and sound coaching. For UH, from what I’ve seen with an absence of night practices, let alone scrimmages…they’re leaving everything up to chance. Not good.
i do agree with wf2 that our game day field management needs to improve.
coach Shoji
what does Mafua bring to the court that Brandt is lacking to give her the nod as the starting setter. Last season her offense was predictable-set Houston on the left or Houston from the back row, and when she wasn’t an option Herring to the left. Couldn’t Brandt have done the same, she seems like a better server and back row player than Mafua, if so, why not start her.
Who will pay the power bill at the stadium?
6:45pm in the PNW at this time of year is hardly a night practice. Sun sets around 9pm.
Belated congrats to the new grandpa & grandma!

Bulla, good observations and as I mentioned yesterday, the BIG SIX on Hawaii’s schedule ALL averaged close to 5 ypr. in 2008 and will be every bit as good, if not better, in 2009.
Its no secret that our DEs are tweeners and suspect holding ground against 300+ OLM.
Last year’s FSU game highlighted some mismatches in straight-hand-to-hand push.
We may get away with a few zone blitzes off the edge but unless our CBs properly man and our safeties are in position to close quickly, for the most part we will give away generous running lanes for big gainers. Not uncommon for our D given its philosophy and set-up and especially if our LBs are slow to the gaps n crushed in the blocking stampede.
We didnt have the player personnel last year and it would surprise me this year….other than Coach Tormey, we have the same coaches. Some think that one year could make the difference in their learning curve and that has merit…but again, MAC cites three JUCO DBs that he feels will make mega-impact. While that may also be true, JUCOs players have experienced simple basic ball on D and so their IQ must also be measured and their learning curve configured as much as their 40-time and verticality.
Im looking for progress on-the-job from our secondary as we play into the season more than immediate impact.
If it comes immediately–no one will need to say so–it will be that obvious!
on the rude and obnoxious radio guy show, he mentioned solly being signed by buffalo, im assuming the bills, but both the buffalo team site and the nfl transactions site does not mention anything about solly. can anyone confirm solly’s signing?
BHF2: Check for $50 is in the mail! (Honest!!!)

al,
only if all 3 were in HD….
Coach Shoji and Kanani, thank you for giving us a better insight of Wahine volleyball. Appreciate you both taking the time to answer questions and help us get ready for start of season in 2 weeks.
Hawaii better not take Central Arkansas lightly. Remember Portland State? Remember Texas A & I? If you forgot, Texas A & I – 43, UH – 0 in the first game ever at Aloha Stadium in 1975. Up til now, Central Arkansas is most famous for being the school that Scottie Pippen went to. UCA has a very good record. The caliber of players that they have are excellent. All we need to remember recently is Appalacian St. went on the road to Michigan in the first game of the season and won. Hopefully, Mack and the coaches will make sure the players have their attention.
P.S. Yang beat Tiger who was supposed to be invincible w/ a lead in the final round. You gotta give it to the South Korean. He’s a fighter, not fazed w/ the gallery (maybe he doesn’t speak or understand English so it doesn’t bother him), and it doesn’t hurt to eat a lot of Kim Chee. I give him a lot of credit and he played super. He won it, Tiger did not lose it.
He played the steadiest.
Liz ~ It’s a shame that you have to demand respect on your own home turf. Very well said in #133. We know where you’re coming from.
BHF2 & LV Both of you will be receiving some money from me to put some wheels in motion. The snail left yesterday, and has just now reached the mail box down the street.
Keep your fingers crossed that no accidents, incidents, hostage situations or employees going Postal, shall stop the US Mail from it’s completed rounds.
Derek…I have to agree. I don’t care who you play but you should always play to win…never take anybody lightly and always be prepared for a fight. If this game were so predictable, we would only play it on paper and everyone would win in Vegas.
Go Warriors!

Kekoa – any practice plans in the near future?
anyone see homey ℞ lately
in 2004, uh, led by record setting qb timmy chang, lost to div 1aa florida atlantic 28-35. florida atlantic had something like 20 returning starters. they were coached by howard schnellenberger, who coached the 1983 national champions at miami.

Going out in the morning.
Football talent it what it is, but what you do with it is just as important, as is the case with Boise State.
In recent years, UH’s defensive schemes are predictable. It would be better to use more schemes and more guys. I’d like to see some 5 man fronts from time to time, especially with quick linebackers and corners and safeties.
Loa ~ Me & my sidekick KK goin’ be at practice tomorrow aftahnoon. I had been looking forward to Sat. practice too, but must attend an event up at Kamehameha Schools Chapel. (I gotta sit close to da door – shiver me timbers wen I walk inside any KSB bldg).

I learned a lot from today’s show.

One of the many articles about Ryan Mouton’s injury.
This KGMB-KHNL merger is going to be ugly.
I feel sad for the workers.
Update on Mouton’s injury…glad it isn’t as bad as they were worried it was.
ST,
I agree with you about the merger…a lot of people will be out of jobs when they cut their workforce. If they are going to show the same show on multiple networks, that does save money…but it means that a lot of people won’t be needed.
The Texas students are actually having their seats upgraded this season…I’ve read about how school after school (including UH) has been downgrading student seating to sell the better seats to boosters, but this is the first time I remember students getting upgraded.

This is bombshell for local media. I too feel sorry for those employees facing the cutbacks.
It seems like everywhere I turn, some friend or family member is facing the same thing.
God bless us all.
Let’s not forget that Liz has very lovely knees, too.
We’ll get the check out in the morning mail, Mr, Movin’ and Shakin’ Hilo guy.
Coach Mack,
James Donovan,
a most excellent suggestion to you both. got dis flash today at lunch, while i wuz burpin.
take volunteer help from some retired Tsaikos. one in particular got the education and credentials to help the compliance person BIG TIME.
da bonus is this particular volunteer get super Excel Spreadsheet Skills. and dis volunteer wants to help.
if wuz me, i’d scoop da volunteer in a heartbeat. den my guess is you’re likely to avoid future make A kine – neva know dat wuz coming kine crack to da head.
limit da volunteer hours, make em hungry, wanna show you she knows how to work da spreadsheets, for tracking recruits, getting medicals, etc. dis lady can teach da compliance lady, an vice versa. pretty soon, you’d be tryin for steal her for yoselfs.
no trust me. ask ST. plus, dis lady get BRAINS! and she lives close by. an… she no need gas fo go to her volunteerism. walk to work. 😀
honest. 😀
Regarding the Central Arkansas discussion for #59, I don’t understand how the Arkansas transfer at QB could be making a push to start when he had to sit out the scrimmage due to injury and he’ll have to sit out basically their entire fall camp…he’s projected to be back from injury sometime between August 26 and September 1. If he can’t practice or scrimmage, how is he making a push to start?
This simplifies things as the Warrior coaches can scout Robbie Park. This is his fourth season at Central Arkansas–he was a backup to their star QB the past years, so you can see below that he had a lot of did not plays in their boxscores.

Derek,
Lava,
don’t think that coaches are taking CAU lightly. not build on Notre Dame.
It looks like Central Arkansas is shifting from a primarily passing team into a run-oriented team. They will use all types of formations and this will be a good test of the Warrior D. The strength of their D is their DL, so that will be a good test for the Warrior OL.

Environmentally-friendly coating for glass, plastics, and a range of other materials may eliminate the need for harsh detergents and solvents…if you get a heavy oil spill on something, you can just wipe it off with plain water! It also can be used as an anti-fog coating on windshields and eyewear.
Mathematicians developed a new cloaking method to shield subs from sonar, planes from radar, buildings from earthquakes, and oil rigs and coastal structures from tsunamis.
With it now 17 days away from kickoff all football fans are waiting to see if what Coach Mack said after last season’s football game that he’ll be looking at what needs to be fixed will come to fruition.
A sampling of posts of what I’ve read today confirms that UH needed to improve in areas, like the O-Line,D-Line, game day preparation, on the field preparations and special teams.
And I agree. And I agree that the team is working diligently on improving in these areas in spring ball and fall camp.
Coach had even brought in new coaches displacing ones that were inept as a way in getting better.
But you know something when you listen to a sage coach, one that’s been there, they always say it always gets down to which team executes and which team is fundamentally sound.
Boise State epitomizes this.
But what gets me, on paper, for example, UH is bigger than Boise State. And maybe with biases I’d even say if we put the UH players in a cage fight with the Boise State players and UH would win…because I think the UH players are tougher. And if you want to get into a track race or lifting contest I’d bet UH would hold it’s own there, too.
But what separates UH from the teams that are higher echelon teams, like a Boise State, is that they’re fundamentally sound whereas UH lags far behind.
And this is the one glaring area, where if Coach Mack looked at last year’s game films he’d notice this that the Warriors are fundamentally deficient.
And where there should be a strong foundation to build on–like having the right way of doing things as his mantra.
And I hope that he has fixed it for this year… like he said he would.
Five things IMO should have been addressed if UH is to see successes this year. All are fundamentals.
1. Improvement in tackling. Stop the arm tackling. Wrap the arms around and aim lower instead of tackling so high. A good reason as to why 16 plays of 40 yards or longer were because of poor tackling resulting in mis-tackling.
2. On the field discipline. It’s one thing being aggressive and incurring a penalty, like being off side. But the stupid ones, like the retaliation penalties are inexcusable.
3. Players not remembering their assignments. Again inexcusable. A DB playing zone when he should be in man or WR running the wrong route reflect on players not thinking. And it can cost the team a W. And if I were the coach I’d keep harping on this to get this point across.
4. On offense UH tips off their plays. They have to have a better poker face, and disguise what play they are going to run. The opposing defense can see these subtleties in the UH offense and can detect a running play or pass. Smart defense and players can read the body language of the QB, OL and make reads from this and the audibles. UH handicaps itself too much if the opposition knows what to expect.
5. Likewise on defense UH tips off it’s plays, especially when the opposition can recognize when UH is bringing the house. And where good fundamentally sound defenses would be camouflaging what their doing… UH defense is too predictable.
When I look at the upcoming football year I want to applaud the team for making the off season improvements. I want to see everything coming into focus. I want to watch games, and feel my hands aching from clapping so hard.
And to see the transformation in Coach Mack’s coaching from last year to this year because that will be the key, especially if he can induce his troops into playing sound fundamental football.
Deep tremors indicate that a *massive* earthquake (9.0 or greater!) could take place near the Seattle/Tacoma area that could also cause a tsunami. The mega-earthquakes in the Cascadia subduction zone occur every 400 or 500 years or so, and the last one in that area was a 9.2 earthquake that created a tsunami that reached Japan!

Man threw money from his car on the 210 freeway in LA, causing a traffic jam when people ran onto the freeway to grab the cash. Police recovered about $1,000 and are asking for the people who gathered money to return it (good luck with that, people who ran onto a freeway aren’t the type who would give the money back!).

BG,
You look at this blog 2 yrs ago, when there were posts numbering in the 600, each with diverse opinions.
Back then it was a fun blog to read. And people wrote freely.
Nobody was proprietary…”and thought that this was their blog”.
Nobody was controlling of what opinions were said.
Nobody looked down at commentary.
Back then it was an open forum.
And now it’s still an open forum.
Yet, now, the hardliner Tsaikos want to make their presence known by filtering what can be said and what can’t be said…They think they can push their weight around and by being intimidating, like how they are to wf2.
And this is obvious.
And this the reason why this blog is suffering.
The numbers are down and the posts are filled with fluff.
I’m guessing the lurkers wanting to write would be scared off from writing because it may not be with the prevailing opinion of that of the tsaiko
This isn’t healthy.
It’s unhealthy to suppress freedom of speech within reason
There’s nothing I see that wf2 writes that would be offending to the coach or players
Likewise I don’t think anything I write would offend the coach or players.
But to you BG and other tsaikos–you’re weirdness is apparent, especially you BG, for the last time you admonished me was over your perception that I was copying other peoples writing which you wouldn’t know, then, it got me angry…and the same way as I feel right know towards you to imply that wf2 are related. The only thing we have in common is that we don’t sugar coat things–
From now on keep your snide remarks to yourself.
nalani….you can find film of kahai on the princess leila videos.
Hmm. same smell.
Nighty night and Sweet Warrior Dreams!
RC ~ You would be totally blown away by the fact that one of the “hardliner” Tsaiko’s really is related to wf2! No big deal.
Your perception of what others on the blog write is no different then what BG said of you.
Like we have always said, c’mon down to a cc or a tail gate and meet the real people behind the blog names. I think if you met BG, you would think differently of him…or any of the rest of us.
Charleston Southern is a *73* point underdog to Florida…this USA Today article discussing that spread has a nice mention of UH.
Kekoa,
Your #139 sums everything up clearly.
Here you give LK a big pat on her back for her #133
For what reason?
That she threw a spear, or barb, at wf2
His post didn’t warrant that kind of hostility from LK
But you were right there to back her up by saying she had every right to protect her turf (what you meant is that you wanted to get back at wf2 for last weeks verbal volleying in which he made you look like a fool).
This is juvenile
And then for LK to lump me together with wf2 in her #212 by inferring same smell is also juvenile
BG in his #188 throwing a spear at me too for what reason?
You know people see this kokea, and it doesn’t make them want to gravitate towards this blog or to you, BG or LK.
Talk football and sports, write about it instead of throwing spears, Kokea. Or engaging in verbal volleying…but then again I can’t remember any of your post having anything of substance–which is sad, and which is beginning to being inherent to this blog.
Hey RC ~ good discussion posts are good. Personal attacks aren’t. That’s the difference…
BTW it’s Kekoa not Kokea. Please care enough to at least get somebodies name right.
Like Kekoa said, you should come down to da tailgaters (or other Tsai-ko events) and meeting everybody. They’re alot of fun and pretty interesting discussion flows…
